My Do-Over PTR w/ Pics & Angry Travel Agents!

Most definitely! I don't like being trapped, even at the Mouse's house. And don't forget that when you stay onsite, it's free parking at all of the parks :thumbsup2 This means you can come and go as you please, and you're not at the mercy of the buses at the end of a very long day at Epcot.

We used the bus system for a while last year, and loved it for going to the parks... but we hated waiting in a long line at the end of a very long day, especially when all I wanna do is soak my feet in Epsom salt, lie in bed with a very stiff drink, and pass out so I can do it all over again tomorrow :woohoo: Waiting on a bus to head back to the resort ended our very magical days on a very unmagical note:rolleyes:

We discovered on day 3, that walking back to your own vehicle while everyone else waits their turn in line for a bus back to their resort was absolutely priceless... especially when priceless is the equivalent of $15 a day (after the conversion rate of course) ;)

Okay ladies and lurkers .... I've been a busy bee lately and have lots of little things to share with you! #1, I got my Disney Visa Rewards Card in the mail!!!

I'm a whole $67.00 wealthier... it's a good thing too since I'm broke after paying for the mini-trip in a couple of weeks

I also put together my geekfolio. What's a geekfolio you ask???
Well... in real life, I'm not super-duper organized. But when it comes to traveling... you could say that I'm anal retentive in the travel documents department. I must have every piece of information readily available at all times! I created the geekfolio about a year ago out of desperation.
Here it is!

8vqd6f.jpg

Yep, it's a cheap coupon organizer. Except I got to write what I wanted to on the tabs :)
15yjqe.jpg

The first compartment is the information for park n' fly since that's the info I need first. I even put tip money in there so I have it easily available! I usually valet the park n' fly so I tip that dude like $5.00, then there's the shuttle dude (or dudette?) and I usually only tip a couple bucks for that person. I figure I had better tip the one driving off in my vehicle well so that he protects Pixie ;)

The next compartment is my flight confirmation/booking stuff, followed by car rental confirmation... and other necessary documentation/confirmations/tickets/tip monies, etc. The only things that will not be included in the geekfolio will be mousekeeping envelopes and my AAA/Disney documents (which I should be getting within the next few weeks!)

Tonight I'm working on Mousekeeping envelopes & ordering my MNSSHP costume! I can't wait to share it all with you! :cool1:

:cool1: A costume.... I can't wait to see it. I still haven't decided what I will wear to MNSSHP...decisions, decisions.

Looks like all the pieces are coming together!! Excellent!! Great rate on the car. :cool1:
And your car is so nice. A friend of mine has a Prius. She loves it. I don't know if she gave it a name. I'll have to ask. I just paid off the Kia. It's a good feeling. The only debt we have now is the house.:cutie:

:worship: Congratulations! I know you had to work very hard to achieve that! I'll get there one day

Okee dokee... I think it's about time I update this little pretrip report! :)

I know I've built up this whole costume thing, and I hate to be the one to disappoint - but I do have something up my sleeve but it's going to be another week or two before I can unveil my plans. Unfortunately, my idea of a pirate wench hasn't worked out the way I had hoped. It doesn't seem I can get the costume in time for the trip! Afterall, we must consider that the MNSSHP is like a month and 1/2 before Halloween ;) No worries, as I said, I do have something up my sleeve!

I had to break down and order a new computer last week and have been working on transferring old photos. I came across my ToT photo- Just so you know, I'm insanely acrophobic but still try to do things despite my fears. Sometimes, it proves to be problematic..That's me...the only with the big pink arrow pointing right at her... holding on for dear life to the handle and the pocho :rotfl:

scan0004.jpg

I was absolutely petrified! Just thinking about makes my heart race, but I love the theming of ToT and I absolutely love everything but the dropping! Funny, it never even occured to me, until now, that I was sitting next to a DISer the whole time  If someone knows who she is, send her my way, I'll send her a copy of the original pic!

Only 34 days to go!

:cool1: Congrats on the papers!!! Now if only mine would come.:sad2:

:scared1: Tower of terror, I don't even want to think about it. My DD persuaded me go on it by saying"Mom it's not that bad, not scary at all" :rotfl: she knew I hate drops. Then just as the doors closed she said "Mom, you're going to kill me" no chicken exit possible:scared1: I suffered through it & vowed never again.

I hear ya. ToT is one ride that I don't ever want to go on again. I braved through it once, and that was plenty enough. It was after that ride that I realized I was never afraid of heights. I love flying. I love going up the incline on a roller-coaster. It's dropping that I hate; I have a huge fear of falling. If roller coasters did not have any drops, I'd be just fine. I guess that explains why I enjoyed BTMRR, but hated ToT and was also scared on Space Mountain. I'm such a chicken! :confused3

All I know is I was shaking for a good half hour, after they peeled me from my seat :lmao:

NOT SO QUICKIE-QUICKIE OF THE DAY:

MNSSHP Costumes... My dad has been a Disney fan for as long as I remember. Unfortunately, he's really just a true admirer and not a nut like me
One thing I love about him is that he loves Halloween and it didn't take any persuading to get him excited about dressing up for MNSSHP! We tossed around ideas for costumes and knew that we had to come up with something comfortable & fun! He wanted to go all scary and Universal on me, but I had to remind him that this is Disney, NOT USO, therefor, scary is simply unacceptable for the party :snooty:

1st costume idea: I'm a huge fan of the Disney cartoon Phineas and Ferb...so dad agreed to dress up as the evil Dr. Doofenschmirtz
012.jpg

and I would dress up at Candace Flynn, Phineas's teenage sister
candace.jpg

I soon realized that a lab coat with a black turtleneck was going to a little too hot for mid-September, and I just wouldn't look right running around the MK in a white mini-skirt

2nd Costume Idea: Pirates!! pirate: I'll admit that I'm a PoC dork. I love me some PoC and was one of the dorks who saw the first viewing of PoC at World's End. This was going to be easy to pull off... right?? Not so fast. I ordered two different Pirate Wench costumes for myself... neither of them were available for delivery before 9/13/08. :sad2: Dad didn't care, he was still upset about not being able to run around as Dr. Doofinshmirtz.

3rd Costume Idea: Well, this brings us to today. I have dad's costume all figured out and he's thrilled! :cool1: Check it out!

This one was sooo easy! I found this shirt
K465-300x300.jpg
on LandsEnd for $20.00- I'm going to iron-on the fuzzy letters for his nickname, "Zeek," throw on some bluejeans, a set of Mickey ears.. viola! :woohoo:

As far as my costume is concerned... I'm still working on it  Truthfully, I don't know what I'm going to do! Any suggestions???

Hey, you might get some ideas from buycostumes.com, they have some really cool stuff. I thought about going as Tink but I don't think anyone wants to see a 50 year old Tinkerbell so I'm going in a t-shirt that has a picture of a bat & says "bite me & by the way Happy Halloween".:rotfl2:

Going as a Mouseketeer was my back-up plan, actually. It looked reasonably easy to do -- I think the fuzzy letters are probably available from Michael's, and in a pinch, a white t-shirt could stand in for the short-sleeved mock turtleneck.

I haven't even started working on my Lilo costume, except that I managed to pick up a big flowery hair clip from the Dollar store a couple of months ago. I either have to find a suitable Hawaiian print-ish sundress, or I have to figure out how to sew one quickly. (Of course, it might be helpful if I could sew in a straight line... I hem my jeans at home because I'm too cheap to pay someone else $20 to do it, and I must say that it never look as professional as it should.)

rebecca....enjoying reading your PTR and am looking forward to reading more.
Good luck on your choice of costume. Can't wait to see what both you and your father will look like.
I think it is great that you will get to spend this extra special magical time with your father.

I love the idea of the mousketeers. You could get the same shirt for yourself and instead of a skirt find a pair of light blue capris, light blue ankle socks and sneakers. I think it would be adorable for you guys. ;)

:lmao: I may steal your idea because I LOVE that shirt!

You really should do the Lilo costume, you would be PERFECT for the role! :goodvibes I sew a little bit.. sun-dresses are the easiest to do. You shouldn't have any problem and could even do it as a beginner with a pattern. Just keep it real simple! This time of year I bet you could get the Hawaiian print on clearance!

Aww.. Thanks! I have quite a few lurkers who for some reason don't post on here but who send comments via text message, email, and private messages  Evidently some of my DISfriends don't realize that your supposed to comment here **wink wink nudge nudge** :rotfl:

Yeah but I really wanted to be a pirate!!!! :lmao:

So today I can officially begin the 1 month countdown!!! :cheer2: I know that there are several of us who are all going to be down there within a few weeks of one another and hate that we can't all meet. For those of you who I will be meeting, I'm very excited! :dance3:

Timmy (AKA Antss2001,) and I were talking last night and realized that we have a DIS meet at Jellyrolls that we didn't name! So for the purpose of my trip-report, I'll just call it something really original like "Jellyrolls Meet":lmao:
I'm most excited about the Jellyrolls Meet and going to the AC before it closes. I know I'll have the opportunity to go to AC next weekend when I meet Handsome Stranger, but it'll be really awesome to share it with Care (hopefully) and my dad :goodvibes Also, just so you know, we do have a babysitter & unofficial designated driver for the Jellyrolls Meet on the 13th! :woohoo:

YAY! I finally finished the Mousekeeping tipping envelopes!:goodvibes (They even have money in them, can you believe it???! ;) )

Here they are!

mousekeeping.jpg

I had a bunch of left over scrapbooking stuff from last year's disney scrapbook- I could have spend a lot of time printing specialty designs from the DISigners threads... like I did last year lol, but frankly, I just didn't have that kind of time on my hands this year! :rotfl: I basically just ran plain envelopes through my printer (just to print Mousekeeping) and then stuck a whole bunch of stickers on them! :) Let's face it, I'm sure the Mousekeeper would be just as happy if I threw a $5 on the pillow ;)

Keep it simple? I guess that I should nix the idea of having cute little ruffles on the shoulder straps. I'm going to have to do a hunt this weekend for the right material and a pattern that is easy to follow. I'll certainly check the bargain bins. Thanks for the tip, Rebecca. Just have to keep reminding myself that I should keep it simple.

I can't wait to meet up with you and Timmy, as well. It will be so much fun! Who's agreed to be our babysitter and designated driver on the 13th?

And we are *so* going to the AC together. We have to go flirt with Hathaway, drink some Kungalooshes, and help induct my sis into the Club ;)

OMG, I can't believe you're off to the World next weekend already! You'll have to let me know how things go with the Handsome Stranger. I'm truly lovin' living vicariously through you and Timmy.

Have you looked online for a simple sundress???

Dad is the babysitter! :lmao: He said he'd chill at the hotel then pick us up when we were ready to head back... I have a feeling, he might just sit over at ESPN club for a while though. Who knows.. lol

Hopefully, I will have been properly inducted into the club by then. If not, then you'll have 3 AC virgins on your hands ;)

Technically, I'm not off to the World :sad2: BUT, I am almost off to Orlando so that's almost as good :yay: So far as you living vicariously through me... well I know you can relate. All I'll say is after a while, you get tired of dating. I did. I didn't date for almost 3 years before I became engaged last year. Up until that relationship, I had never been cheated on... and it's sad how that changes your perception and trust level. It's only been in the last few months that I started dating again and sometimes it's okay...but really, it gets old after a while. Especially when you have not-so-good dates. You know the ones I"m talking about, the ones that aren't bad - but they're certainly not good.

I found out a long time ago that's very difficult to find someone that you can share values & interests, all the while having compatible personalities. Every now and then, someone comes along and restores your hope. That's why I love crushes. They offer hope. Even if that's the only purpose for God putting that person in your life, you find yourself being truly grateful and happy just to know that *that* part of you hasn't died yet. I just keep reminding myself that it's just a first date, perhaps a little unconventional and a bit romanticized with a little Disney magic, but a first date nonetheless. He could very well take one look at me & have a 2 minute conversation with me after he picks me up from the airport and think to himself "this is going to be one very long weekend." :scared: Oh crap! I hadn't actually thought of that until now :rotfl:
