After coming onto the boards and seeing all the negative posts about FP+ I was so terrified to use it. I thought it was going to ruin my trip and my family and I would have a horrible time and just be totally stressed. I was completely wrong.
FP+ made my trip so much less stressful and enjoyable. You just have to figure out how to make it work and how to get the experiences that you want.
Before my trip I asked my family what there "must do's" were and what they were willing to wait in line for. That really helped me book my fastpasses. I also booked all of mine right on my 60 day. I went on right at midnight and had a list of what I wanted. I got every single one. Including Anna and Elsa. I also was able to get a SDMT when they became available.
When we finally got down there, which was shortly after the changes were made to be able to add a fourth rotating fastpass after you used the ones you have. I was able to change some of the fastpass times to be earlier in the day so I would get my fourth quicker. Some I wasn't able to change.
Using the magic bands was so incredibly easy. Getting in the parks was quick and easy, using the fastpasses was fast. Even the MDE app was easy. I could change times on the fly if I needed too.
The problems I did have were I didn't like that I needed to go to a kiosk to add my fourth. If they made it so that guest could add the fourth on their phones it would be so much easier for guests than to search for a kiosk. Also some of the cast members at the kiosks could be rude, which I did not appreciate.
The other thing I did notice was FP+ when I had one for an attraction I was on either walk on of less than five minutes which was great. But for rides I didn't have a fp I felt like I was waiting much longer than I needed too and that the fastpass people were being taken in much larger groups than the stand by line. They need to find a fair ratio of fp riders and stand by riders.
Journey into Imagination with Figment is a ride I have never waited more than 5 minutes for and we waited for a solid 30 minutes which was insane to me. Some of these rides don't need a fastpass.
Overall I had a positive experience with the Fastpass+ system. I got on so many rides like SDMT in about 3 minutes. We waited probably 20 minutes for Anna and Elsa, but I would take that over 3 hours. Our vacation was so much less stressful not having to worry about runnung around getting fastpasses. They were already done and set. That was a such nice peace of mind to have when going into the parks.
I would recommend getting a list of what you and your family want fastpasses for and getting on as quick as you can on your 60 day to get the experiences you want. And keep checking randomly because you never know! Good luck to all of you and I hope this helps you plan your next trip a little bit!
