Good Day All,

Is there a place in the MDE app that you can set so Genie will only show certain types of food. I have just been put on a Gluten Free diet and would like only locations and items that serve Gluten Free, especially when it comes to Mobile Ordering. How do I know if an item is Gluten Free or not? Thanks

I don’t know. I have specific food limitations due to diabetes and I don’t (can’t ) use mobile ordering.
I’d look up menus to familiarize yourself with what restaurants have the best options for you

I don't think that feature you are looking for exists unfortunately.

I am gluten free and dairy free as well as having severe allergies to Shell fish and tree nuts.

I have scoured ALL the menus available on the DIS as well as other places and I know what I can and can't eat at CS locations.

I am planning a TS meal each day of my upcoming trip and have included my allergies on the reservations.

Shellfish anaphylactic allergy here,
If Shellfish is on the restaurant's menu I just bypass that restaurant ,,,, I don't want any cross contamination happening.
I carry an emergency card with me and an EpiPen.

Disney Food Blog has a good video and written info ,,,I am just not sure how up to date it is.

That feature doesn't exist, but certain mobile food places allow you to pick from specific food allergy menus. My daughter has tree nut/peanut so we would order from those specific menus. Not all of them order that. If I am at a counter service place, I can ask for a menu or binder of ingredients. Of course, you can always ask to speak to someone, but the filter you are looking for does not exist on MDE.

Thanks. I've done all that for our sit down meals each day but I am also hoping to eat at some of the quick service locations.

Note from that page:

To assist Guests with their dining choices, most Disney table-service and major quick-service restaurant locations offer allergy-friendly menus or allergy guides to address common allergies and intolerances. Guests also have the opportunity to consult with a chef or special diets-trained Cast Member if desired. Guests with food allergies should discuss their dietary requirements with a Cast Member upon arrival at the restaurant.

We use reasonable efforts in our food sourcing, preparation and handling procedures to avoid the introduction of the named allergens into your menu choices. While we take steps to prevent cross-contact, we do not have separate allergy-friendly kitchens and are unable to guarantee that a menu item is completely free of allergens.

Please also note that our allergy-friendly offerings are reliant on supplier ingredient labels, and we cannot guarantee the accuracy of the contents of each food item. Allergen advisory statements (e.g., “may contain") are not regulated and therefore not taken into consideration when developing allergy-friendly meals. It is ultimately up to your discretion to make an informed choice based upon your individual dietary needs.

Disney has their menus on their website, and many in their app; for many of the QS ones the allergy menus are in the app. Whether you would feel comfortable ordering form an allergy menu or not is a personal decision, keeping the above in mind.

For our family, with multiple food allergies, we always speak with a chef or allergy trained cast member to place our order, and would do so even if we had just one food allergy.

You certainly can eat at counter service. Just decline mobile ordering and order at the cashier podium. There’s usually a special one for food allergies, and have a special allergy menu.

I have fewer safe foods than ones I can't eat and trust me when i say, Disney World is the ONLY place that I can eat food I don't prepare myself. You will not go hungry but I wouldn't trust ordering anything without speaking to someone directly. Yes there are allergy menus but if you limit yourself to those you will find yourself getting mighty bored, super fast! Something as simple as leaving a sauce off can turn a menu item into gluten free if the sauce is made with flour! Identify yourself as having dietary restrictions as soon as you enter any place that serves food, heck even the popcorn carts, and tell them what you can and can't eat. If all you're needing to avoid is gluten you will be fine, if you need to avoid about 50 things like me, you'll still be fine!

One of the BEST places to eat gluten free food is Raglan Road in Disney Springs, they have dedicated fryers that they use for basically anything breaded you can dream of, seriously good fish & chips! You can get the same food from the counter service location attached to the patio, Cookes of Dublin.

Thank you for the link. I have emailed them as I will be going to Disney the last week of March. 😊

Every major quick service location should have gluten free options. You'll have to search for that on MDE at each park to see which locations. Usually the stands and places like Gaston's Tavern do not have gluten free meals.

No problem! I forgot to mention that there are a few stand out allergy locations that are praised in the allergy community - if you have the ability to get to Port Orlean's The French Quarter section has consistently delivered over-the-top care, in fact we chose to stay there for 3 weeks just because of the food. They have gluten-free Beignets that are awesome! Also available at Nomad's Lounge in Animal Kingdom now. The CS location in Pandora (Animal Kingdom) Satu’li Canteen is often given stellar reviews.

If you're on Facebook I can give you a few group recommendations that will let you see pictures of menus & meals!

FYI I was just on the Raglan Road Restaurant site a few days ago and there is a note about GF menu options not being available currently due to supply issues.
