My DD talked back to Mickey Mouse!

This morning my DS and DD were watching Mickey Mouse Club House while they got ready for school. Mickey asked the usual, "Do you see ____?" DD said (with hands on hips), "Yeah, and you would too if you'd turn around." I jokingly asked DD if she just talked back to MM? She just laughed. The whole thing kinds of caught me off guard. I never thought one of my kids would a smarty pants to the MOUSE!

I'm constantly thinking things like that when those types of shows are on. IMO the only kid's show person who could speak that way without sounding condescending was Steve from Blue's Clues. Even Joe can't do it, he always just sounds really clueless. Oh, well, Nina from the Good Night Show does it pretty well.

But Mickey, Dora, Diego, Joe, and allllll the rest of the characters who do the "can YOU see/hear whatever?" thing just rile me, and make me think things like that.

So if DS said that, I'd just crack up and probably change the channel with him!

LOL. My DS (then aged 4) did that one better back when the Land's revolving restaurant hosted an ice cream social with characters -- he tried to STAB the Mouse!

DS is an Aspie and has always hated characters, but he would go to the Ice Cream Social because ice cream is one of his faves, and that was GOOD ice cream. So, the characters were doing their rounds, and Mickey gestured that he would like some of DS' ice cream. DS was frightened but determined to defend his ice cream, so he stabbed Mickey's hand with a fork. (Luckily it didn't go through the glove, thank goodness.)

Cute. I socked Dale (as in Chip n Dale) in the nose at Disneyland when I was a toddler. My mom was holding me and he got too close. Apparently I didn't appreciate the huge "rat" getting in my face.
