My Disney experience with mydisneyexperience was...

Devil's Advocating a bit here...

I'd make the counter-point that brakes are a necessity to the operation of a car. MDX is not.

MDX is more like Climate Control not working. You still have Air-Conditioning, you just have to turn the dial and adjust the amount of air manually, rather than being automatically comfortable.

Also, there are no FordBoards that compare to the fanaticism of The Dis.

We are splitting hairs here.

I chose Ford and brakes and your response hinges on that.

Pick another product that has been touted and part of it doesn't work. Your choice.

Telling me how the other part of the manufacturing process is complex and works seamlessly doesn't mean that we should overlook the fact that part of it doesn't work, whether it's a necessity or not.

I think attributing this to "fanaticism" is like saying "we'll....if you weren't paying such close attention, you wouldn't notice that it isn't working."

That basically is what I'm saying, whether right or wrong.

And yes, we are splitting hairs. I think of MDX as a very minor optional component that if it doesn't work, meh. You think that at this point, Disney is advertising it and promoting it as part of your vacation and that it needs to work.

Both are valid, IMO. Either way, I think we agree that it's a shame that we even have to have this discussion, because there's one simple solution.... fix it.

I agree 100%.

I just returned from a trip using Fast Pass plus and have to say we loved it. We had a few of our days planned so we could use the difficult to get FP+ eg. the mine train, but also left a few days free where we decided the night before which park we wanted to go to. On these occasions I was able to get Fastpasses for any attraction we wanted (exceptions being the mine train and the frozen princesses).

I'll admit I got pretty lucky in one case. I'd selected Living with the Land as a FP+ in Epcot when it was still Tier 2 and when they switched it to Tier 1 I was able to switch it to Test Track i.e. I got FP for Soarin and Test Track in the same day!

Overall we much prefered it to the running around that was sometimes a necessity in the old system.

If MDX were a minor component, wouldn't it still be in test mode and not being used by all the park guests?
I'm reading posts from people at the parks and when MDE works it's terrific, and boy are you lucky! On the other hand, some guests are waiting for 2 hours just to be admitted to the parks because of Magic Band glitches.

I don't want to spend my valuable vacation time/money participating in Disney's "Clinical Trial". That being said I love WDW resort, it's beautiful.

We are bad at arguing with each other. Rabble rabble rabble.

We aren't very good at it...are we?

1,2,3....debate!

My DISney Experience with myDISneyexperience so far has been DISmal! :rotfl2:
Can't even get it to work for on-line check-in and/or make FP+ reservations properly. Don't even want to think about what's going to happen once we're there...
Called the help-desk this AM & the response was to give me the old dotcom address for on-line check-in. That didn't work perfectly either - but at least I was able to get it done; albeit without any room requests. I'm not even gonna think about FP+ right now!

Well, I just made all our FP+ for the two of us in September. Read this thread and promptly went and took screen shots! ;)

Hopefully they will have this all fixed before it's time to book our December FP+...though unlikely. When I'm booking for a party of 8 instead of just the two of us, loosing all the info would be much more frustrating. Luckily I get two adult only trips between now and December to test it all out! :cool1:

It is my understanding that unfortunately screen shots will not help in anyway.

That is the worst thing I see with FP+. there is no recourse, if their system screws up your screwed.

Actually they do. I've had what was described happen (2 of 3 in party have FP and one gets lost) and the CM just corrected it right there. This happened in the same spot, Little Mermaid.

Yes, they'll correct it for lesser attractions, but if your FP+ is lost for Elsa and Anna or the Seven Dwarves Mine Train they will not give you a new one or wave you through.

The thing that works better than than screen shots is paper print outs. But, then we are back to paper fast passes. But Cast Members can not refute the paper hard copy. The cast members have the ability to override at the attraction. We witnessed it on Mine Train and on the Little Mermaid.

From a consumer's point of view. I don't care how they do it. It's not my concern.

If I buy a product touted to work and it doesn't work....I want my money back.

I don't care why it didn't work. I don't care how intricate the factory may be. I don't care how hard the people in the factory work.

"Andy.....you should see the factory where your Ford Fiasco is made. It employs 30,000 people and has billions of moving parts. It's huge and everything else works really well. The fact that your brakes won't make your car stop is a small glitch compared to everything we do right. You should appreciate the fact that while you can't drive the car....you can sit in it and stay dry!"

Are you buying this?

Didn't think so.

Exactly, why do people bend over backwards to make excuses for shoddy service, low quality, or frustrating mistakes if it has a Disney logo on it? It's ridiculous, I'm a shareholder and I don't make excuses, I'm embarrassed that they don't give impeccable service for the price charged.

It's currently all about making sure Iger has the biggest golden parachute of them all.

Cast members can and do refute paper copies, because you could've changed your FP reservation after you printed.

That has not been my experience. I saw this happen a couple of times on my last trip. FP+ and MDE are still in "beta" and I find it hard to believe that if you have paper copies of your FP reservations that a cast member is going to refute those and risk a potential scene. I would be getting a manager involved at that point. Guest remediation and a little good PR is always a good thing for Disney.

There will always be those that try and game the system and 90% of most hacking is social engineering.

Not true. Mine happened on Anna and Elsa. Wife and Daughter's worked but mine didn't. Although I think they understand if 1 or 2 has it and there is a fluky third they may wave you 3. I think it depends more on the CM on how it plays out.

I know you have a background in all this stuff so I have to ask.... is this just a massive program that has major flaws or is it massive program that has some typical flaws but it's made worse with trying to educate a general public how to use it? Or none of the above?
