OoO I just got my first smartphone a few weeks ago! What countdown app do you use?
You'll have to include in your write up how well it worked for you (please?).I don't have allergies either but I would welcome the lack of motion sickness too! (Great find, Mary Ellen!)
I have a droid. It's a widget (not an actual app) called the Disney Vacation Countdown. Just search for it in the andriod market (if you have that kind of phone) and it should pop right up. It was Free

I use Bonine for motion sickness. Dramamine knocks me out, but Bonine lasts all day and I can't tell I've taken anything - except I don't get queasy. It's great to not be "drugged" or drowsy. Plus, when the pharmacist saw I was comparing the two last year, he told me to put the Dramamine back, the Bonine was stronger and didn't have drowsy effects. Worked for me!
(I do take Dramamine in the car, so I can sleep - but Bonine every AM when visiting the parks.)
Would love to hear if Zyrtec works. My DD is on it, so it would be one less bottle to carry.
Might as well add Bonine to my list too. Never heard of it, but I'm always looking for new remedies!
I've heard taking ginger root helps too. I still have most of a bottle from when we went on a cruise last summer. I'm not sure if it was a placebo effect or if I never really got motion sick but every time I felt the slightest bit nauseous, I took a capsule with food and the trip was great.
You can get a bottle of 100 capsules at Walmart for around $4-5.
Oh, I forgot about ginger root!
Back in high school, on a bus trip, I got car sick. One of the teachers gave me some ginger root (thing) to chew on - it was kind of like a licorice stick and kept me at the front of the bus. OMG I felt better in no time. So, yes ginger root does help. I completely forgot about it. But I'm not sure to what extent. And in my case, it was an after effect that helped ...![]()
I have heard about ginger root but never tried it. So now I have a 3rd option

So here we have it ladies, 3 seperate remedies for motion sickness: Zyrtec, Bonine and Ginger root/pills (who knew the DIS boards could be so informative for your health?

I told DH last night about your suggestions. He liked the idea of me taking one and then allowing him and the kids to spin me like crazy on the teacups to see what happends! Figures

I don't normally have to take meds to keep from getting motion sick while at Disney. I just avoid MS and simulator rides. And I don't let the fam spin me like crazy on the teacups. Those are the only rides that make me sick (thank goodness!!!). Sometimes the bus rides to and from the park bother me more than the rides themselves.
With so many tricks up my sleeve (or out of a bottle!) I might have to be a little more adventurous this year...
