BLACK B-E-A-R in the community where I am having our house built!

My DD4 & I are in the process of moving. Twice in the near future actually. We've sold our house & have to move to a temp home until our new one is built. She has never moved before & is a little nervous - ok a lot nervous. She ask me if we could drive out to the new house tonight to make her feel better.

Sure honey!

So we do, & just as I turn into the community - a BLACK BEAR pops out of the woods, darts across the street right in front of our car & into the woods on the other side!

What a way to say, "welcome to the neighborhood sweetie, see, nothing to be scared about."

Thank goodness she wasn't to freaked out. We actually thought it was kind of cool after the shock wore off & I could drive again...slowly - very slowly. ;)

hehe Been there. Right after I got either my driver's license or learner's permit (don't remember) I drove all the way down my road following a cub...I was so afraid the mom was going to come out! My dad was there, but I'm pretty sure he wouldn't stand much chance against mommy bear!!

That is just what I kept thinking. Where's the BIG daddy? :p

Funny thing is, I was so alert because I was being very careful looking for deer. tee hee! BOO!

I dont live that far in the Boonies I see coyotes, fox, turkeys, deer, otters, beavers the weirdest thing is down where I work which is in more of a urban area (Lowell Ma) is where I saw a Moose!

I think that is NEAT!! I love to see wildlife!!

All we get here are coyotes, and an occasional armadillo!!

After the shock we were actually pretty excited and joking about it. Thank God Maddie wasn't scared. ::yes::

We live in Myrtle Beach where we see dolphin, egret, pelican, jellyfish etc. & even the occasional deer when driving off the main roads....but a bear - I was litterally spooked silly when we saw him. My eyes are wide open from now on. :earseek:

The really funny thing is our new development is called The Farm at Carolina Forest! Guess they were serious about the name! ::yes::
