I wanted to share my dining experiences from our recent 8 day trip with dh, dd6, dd4 and I. Feel free to ask any questions !!
We were on the DDP. I loved that they include on your bill now what the tip calculation is for 18 and 20 %, helps so we do not need to try to figure it out in our heads. We stayed concierge level this trip, and one thing I would do differently next trip...not get the DDP when staying concierge...we ate breakfast a lot in the lounge and also a lot of snacking during the day when we came back after the parks. Though with with DDP we did more character meals than we would do without the plan. The character meals a a nice relaxed way for the kids to meet all their fav characters without having to wait in lines.
Table Service:
1900 Park Fare Dinner - Grade: A - The buffet food was delicious. The roast pork and prime rib were very juicy and tender and full of flavor. All the sides and salads were also delicious. They had a great selection of kids foods as well, including chicken wings which I love and tried,.....mmmm yummy. Character interaction was great, my girls were in their glory !! If you like refreshing cocktails with dinner, try the pomegranate splash...yum!! Service was also top notch.
1900 Park Fare Breakfast- Grade: A - We are a family that LOVES breakfast and their buffet satisified all our bkfst obsessions including made to order omelettes which were very delicious! They had all the usual breakfast items and plenty of fresh fruits, yogurts, cereals to choose from and plenty of kid favorites as well. Great Character interaction as well and again service was fantastic!
Chef Mickey's Breakfast- Grade: A - again a wonderful breakfast spread, you can get all the usual breakfast items plus many other speciality dishes. They had a has brown casserole that was my fav!!! The kids liked the donuts and other assorted "sweets'. They had a large selection of breads/bagels and fresh fruits. The french toast as delicious, made with texas toast! This is our favorite place to dine and see the characters, lots of character interaction and all the classic favorites. The service here is always so excellent too.
Le Cellier Lunch - Grade: F - This used to be our favorite place to go...but no longer. The menu has completely changed, none of our past favorites are on the menu anymore, in fact the menu is extremely limited. DH and I had steak that was tough and seemed to have been reheated as it was very dried out. The breadsticks were stale. The ice tea was basically just water with a touch of tea. how do you screw up ice tea??? The server we had was obnoxious and we cringed everytime we saw her coming over to us. The restrooms were filthy, like they had not been cleaned in days. So, so disappointed with the whole experience. Others around us were complaining as well and when we left there was a couple talking to the manager about how terrible their dishes were. Its sad to see it go down hill
We talked to a couple who had eaten dinner there the night before we went, and they also said it was horrible and they were very upset about the price they paid for really bad food and service.
Play and Dine- Hollywood&Vine - Lunch - Grade: A - This was our first time going here and we LOVED it. What a fun fun place and delicious food ! They had a seafood alfredo that I swear I could have eaten the entire serving tray of lol The beef tenderloin was also delicious as were the bbq meatballs. There was not one thing we tried, and I think we tried everything, that we did not like, all around delicious. The kids were thrilled with the kids selections of nuggets, mac and cheese, meatballs, corn, broccoli and roast chicken. The desserts...mmmm some good stuff !! They had a 7 layer brownie that was heavenly and the kids really enjoyed the ice cream. The character interaction was so fun, and they do all kinds of singing and dancing sessions for the kids in the dining room area that are led by the "emcee's" that they have roaming the restaurant. Service was very good. Very glad we tried it and will definitley go back.
Crystal Palace Dinner - Grade: A - We never go wrong eating here, as always the food is delicious. They have a great salad bar, complete with cocktail shrimp. Love the rolls there, very crusty. The side dishes, entrees and fresh cut beef and pork are so very tasty. They have the best mashed potatoes and they also have an alfredo type dish that I absolutley loved ! Oh the roast chicken was another favorite here too. The desserts are heavenly, I most enjoyed the carrot cake and the double chocolate cake. The cookies are also very very good and so fresh. The kids selections are also very good, with the usual chicken, veggies, pizza, mac and cheese etc.. .and plenty of ice cream. The character interaction is great, my kids love pooh and his friends the best, so they really love coming here. They also do some dancing in the dinign area and do a parade. The service was also very good !
Grand Floridian Cafe Breakfast- Grade: C - The menu selection here was not so great and the portions also not so great. The food was just OK. I put it in the same catgory as a Friendly's or Denny's. Our server was excellent and the atmosphere was nice.
Counter Service:
Gasparilla Grill (GF)- Grade B - Good quick serve food, selection a bit to be desired. Delicious dessert options. ate here a few times.
Cosmic Ray's(GF)- Grade B - Good quick serve food, great selection here...something for everyone. Very clean for such a busy place. Fast service. Love the fixins bar.
Electric Umbrella(GF)- Grade B - Good quick serve food, like the location and dining area. Nice CM's here and fast service.
