Just returned from Orlando- got out thirty minutes before the hurricane rains hit this morning. Just wanted to share my experience with Thrifty.
I booked an economy using the AU02 code on the Thrifty website. On the website it shows a 4 door car, Hyundai or similar for the special rate. Well, when we arrived they told us that the rate was only good for a two door Geo Metro. Well, needless to say, a family of 4 can NOT fit into a Metro. It's the size of a Matchbox car!
We upgraded to a midsize for an extra $6 a day. It worked out fine but I really felt like the AU02 code deal is misleading for the economy car. The code is probably fine for the van rate since they can't substitute anything else for a van.
In the future, I'll rent a car at the airport. The shuttle service is fast but it makes more sense for us to get a car at the airport and get out of there quickly.
