My favorite Disney picture - post yours!

Sorry, I beg to differ. There's at least one post in this thread that was definitely snarky. I'm not about to call the person out publicly because I don't see the point in getting into an e-peen fight on a forum. It's just not needed - this was a nice thread about favorite pictures and it turned into someone feeling the need to put someone's work down for no good reason. :confused3

Well ok, I was just stating that I, personally, wasn't trying to be snarky, just trying to educate.

I apologize; it wasn't directed at you. I'm a PS hack - I know just enough to be dangerous, LOL. If Jamian has any Photoshop tips he'd like to share, I'd love to hear them. The color saturation thing is awesome.

The good news is: :thumbsup2It's relatively easy to do!
The bad news is: it could be costly, though in the long run its worth the cost!
You'd need Photoshop which runs from 50$ to about 200$ depending on what version you get.
Then you'd need filter plugins, the one I used in my example is Topaz Adjust which runs around 48 bucks but they have other plugins too, you can buy the whole suite for $180.

Then it's only a matter of loading your photo and playing around with it by adding filters to it. in my example, i just used a quick setting and boom there you go.

Does it use up a lot of memory on your computer? Or does it run off the disk with little memory usage??? Right now my computer is crap. I plan to get a new one soon!:thumbsup2

The tone of your last several posts have been much "nicer" than the first few. Just my opinion. (And no, I'm not feeling inferior). I would love to see more great pictures though from whoever is brave enough to post them :goodvibes.

It can become a resource hog depending on how many filters you are adding to a picture. Because basically they are not permanant until you save it so the PC is using temp memory to show the results until you save. So if you are adding alot of effects it can bog your system a little.

Until the superior accusation, I wasn't aware I was using any tone, I thought I was just being straight forward. Though I guess you can assume any tone while reading text.

If Adobe Photoshop is out of your price range (it can be pretty expensive, though it is the best program for photo editing), you can try Gimp, which is a free photo editor, and about as close as you are going to get to Photoshop.

Sorry about using the word superior. I shouldn't have attacked you. for some reason your posts saying it didn't take much talent to create those photos rubbed me the wrong way - like you were attacking someone else. Even if you're right, it still irritated me - sorry again. I don't usually post stuff like that. You're right - sometimes reading text can make something come across the wrong way. Okay - sorry again for getting off the purpose of this thread. I'll let everyone resume :goodvibes.

This is photopass at its best. The only year I purchased it was when we had a lot of candid shots. Many of them were of my kids playing in a fountain as well.

Jamain, are your photos HDR? I think they are beautiful. Thanks for sharing them.

Wow, no one was getting snarky. His shots are nice, but a few people thought it was a natural shots. All I said is that they wasn't and showed just how easy anyone, who would want the same effects, could do it. I'm pretty sure Jamian knew where I was coming from and even posted another technique after the fact.

Actually, Jamian included in his post a link to his pictures and he said so. If anyones click it, there is an explanation of how he did it under each and every picture. I do not say that you shouldn't say pictures are retouched but I say, Jamian never claimed they are 100% natural. As for Special Effects, you should have a great picture to begin with, so you could get a great effect. I do not think I can get same pictures without experience in photography, Jamian is definately talanted.

I absolutely love all these Disney pics, espically the black and white of the 3 kids on Main Street. We are going in May, and I am currently using a Kodak Easy Share camera which takes okay pics. I plan on buying a new camera prior to our trip. Looking for something simple that takes nice, crisp pics. Anybody love their camera and want to make a recommendation? Thanks in advance for any advice.

Do these programs run on a Mac or does anyone know of some that do?

Do doubt, I'm not disagreeing with you. I was just showing how basic editing can be fairly easy. Let's be honest, it's not something that takes years to master. I admit I'm a little biased, because I'm one who rathers photo's in the purest form. I don't mind cleanups and sharpens, but when you do over exposing and saturations, I personally feel it kills the soul of a photo. Not that they don't sometimes look great, like Jamians, but if I were given the choice, I'd pic the B/W pic of a PP than Jamians. It's all about the shot, and if the shot is a good one, why edit it?

LOVE the pouting one! We have one of my daughter crying all decked out in her BBB outfit! I always said my daughter could have everything she wants and a crown on her head and still be upset. It was proved true on that day at Disney World!:rotfl2:

Oop, I quoted the wrong picture! This was supposed to go w/the pic above and the little girl pouting on the sidewalk! (I still love this black and white pic, though!)

Jamain, thanks for posting. I have added your Flicker page as one of my favorites.
There are many talented people posting around here, many over on the disbaord's Photography board as well.

I'm not sure any of this is "easy" to do regardless of whether or not you have Photoshop, plugins, expensive cameras and tripods, etc.

Shots like those Jamain has posted require a lot of forethought, plannig, and vision to go along with all the equipment and technical expertise. Oh, and time... it takes some time to get it all done at the level Jamain has.
I believe many of those Jamain posted are HDR shots and I'd love to be able to create something like that someday. They are just fantastic and not "overdone" from an HDR standpoint (some people go overboard with the effect IMO).

Here are some of my pictures.
I''ve posted these before. They are from a recent trip and are the best shot I took. These were taken with a Canon S90 point and shoot and tweaked in Photoshop:

B/W picture of kids is priceless, no questions, but Jamians pictures also about shot not just effects. Main Street picture for example got a wonderful proportion, and there is something interesting about all his shots. As I said, you need a great shot to begin with. I agree that effects only, will not get you anywhere and sometimes simple shot looks much better, example Avatar, too many effects, brilliant in technical terms but was not enough to get "Best Picture".
