I was down stairs & noticed our 10 month old menace (oops, I mean puppy) was quiet and nowhere in sight. I started my hunt through the house & found her in the corner of my bedroom, quietly chewing on something. She had a tube of Neopsorin chewed into several pieces, trying to stick her big tongue farther down the little tube. Her face & feet are now nice & greasy, but that's okay - I guess she'll be getting a bath. Does anyone know if Neosporin will hurt her? I tried to look on the label, but she chewed it up. I have a very busy day & really don't want to call the vet, I'm afraid they'll tell me to bring her in. Does anyone know anything about this??

My girlfriend (pharamacist) once told me to use it for a sore on my dogs leg that she kept chewing on and wouldn't let it heal. I was concerned about her ingesting the neosporin, but she said it wouldn't be a problem.

I'm not sure about that amount though. I would call the vet. I would think if the dog is acting normal and you told them how much she got , they would tell you to bring her in only if it was necessary. They should know right away if that amount is toxic or not.

Good Luck!

Your dog ate half a tube of neosporin and you're afraid to call the vet b/c they might want you to bring it in and you're too busy today for that??????????????

Yes, I'm too busy for that, my son has a Dr's appointment in 1-1/2 hours from where he fell on the road, hit his head last night & is complaining with dizziness today, I don't really want to have to drag him to the vet as well. Sorry, but I do I have to put my kids first.

I called the vet & told them the situation & the situation with my son & that it would be hard for me to get her in today. They said she should be fine, maybe a little diarrhea but with her size (55 pounds) and with the amount ingested, just keep an eye on her.

I don't think this is good and I think you need to at least consult the vet. On the tube it says "If swallowed, get medical help or contact a Poison Control Center right away."

KK hope your son feels better. Glad you called the vet, figured that is what they would say. My labbie eats everything and is always fine, but I call the vet just to make sure. They always laugh. He has some really interesting poops to pick up -- with glitter and barbie clothes and frog legs in them! Glad your pup will be okay, hope the rest of your day goes better.

Thanks everyone & yes, I think she's gonna be just fine. I just had to chase her to get a paper towel away from her & now she's trying to get DD's blanket.
