We were at Whispering Canyon Tuesday night. Senor Dusty Trails was our server. He came to the table, tossed straws and napkins and took our drink order. I told him I was extremely thirsty (after a day in the water park) and would he mind bringing me an extra iced tea so I wouldn't have to bug him for refills. He brought me out an 8 cup Mason Jar with this HUGE straw! He also asked if I needed abooster seat to reach the straw! I was LMAO at this point. I then asked him for some extra sugar (the 5 packets at my table weren't going to cut it for that huge glass. So he brought me out an ENTIRE case of SPLENDA..2000 packets! DD asked for a refill on her diet coke and he brought her out a teeny tiny cup (like what they use for syrup) and a huge straw like mine...a few minutes later he brought out a regular sized one. I was getting DD10 her dinner from the skillet and accidentally dropped a bean into her shake..so I had to ask him for another one, he brought it out no questions asked, or smart coments..I figured I was safe.

I also let him know it was her birthday. a few minutes later he came back with a microphone and a wooden pony. He called the room to attention, explained it was Ashlyn's birthday and sinceI was such a high maintenance guest, that I had to sing Happy Birthday as loud as I could, while riding the pony around the restraunt. If it wasn't loud enough, I had to do it in the lobby. If it still wasn't loud enough, he'd take me to the pool. Well, since I really didn't want to go to the lobby or pool, I sang as loud as I could while I galloped around the restraunt! Everyone in theplace was laughing and cheering me on. When I got back to the table he said Ashlyn told him I was a better dancer than a singer, so I had to dance with him while everyone else sang her Happy Birthday. Afterwards, she came over and gave me a HUGE hug.

Before we left, he handed me a bathroom fastpass (I had drank almost all of my tea!)

We had SO much fun! We're going to Primetime on Saturday and I hope we have just as much fun (although I hope it's directed at another member of our party!)

See ... that kind of hijinks just blesses my heart. We love it, for that very reason (and the fact that we're unrepentant carnivores.)

Some folks would be so offended, they'd go into anaphylactic shock.

That story is absolutely great!!! We too LOVE the WCC. We just ate lunch there last month and it was our 3rd anniversary and our server made us stand in the middle of the restaurant and dance while the entire serving staff sang "Going to the Chapel". It was great!! :goodvibes
That is a wonderful memory for years to come!!!

I want to go here so bad for our trip in December, but I'm afraid that is how my ILs would react! I may just make the ADRs anyway, and they may just have to get over it! LOL!

Wow...sounds like you had fun. Our family always cracks up in there. Its such a fun place (sort of loud if its extremely busy...) but still fun! :rotfl:

We have plans to go back in June here real soon...

glad you had a great time,
Esmerleda

Great story! I am so thrilled, I have never eaten at WCC, and since I have discovered the DIS boards..I am booking it!! My family will absolutely LOVE IT! I love reading all the stories.

thanks!

We love it too. i was so amazed when my 2 teen DD's got right into the act and had a ball. They are at the age where they think they are too cool for princesses and pixie dust and to see them have so much laugh out loud fun was priceless. When my daughter asked for catsup and received 32 bottles i thought she was going to crawl under the table, but she surprised me by instead waiting anxiously to share the joy with the next catsup victim!

Bathroom Fastpass :lmao:

I wish they had those at my local theater. Intermission comes and the men have no line--they go get their wine and cheese and have a great time. We women have to wait in line till the bells start dinging telling us to return to our seats. Once, several ladies and I commandeered a Men's room down in the art gallery, but when when we came out, there was a guy who talking to the "guard" we'd posted who was shocked, SHOCKED! that women at an opera would dare enter the men's room. We were all both princess: and pirate: that night, I guess.

I really want to try Whispering Canyon some day . . . might be worth checking out Wilderness Lodge, though I always thought the theming seemed a little too familiar (nothing too special about a Pacific NW lodge if you're actually from the NW)

Sounds like a fantastic night your girls will always remember.

We had the opposite experience at WCC...a server who wanted no part of the fun and antics regardless of how much we tried to get him going. The extent of the "fun" was his throwing straws on our table. The food was also disappointing that night--only lukewarm. We're going to give this restaurant a break until trying it again.

Thanks for the story! We are going there for our first time, ADR, for our August trip. I was kind of bummed that they had no openings for dinner, so we had to take a noon time lunch instead. Is it still a similar experience at lunch time? Sounds like a blast either way!

My DS ate there last year with her two children and LOVE it she said it was so much fun. So we are going to eat there 7 more days can"t wait. :rotfl: :rotfl:

I have to say I was thrilled with everything. I had been hoping for an experience like that..although I didn't really want to be the one to bear the brunt of it!

At first, I thought our server wasn't into it, he was very quiet, while the server in the next section was yelling and carrying on...but man did he make up for it..He was great!

Gotta go..I'm taking the kids to BBB this morning!

We had a great time with Senor Dusty Trails on our last trip--he had the entire restaurant make airplane and choo choo train noises to get dd and her friend to eat their dinner:

We too are going to WCC and I'm wondering what my step-mom will say! :lmao: .... but you know what .. I'm doing it for the kids as they will LOVE this stuff (and me too!!!). Heck, I wouldn't mind having to get up and ride the pony around the place. I'm sure I'd embarrass my DD. She already tells me that I embarrass her sometimes   That's me ... a LEO .. loves to be center of attention :woohoo:

Now I am even more anxoius, my kids are going to have a blast princess: pirate: it's their first trip so they will love it!!!:hippie:

KathVA...
Looks like we'll be getting to WDW on the same day! Maybe we'll see you there! :) And you're right...it's for the kids, so the ILs can just get over it! hehe!

I've been eating there since 1994. This will be my step kids first visit and I hope we get a great server. Last time DH and I ate there we had to dance and kiss in front of the restaurant since none of the diners there got invited to our Disney wedding!
