My Disney trip is helping pay for my gas!

We don't shop alot at Krpger but this might be changing. We have done a little shopping there over the last few months but I assume the points are gone now. My wife has the little keychain card. Is there a phone # on there where I could call and confirm?

If you don't shop at Kroger a lot, check and see if other stores in your area that you do shop at have similar programs. We don't have Kroger per-say in WA, we have QFC, which I assume is a Kroger company since they sell Kroger products. Anyway, here I shop at Safeway because it is the closest to us and they have the same program as others have described. So look around in your area and see what is available to you.

Disney visa sent out the notice if you bought store gift cards they were not going to credit you with disney rewards.
But if I buy gift cards at Kroger, DISer have found they show up as groceries???? So we would get rewards.

I heard the credit card companies (i.e. Visa, Discover) have no way of knowing if you buy gift cards vs food at the grocery store, as long as the store you shop at is coded on your statement as "grocery" (i.e. many Super Walmarts don't count as grocery), you get the benefits your card offers. Unfortunately I haven't had any bonus promotions in a long time that offered additional points for grocery shopping to see if it still works.

Since you are all talking about the gas rewards, I thought I'd share DH and mines frugal tip that makes it a better deal for us.

At Safeway (our local store that does the rewards for gas) we have a gas pumping station. The limit on the reward discount is 30 gallons or $100 (might change now that gas is going up again...hope so). We drive DH's car more and mine is usually used for shorter trips and doesn't go to far outside the city. I went about a month without filling up in Dec-Jan., but DH needs to fill up a couple times a week (drives to work and to take DD to all her fastpitch activities).

Since you can only use the points on one fill-up, this is what we have started doing. We save our points and have been averaging 50-70 cents off the last few months (those rx come in handy :thumbsup2). When my car needs gas, we take both cars up and fill one then I hold the pump so it doesn't reset, DH pulls car 1 out of the way and pulls up car 2. We insert the pump and continue to fill up until the pump shuts off. Last week we were able to fill up DH's car all the way, and mine had over 3/4 of a tank.

We've seen a few other couples doing this same thing the last few times we've done it too. They only thing is we do make sure to pull the cars up far enough so someone can get to the other pump. Last time we did this there was a couple on the other side of the pump doing the same thing. They guy that pulled up behind us, was watching as we were all filling up and commented that it was a good idea, and he was going to do it next time too. When DH has to fill up between using our reward points, he just uses the Safeway 3 cents off loyalty points.

I've also seen at Kroger a few times where they will offer 4x the fuel points on gift cards. I'm going to do this before we go to Disney and buy the gift cards and fuel up with those points before we go!!! Gotta love Kroger!

de8212...When shopping at Kroger, every $ you spend you receive 1 fuel point. Those fuel points can be used to get the discount on gas up to $1 (1,000 points accumulated throughout the month). Example, If you have 500 fuel points during the month, when you fill up at Kroger you can get .50 cents off the price per gallon. They sell tons of gifts card -- including Disney. When you buy them there, they will double your points. Buy a $25.00 gift card, get 50 fuel points. They double points in the pharmacy and on different items throughout the month.

Our Kroger doesn't work that way. For every $100 spent, we get $0.10 off per gallon per fill-up at participating Shell stations. So if I spend $500 in a month, I can fill up five times in a month and get $0.10 off of each gallon I buy.
