My Experience With Renting DVC Points On The DISboards

I haven't come across many posts about people's experiences with renting DVC points, so I thought I would share mine To make a long story short...I am DVC owner at the BWV. My brother was getting married during our most recent trip(Dec.5-Dec.12, 2014) which means our entire family would be traveling to Disney World. I only own 150pts at the boardwalk and last November we borrowed some points to stay in the 2 bedroom at VGF. We were in love! Of course when it came time for my family to pick the location of where we would stay in December, everyone's first thought was VGF As we started looking into it, everyone really wanted to stay together, which is where renting points for the Grand Villa came in. I've NEVER rented points before so I was clueless to the whole procedure. I read the tips on the DIS about how you do it and how to protect yourself as much as possible. I came across a listing by lovesDCL . He had more than enough points at a very reasonable asking price. We emailed back and forth and finally, we pulled the trigger and reserved his points. Within a couple hours of me sending him our travel party info., I received an email from him with the confirmation from Disney. Just like everyone else, I was nervous for the fact that you are trusting someone you do not know with a nice chunk of your money, but with lovesDCL, he just seemed genuine from the beginning. He would follow up with me throughout the weeks to ask me if I had any room requests that I would like to submit(FYI..I got the exact room that I requested when we checked in ) He sent me all the info on the Disney Dining Plan and he took care of adding that to our reservation. He also had his work cut out for him with our DME. We had 3 families staying in our grand villa..2 of the 3 families were arriving a day earlier(check in was Dec. 6 but some arrived Dec.5 so they didn't need DME) So he had to have just one DME pick up on Dec.6 and then had to submit 2 different flight infos for departing on Dec.12. Everything was taken care of flawlessly. I just want to say thank you to lovesDCL . By you renting out your points, you gave my family some of the greatest memories and helped make my brothers wedding day truly magical! and if I ever need to rent points again, I will definitely be shooting you an email

Good to share a nice story

We rented points last year (for use this year in a big family vacation which soaked up points!) and did a points transfer from another UK member which also worked very well. Alas not via these boards since a different UK Disney board now makes it so much easier - Disboards UK used to be good for that sort of thing, but not any more.
