My fellow contact wearers, what do you do?

I wear contacts and was wondering what is the best thing to do while visiting the parks. I do not want to wear glasses, so I will start off in contacts. What do you do if you need to take your contacts out or you lose one, do you carry around back up contacts all day or your glasses? I usually am fine with contacts in all day but if it is windy or I get something in my eyes, I will have to take it out.

I wear my contacts all day in the parks. I'm completely blind without them (can't read the big E on they eye chart). I don't bring my glasses into the park. I do keep a spare pare of lenses in my hotel room. I've never needed them yet, but I figure the one time I don't bring them I will need them. If you're concerned about wind or dry eyes why don't you bring a small bottle of lubricant with you. That way you can moisten your eyes if something gets in to them.

I wear them all day long. I have my glasses in the room and I always have a backup pair of contacts back in the room. I wear two week disposable so it's no big deal of I rip one or loose one and have to put another in.

I am a former contact lens wearer. I used to wear my contacts and a big pair of protective non-prescription sunglasses to WDW, carrying a small bottle of artificial tears in my WDW parks carry bag. I would have been smarter to have also carried an extra pair of disposable lenses with me, in the original packaging--but I don't do "thrill" rides, so I figured I would do OK without the extra pair. Worked for me!

I actually have the 30 day contacts and was wondering if my doctor would actually prescribe the daily for just 1 month so I could just toss them each day and have a back up in the parks. I should be fine all day with them in but you never know. I have to wear them to see far away, but I do want to be able to see

when i used to wear soft contacts I would always carry an extra set with me in my camera bag. i was blind as a bat also and i didnt want to waste any time if i lost a contact... then you have to get back on the bus go back to your hotel get the contact and get back to the park. you problery just wasted an hour. Where if you kept the extra set in your camera bag you were set.

I now do something called ortho k lens they are hard lenes you sleep in a night. Take them off durning the day and you do not need glasses or contacts. this is the best thing i have ever done !!!!

I am also blind without my contacts...I always carry an extra set of 2 week disposables in my little backpack that I carry. I bring a small bottle of rewetting drops.....I wear sunglasses but some of the wind off the rides can dry my eyes out!

call me weird.. i like my glasses but I do have contacts too. I wear my glasses far more than contacts but while at Disney...

I usually wear my contacts during the day then some point in the evening take them out and put on my glasses.

at the water park I just don't bother with the contacts at all. I am not completely blind without them,,, just things are annoyingly fuzzy but my eyes tend to get used to no contacts or glasses pretty quickly as long as I don't need to focus to read stuff.

Ditto to everything! I keep a spare pair in the room, but not with me. Also don't carry my glasses. I keep a little bottle of lubricant or a small bottle of solution with me, just in case I get a speck of dirt in my eye -- but have never had a problem.

The only time I've ever worried about it was at a waterpark. I do keep my contacts in while at the waterparks, but do bring my glasses/extra contacts/solution/case with me (in my bag). Since you have a much greater chance of getting something in your eye at a waterpark, it's good to be prepared. I haven't had a problem yet, but you never know!

I wear daily disposables and they worked great at WDW. They are so light to carry that I tossed an extra set in my pocket along with a teeny bottle of rewetting drops. I never needed the spare set but it was way easier than carrying around spare glasses! FYI - ask your doctor for a trial week of disposables.

I wear daily disposables and never had a problem during the day, but I always had some eye drops in my bag. They came in handy numerous times.

I asked my eye doc about that and it seems that others feel the same way. I'd rather take them out and soak them, instead of drops. However, can't do that in the park.

I find the same thing to be true. I wear my lenses all day in the parks. Can't see without them and don't like wearing glasses. I have never had a problem, even doing full day out at a park, swim (use DD's goggles and hope nobody recognises me ) and then onto evening EMH and still been fine. Funny, I could never do that at home. I do always have a back up pair with me though and usually have sunglasses on during the day which does help. I would never go without spares - They dont take up much space.

Whenever I go to Disneyland for more than 1 day I keep a spare set of contacts in my hotel room. I always do that when I travel. It's better to be safe then sorry.

I would just take a small thing of eye drops with you into the park. That will help if you need it.

Yes - count me in the blind-as-a-bat group.

I am a 2-week Acuvue contact wearer. I only wear glasses late at night when in our hotel room (or at home).

I always carry an extra pair of contacts with me. Thank God, my eyes have the same perscription, 7.5. I also always have re-wetting drops with me - I carry them in my purse at home and on vacation in my fanny-pack.

I bring my glasses with me on vacation, but leave them in the resort room.

For our 10 day WDW vacation, I have 6 pairs on contacts packed, plus the one I wear. I change my contacts 1/2 way through the 10 day vacation, even if is less than the 2 week time frame. My contacts then feel fresh my whole vacation.

Hye just curious about former lens wearers.. what do you do now? I was thinking about lasix but am scared of messing up my eyes?? I would love to know more about that K-Lens if you don't mind

One more tip for contact lens wearers, Don't ride in the front seat of RnR coaster at DHS. There is nothing to block the wind and man do contacts dry out fast at 60 miles an hour.

We always take a break during the day and I usually switch over to my glasses before we go back in the evening. One nice thing about Florida humidity, I can wear my lenses longer without getting "dry eyes".
