We bought the 6 day Passport Plus p.h. through AAA for $216, and with it we had preferred seating for Aladdin, Muppets, Bugs Life, and Animation Academy, and a discount card for all of the stores and rest. in DTD. I couldn't believe the price, as the lowest I was finding for 6 days was $246, so if you have AAA, call them and ask about it.
Because of what we paid, I was worried that when we went to add the 7th day, we would have to pay the difference between the $246 and the $216 along with the $5. By the way, when I picked up the p.h. from Disney Travel in DTD, I asked them about adding a day, and was told they no longer were doing this. I said that I knew of people (DISer's) that had done this as recent as 10-13, and so he said to check with Guest Relations. So on our 6th day, I went to G.R., not the ticket booths, but the building to the far left of the gates. As I thought, the lady was charging us the $30 difference plus $5, and so it would have been $105, which we weren't going to do for one day. But...knowing how many different answers you can get when speaking with Disney CM's, I decided to wait a few hours and go back and speak to a different person. This time, he began looking at what we had on the computer, and I was preparing myself to hear the same thing, but he said "That will be $15 Miss"
Instead of adding a day to are plastic p.h. cards that we had been using, he gave us new paper cards. It said 7 day p.h. on it as well as our names, which the other cards didn't have. So the next time we go to enter the gates, the CM scans our cards, and it makes that happy sound, and we walk in, but my daughter, who was behind me, had said something at the same time, so when I turned around to talk to her, I saw that it said we had 6 uses left
I figured I either saw it wrong, or she was already doing the guest behind us, and forgot about it. We were just so happy that we would be coming back tomorrow at that point! The next day we head to the gates, the CM scans our p.h. and now I am really paying attention, and it says 5 uses left
Now DH and I are both confused, and then I realize, when he went to give us a 7th day, instead of adding one day, he gave us 7 NEW DAYS! Of course DD thinks we can just stay now for 5 more days, but this was a perfect teaching moment on doing the right thing. There was no way we would use those 5 days, because that's not what we paid for.
To make a long story short, yes, you can add a day and pay the difference between them. Honestly, I have no idea who was correct. The CM who said it was $105 or the CM who said it was $5. It has actually kind of bothered me, thinking that maybe we should have paid the $105. Anyways, my point in posting is because I know I was looking for a definitive answer on this, and by sharing my experience, hopefully it helps someone else. They didn't hesitate at all in Guest Relations, so this is something they do regularly.
I hope this all made sense and helps others!
