BTW that is not a huge district at all. Our district is one of the largest in the country and that is smaller than one of our regions.
We have 6 regions all with multiple high schools, middle and elementary schools. we are in region 6 with 5 high schools. Entire district has at least 30 high schools and numerous middle and elementary schools. I have 4 within 10 blocks of my house.
Well,bless your heart.

OP- congrats to your daughter. My son will be applying for positions for the next school year. He's majoring in deaf studies and is looking to get into the school district to be an interpreter for the kids.
In most states your son will have to at least have a state level to interpret in the school system. Some require national certification via NIC or EIPA. Hopefully he is a program that is preparing him for the testing required. There are both written and practical exams
The OP stated that her daughter is going to be teaching in a huge district and I was commenting on that fact. It doesn't take away from the fact that she got the job abd I did congratulate her on that. The size of that district is a nice sized district.
I work in a huge district. 3rd in the nation I believe. Wish I was in a smaller one.
Well,bless your heart.
Special Education is about the only department in most school systems that has a growth each year. Most schools in our area are only hiring special education, be it teachers or aides. (BTW, a person is an aide, an object is an aid. As a special education aide, I'm a bit touchy about being called an object, since we are often treated as such)
Congratulations to the OP's daughter. I've found special education to be a very rewarding, frustrating, exhausting, thrilling, exasperating, heart-warming career.
Don't tell me he did it without reading the DIS.Yes, thankfully he was smart enough to find out what would be required of him to succeed in his chosen field.![]()
