EDIT: The word I was looking for is "impact". Jesus has impacted the Jewish faith and therefore, is relevant. Mohommad and Buddah don't impact my belief system, so they are irrelevant.
From the Jewish view,Jesus has no impact on their faith..

Weren't you listening? Her nun let them in on the secret. The giant Christian conspiracy's evil plot to create some fun for their kids was foiled by one of their own!

The sad thing is,my Mother would not move to Georgia because she believed people in the south all hated Catholics(not true)
Now I lived in Cross Lanes west Virginia..There really were hillbillies there , but they were very nice people..I just couldn't understand a worsd they said for the first month or so

Right exactly..Obviously Jesus is Relevent to Jews and Muslims..SOmeone asked about it's relevence to Jews,Whether or not the believe he existed etc.. To Jews it simply doesn't matter,It's irrelevent, in just the same way Budda or Mohammid would be

Since I was the one that raised the issue on Jesus and what the Jewish faith believed with him...I am not offended and I get totally what you are saying. Since the Jewish people are still waiting for the Messiah, (Boy I am hoping I'm keeping my facts straight on the Jewish faith here!) they wouldn't place a huge amount of significance on Jesus...not anywhere close to those reigions that view him as their Saviour. I have no issues with that. Every religion is going to place more relevance on one figure over another.

You're right, and I'm not trying to offend at all.My own personal believe is that the man did exist, but that's just my own personal opinion.. Jews are waiting for a messiah yes,but he's not a *savior*..Salvation is not a Jewish concept.
I am not devaluing the importance Jesus has to Muslims and Jews

As a gay man, I have encountered plenty of "harsh and condemning" Christians. While you very well may be loving and forgiving, many (but certainly not all) of your fellow Christians are not.

I am saddened that this has been your experience and I know it is true, because I have also heard and seen it. :guilty: Try not to judge our God based on the mistakes of His people. HE is a loving and forgiving God  , even if the people who follow Him don't act that way. :sad2:

Jesus may not have an impact on individual Jewish faith because that person doesn't allow Him to. BUT, He has had impact on the Jewish faith as a whole historically. He is the Messiah that the Old Testament predicts. This is a huge impact on the Jewish faith AS A WHOLE.

Many Christians would be offended singing a song about another religion.

We are Christians, & I've never been offended when another faith has been represented at my DS's school. The school he attended in K-2nd grade celebrated religious holidays the week before winter break. They spent a day learning about each religion. It broadened his knowledge, which is what school is supposed to do. I don't understand how anyone could be offended by that. As long as there's noone in the room recruiting, I think it's a good thing.

The only songs I've ever been offended by are those that have vulgar language. I don't want my DS exposed to that. In my experience, it hasn't been Christians that have been fighting to ban other religions from schools. IMHO, it's those who are so closed minded that they think they're opinion is the only relevant one who cause problems.

Are you authorized to speak for all Christians? :rotfl:

No. Jesus has an impact on your faith, Christianity, but to Jews he means nothing at all. We never think of Jesus at all unless we are being persecuted in his name.

Uh, you do know that the Winter Solstice and the Vernal Equinox were important religious celebrations long before Christians pitched up and commandeered them, right?

As a Jewish person, I completely agree with this statement

What exactly does this have to do with the fact that I was pointing out that the Easter bunny and Santa Claus weren't real people? :confused3

You complained about commercial interests hijacking your holidays but the practise of giving gifts at "christmas" and venerating the rabbit at "easter" both PRECEDE your religion by thousands of years and based on, probably, more credible cause.

OK. This is so funny that I had to quote it and comment even though it is way OT. Do you mean to say that you agree with the current Republican economic philosophy of reducing taxes for the rich and cutting programs for the poor?

The Republicans reduced taxes for everyone who paid taxes.

No, I can't speak for all of them, but I don't think I implied I could. :confused3

This is a quote from my PP. In my experience, simply means that the Christians I know & have experience with have no problem with it. I really didn't think that sentence was that difficult to comprehend.

Plenty of Christians believe that their God is harsh and condemning. You need to go no further than seaching other religion threads here on this site for proof.

I've seen very little "proof" of this on the DIS.

He's loving and forgiving. :sunny:
