My dog was poisoned by my neighbor on purpose

I do not condone poisoning animals, nor do I condone people feeding feral cats. In our neighborhood, there are several. DH has a live trap and turns them loose far away. While some may see 'this' as cruel,we get tired of picking up their crap, seeing them 'mating' in the street, getting in the trashcans, etc.

So your DH subjects other neighborhoods or areas to the feral cats? Why wouldn't he take them to the local animal shelter? ::sad2:

You are absolutely entitiled to your opinion. Tryin to sound rational in explaining why it's ok to poison someones pet, not so much. Seriously.
Huh? He never said that it was ok to poison someones pet. Seriously? You are really putting words in his mouth, aren't you? By all means though, I may have missed something on here. Please show me where he said that, if in fact he did.

He may not agree that the alleged poisoner is "crazy", but he most certainly agreed that it was wrong and sick.

OP, are you ever going to log on and post details of what happened and how your dog is? You had time to change your avatar, but not post any info? I find this to be a very bizarre post and a bit troll-like.
Wow, no one takes a moment to think that maybe she is at the vets office, or dealing with upset kids? Or how about she is just doing normal life things? Taking the kids to a sport, grocery shopping, sleeping.

Why don't we just pray that her doggie makes it and that the cops can find the evidence that this woman did this (if in fact she did), instead of jumping all over someone because they aren't sitting on the computer posting non stop updates to keep us all on the edge of our seats?

I have gotten wrapped up in threads and then the OP never comes back. It's frustrating, I know. But it hasn't even been 24 hours. Lets relax a little and give her the benefit of the doubt for now.

Any person who would poison an animal is sick and twisted, not to mention evil. I can't imagine having a neighbor like that. I hope the cops are able to get the evidence on this person and prosecute them to the fullest extent.

I'd like to hear more details, too. For all we know the neighbor has fertilizer and chemicals on their lawn that are poisonous to animals. The neighbor may have warned other people in the neighborhood to keep their animals off the lawn until the chemical have dried, but some dog-owners could feel that their animal's right to roam freely trumps other people's right to have nice lawns and gardens.
I don't know where the OP lives, but around here, dogs belong on leashes. If a dog is out roving around unsupervised, it faces a lot of dangers including this. Keep your dog under your control on a leash, and a crazy person can't get to it.
I totally agree. :thumbsup2 As much as I love animals, I won't allow myself to get all emotionally upset over a situation that could be as simple as the one I described above.

I'd be angrier at the dog-owner for not looking after the health and welfare of their pet rather than at the neighbor for dutifully warning the neighborhood that their yard was off-limits as a toilet and playground for a few hours or days.

Not everyone loves animals (or even likes them). I know many people that would kill a dog or cat for continuously pooping in their yard. Sounds harsh, but it doesn't make them crazy.

To the OP - I hope that your Champy pulls through. If he does, keep him away from that neighbor's property...

No, not putting words into anyones mouth, thanks for asking though. He said he knew people who would do this, compared it to speeding, and thought it legal...... but you go ahead and read way more into this post, too.

why in the world would anyone feed stray animals? take them in, take them to a shelter, etc.

we have a cat lady down our street who feeds outside cats. Cats should not be allowed to freely roam period.

Actually, I made no comparisons and I said that it was wrong. And I never said that it was legal. It seems that you might have reading comprehension issues... :confused3

Oh for Petesake. Anytime an OP doesn't come running back to a thread to give an update or to answer the demands of those who respond, IMMEDIATELY just have to be a troll? I'm so sick and tired of people jumping all over OP's for this stuff. So she didn't tell you why she believed her pet was intentionally poisoned, in what manner, with what drug etc...What is this, "Law and Order"? Maybe she is tending to her sick dog. Or maybe she has a life outside the DIS. Don't want to believe her? Fine...But cut the accusations.

And if she were a troll, everyone knows the best way to deal with one is to ignore them.

You people...seriously.

You jump on people for reasons that satisfy you. Let others jump on people that satisfy them. :confused3

Me, I jump in for arbitrary reasons, usually to introduce an alternative view point, which is ALWAYS attacked. If there is anything consistent about the Dis, it is that people are going to get harshly judged... :rolleyes1

Sorry it has taken a while to answer your questions. First off Champ made it through the night and is stable. He will have to stay at the vets till Monday.

This neighbor left a letter in another neighbors mailbox threatening to shoot any animal in her yard last week. She also tried to hit her small deceased dog with a stick in front of her and her children and then cursed her out. I tried to get her to go to the police but she did not.

Tuesday this week she found her bleeding from the bum and her dog died at the vet. The liver is being tested to confirm rat poisoning. I contacted animal control and asked about complaints about my dog. None on record. I also told her about poisoning suspicion. She was very helpful.

Yesterday when Champ was diagnosed by our vet, I went to animal control and she insisted I file a report. The Sherrif is now involved and investigating my complaint and the other neighbor complaint. The detective feels that the letter confirms her involvement.

So, these are dogs that are roaming free unleashed and unattended? Not that it gives her the right but, put your dogs in a fenced yard, on a leash, ect. They are not her pets, she didn't ask for them. My daughter was severely mauled by "the nicest dog ever" and her life will never be the same. It goes both ways as I see it. Keep your dog contained and there will be no issue for her or others that don't want dogs roaming. Just my two cents....

Thank you for the update and details. Good to hear your dog is doing better. Has anyone witnessed her entering your property or your neighbor's property to make contact with your dogs or leave anything behind for them?

I will ask again. Where did he say that it was ok?

Yeah, he may know people who are sick enough to poison an animal over something as stupid and small as an animal using their lawn as a litter box, but that doesn't mean he agrees with them.

As a matter of fact, since you seemed to have missed it, I believe he said
Downright mean? Absolutely. Disgustingly so.

Yeah, that sounds like he agrees with it and finds it ok.:rotfl:

And where in the heck did he say that it was legal?

Dang, I have seen people twist things around before on the DIS, heck I'm sure I have been guilty of it a time or two, but you guys are really twisting things to a whole new level on this thread.:sad2: He never said that it was legal. He never said that it was ok. :lmao: PLEASE show me where that was said. If I missed it, then I am sorry, but I have gone back and reread and still can't find it.

Thanks for the update. I'll say a prayer for your dog.

You seem to enjoy stirring the pot, particularly lately. Whatever floats your boat I guess.

As for me jumping on people...darn right. I will ALWAYS try to step in to defend those I think are being judged unfairly...that's what floats MY boat.:thumbsup2

I'm glad he's doing better. I'd make sure I would clear of the neighbor.

Did you find any evidence of the poison in your yard? Did your neighbor?

If the dogs were running all over and happened upon the poison in the "crazy" neighbor's yard -- that totally changes things.

We have been keeping the dogs inside and penned up since she started being an ***. She has been seen around my yard and also in her yard toting a hand gun that she likes to target practice with when our kids get home from school. I will let the Sherrif investigate becuase sane people do not fall off their rocker and kill animals because they do not like them. She has proper channels through animal control and the animal control lady agrees that she is suspicious.

I am the first to say that all dogs should be kept in a fenced yard and not allowed to roam free, but if the neighbor had an issue with dogs in HER yard she should call the dog warden/animal control or talk to the dog's owners. Poisoning the animals isn't the correct response.

If anyone is toting a handgun uninvited on your property, you need to have them arrested.

Speeding is illegal. Are speeders crazy? :rolleyes1

Downright mean? Absolutely. Disgustingly so.

Crazy? You guys must use a different definition for that word than the rest of society... :lmao:

Then again, it is the Dis...

I'm bored now....
