My DSIL made an ADR for the Lilo and Stitch Character Breakfast at 'Ohana on 11/21 at 8:15am for 12 people. Unfortunately, we have 13 people in the party and she forgot to call back and change the reservation. I contacted Disney Dining and they said they cannot fit that many people at the table for our reservation time and could only give us two separate tables at 11:20am. I want to cancel the reservation; my DSIL wants to show up with 13 people and play dumb.

I'm really afraid of doing this. First, I don't think it's right. Second, I feel that Disney and the folks at 'Ohana will probably turn us away and then we will have hungry folks and upset children who didn't get to see Lilo, Stitch, Mickey and Pluto. I also feel that during a busy time like Thanksgiving week, we shouldn't be wasting prime morning hours in a resort restaurant, but we should be in the park for opening instead so that we can beat the lines.

What do you all think?

When we were at WDW in Aug., we had ADR's one night at MM. When we went to check in, there was a woman in front of us who was claiming that when she called to make her ADR, they told her that it wouldn't matter if she had 5 or 6 at her ressie. She had made the ADR for 5, but told them there might be 6. She told the CM that they did have 6, and could they keep their original ADR ? MM's was completely booked that night (it was an EMH night), and the CM told her there was no way they would be able to accommodate that many. She screamed that they had told her on the phone it would be fine ! The CM tried to tell her that they could take the 5, or none at all, there wasn't enuf room at the table for 6. She asked to speak to a manager. The manager came out and asked the woman "how many did you make your ADR for ?" When she said 5, he said "sorry, 5 or none". She tried to argue with him, but he just kept repeating "5 or none". The woman left. We thought the woman had a lot of nerve, and didn't feel sorry for her in the least. :thumbsup2

It appears from your post that you would rather be spending time at a park, anyway, rather than going to a character breakfast at a resort. If that is true, and if your family group is small, maybe you could go on ahead to a park and meet up with the rest of your family a little later. That way your DSIL wouldn't be over the limit (maybe a person or two short) for the reservation and all would be well for everyone.

I wonder what kind of table would hold only 5 but could do 6? :confused3

I agree with the PP, does anyone not want to do this one and can head straight to the park and skip breakfast? Grab something CS or at the bakery on Main St.

During peak holiday times, I would not show up with extra in the party. (I am also NOT good at all at playing dumb :()

We went to O'Hana's for dinner in February - had an ADR for 8 people. We found out while we were there that two friends who live in Florida that we hadn't seen in years wanted to come meet us. I was too chicken to ask if they could fit two more - I also thought that would be inconsiderate. While we were seated, my friend asked the server if two people could sit at either end of the table (we had four on one side and four on the other), and she said sure, so we called our friends, who were waiting to be seated at Kona, and they came to join us. The server said it was no problem at all.

Maybe with a bigger group, there's not enough room for people to sit on the end.

I've only had one experience with this situation. I could only get a ressie at 1900 for 2 and needed 3. At first I was just going to take my niece myself and my husband would be on his own while we ate. That was fine with everyone, but I realized that taking a 4 year old to a buffet by myself would not be fun. So I stop by the restaurant the night before and asked about ressies for three for the next night - none available. Then I asked if they could cancel my ressie for two the next night. The manager heard and asked my what the problem was. I explained and he smiled and said "bring everyone, one more is fine, don't even worry, we want you to have a good time. Just check in tomorrow and tell them you are now three people."

I did as I was directed, even though I was a little worried, and we were seated right away.

I've read that this has been true for many guests on these boards. My manicurist even showed up late for CRT with more than one extra guest and was seated within 20 mins. In fact the story above about a guest being turned away is the only story like that I've ever read. I would imagine you would be fine to show up with one more, but I suppose its a risk
