My experience trying to add a 7th day to our parkhoppers.

We bought the 6 day Passport Plus p.h. through AAA for $216, and with it we had preferred seating for Aladdin, Muppets, Bugs Life, and Animation Academy, and a discount card for all of the stores and rest. in DTD. I couldn't believe the price, as the lowest I was finding for 6 days was $246, so if you have AAA, call them and ask about it.

Because of what we paid, I was worried that when we went to add the 7th day, we would have to pay the difference between the $246 and the $216 along with the $5. By the way, when I picked up the p.h. from Disney Travel in DTD, I asked them about adding a day, and was told they no longer were doing this. I said that I knew of people (DISer's) that had done this as recent as 10-13, and so he said to check with Guest Relations. So on our 6th day, I went to G.R., not the ticket booths, but the building to the far left of the gates. As I thought, the lady was charging us the $30 difference plus $5, and so it would have been $105, which we weren't going to do for one day. But...knowing how many different answers you can get when speaking with Disney CM's, I decided to wait a few hours and go back and speak to a different person. This time, he began looking at what we had on the computer, and I was preparing myself to hear the same thing, but he said "That will be $15 Miss" :cool1: Instead of adding a day to are plastic p.h. cards that we had been using, he gave us new paper cards. It said 7 day p.h. on it as well as our names, which the other cards didn't have. So the next time we go to enter the gates, the CM scans our cards, and it makes that happy sound, and we walk in, but my daughter, who was behind me, had said something at the same time, so when I turned around to talk to her, I saw that it said we had 6 uses left :confused3 I figured I either saw it wrong, or she was already doing the guest behind us, and forgot about it. We were just so happy that we would be coming back tomorrow at that point! The next day we head to the gates, the CM scans our p.h. and now I am really paying attention, and it says 5 uses left :confused3 Now DH and I are both confused, and then I realize, when he went to give us a 7th day, instead of adding one day, he gave us 7 NEW DAYS! Of course DD thinks we can just stay now for 5 more days, but this was a perfect teaching moment on doing the right thing. There was no way we would use those 5 days, because that's not what we paid for.

To make a long story short, yes, you can add a day and pay the difference between them. Honestly, I have no idea who was correct. The CM who said it was $105 or the CM who said it was $5. It has actually kind of bothered me, thinking that maybe we should have paid the $105. Anyways, my point in posting is because I know I was looking for a definitive answer on this, and by sharing my experience, hopefully it helps someone else. They didn't hesitate at all in Guest Relations, so this is something they do regularly.

I hope this all made sense and helps others!

Sad to be home :sad1:

Thank you for updating us on your experience! I'm so glad it worked out for you and your family. :)

Strange how you get a yes and no answer and even different answers within Guest Relations, and it is stranger still that you got some free days (yay!)! I'll have to visit Guest Relations when I go on the 4th, as we will be there from the 4th through the 10th (aha! seven days!) and we're not interested in doing an AP this time around. Even though we go home on the 10th, it's so nice to visit the park early in the morning before we catch our flight home. If it's $15 - definitely. If it's $105 - we'll politely decline. ;)

Thanks again!

How did you get all of that free stuff with your park hoppers, and at such a good rate? I was told by aaa I would get 3 day park hoppers for the same price and only free parking. Any advice would be helpful. THanks!

Do you have the number for AAA? We have a card and are going the end of december so I am curious on what kind of deal we can get for our theme park tickets which is the last thing we need to get?

The official rule at Disneyland is that you lose any discount you had when you upgrade. So the OP got major pixie dust from the second CM, as the first first relations CM was doing it right.

Different AAAs are different! Each has it's own Disney tickets that they sell.

I agree with bumbershoot.

Just like if you upgrade to an AP and buy a discounted pass, you lose your discount and will have to pay the difference between what you paid and the current cost of the AP.

I just want to thank you for sharing. While I dont need to add a day I was looking for ticket deals and did not know about AAA passport plus tickets.....we are buying ours today. I have done a lot of shopping around and this is the best deal I have found for what is included. Thank you.

Great news for you OregonMickeyLover ... I had wondered how your vacation went ... glad to see you had a wonderful time!

I really think you will be fine and it will only be $5 per ticket. The more DH and I think about it, paying less upfront was the reason for the increase. This was the first time that we had a night flight and could go in the park the same day we were leaving, and I have to say, it was much nicer waking up on departure day knowing I would still get to spend some time there. We will be doing that as much as we can!!!

They asked us about an AP, but we live in Oregon and have been averaging a trip every other year, and it still would have been $160 per person!!! I think $15 was perfect :thumbsup2 I will keep my fingers crossed for you!

I live in Oregon, so I'm not sure if that matters, but this is what happened to me. I got AAA just so we could get the discount at Desert Inn, and was planning on buying PH through GAT or LMT like we had in the past. I was curious however, how much of a discount (if any) AAA offered on PH. They had me leave a message with the travel dept. and when she called me back she said "I know you are inquiring about our 6 day PH, but have you heard of the Passport Plus?" Obviously I hadn't and she proceeded to tell me what was included, and I forgot to mention that it also had the early entry into Toon Town and free parking. When she was done, she told me the price, and having only seen $246 and higher, when she said $216 I said "So, what's the catch?" She explained it that when Disney made the brochures for the 2011 Passport Plus Hoppers, they made the "mistake" of printing the prices in the brochures. Well in June when they raised all of the other prices, they couldn't raise these because they had already published the brochures and had to honor those prices with AAA. Although this made sense, I still couldn't believe what the price was and everything included! It really helped in DTD to have the discount card for restaurants and stores. We were able to do everything through email and over the phone, and when we got to DLR we had to go to Disney Travel in DTD to pick everything up. All we had to do was walk in the door, tell them why we were there, and they handed us our nice little packet. Oh, and we got the lanyards and pins too!!!! I'm sure Disney won't make the same mistake in the future, but it was such a blessing for us. Let me know how it goes for you!

Hi Aiden's Mom, my multi-quote didn't work when I posted in reply to Disney Gaga. I was also talking to you  As for a phone number, I spoke with a local office here in Oregon, but I will look up the number and post it for you as soon as I am done with this. Even if you don't live in Oregon too, they should be able to direct you to your local office. Let me know if you have any other questions!

I understand now that the first CM's price quote was correct. At the time, and not being too familiar with all of their policies, I didn't know, and considering how many different answers I have been given on other things, I didn't think it would hurt to check with another CM later on.

As for the extra 5 days, it never even entered our heads to use them because they aren't ours to use. We are fully aware that we were blessed with extra pixie dust, and are very appreciative.

You are sooo welcome! I know I appreciate having these boards as a resource, and we usually need to try and look for ways to save us some money, and if I can pass that along and help someone else, then great! Have a wonderful trip!

Great news for you OregonMickeyLover ... I had wondered how your vacation went ... glad to see you had a wonderful time!

Thank you so much! We had so many small blessings on this trip, and having it be our first trip with just the three of us, it was just magical :wizard:

I must admit that I am not to good about doing trip reports though. It is reeeally hard for me to get out of that post-Disney vacation funk, and so initially when checking out the boards when we return, it kind of makes me sad :sad2: I am really trying this time to stay on the boards and look forward to the next trip, even if I don't know when it will be :confused3

Thanks again for thinking of me!

I just returned from a, ahem, business trip at the convention center. Stayed at VGC studio on rented points ($194/night, tax included - highly recommended!)

I purchased a 4-day PH last summer before the price increase for $198 from aRes Travel. I knew on the fourth day I'd want a fifth, so I upgraded. After a bit of fumbling with her laminated ticket price charts, the CM charged me $10, the typical four- to five-day upcharge. On the fifth day, I knew I wanted a sixth. Again, fumbling, and the CM had to consult a supervisor. But then I was charged an extra $5 for the sixth day. In short, I didn't lose my discount with my aRes-purchased ticket. I can't speak to other ticket sellers; their agreements with Disney may be different. I paid $213 for a six-day PH, or $35.50/day.
