My DD is turning 2 while we are at DW, so of course we are having breakfast at the castle. I bought her the Cinderella costume to wear, and she absolutely refuses to put it on! She likes to look at it.....but acts scared when I ask her to try it on!! This is so frustrating! LOL

I can totally relate. My mom bought the 3 costumes from my DD for her 2nd b-day. She loves the princesses, talks about them all the time, sings the songs and constantly plays with the castle we got her the last time we were in WDW but she doesn't ever want to put the costumes on! Sometimes she wears the shoes, but that's it. I'm hoping she's still just a bit too young and will eventually play with them. We have breakfast at the castle too (in Dec)...I'm so excited!!

Right now our just-turned-2 yr old DD won't put her Cinderella outfit on. We found why....The netted fabric is itchy on her. It bugged her one time and now she wants NOTHING to do with it. I'm going to give up trying for awhile and then hopefully try again with clothes on underneath. I hope this isn't a constant thing because I would love for her to wear her Princess outfit at WDW in January.

:earsboy: :earsgirl: princess: princess:

Does you dd like to play dress up yet. My neice just turned 3 and she's been playing dress up for about a year. She loves all her pretty clothes including the several disney princess costumes she got for play last year. I would try introducing it that way to see if she likes it then.

She likes to "dress up", but has only really done so in her own clothes so far. I got my 2 year old niece to put it on, but that didn't sway her either! She LOVES the shoes though! Maybe we will just have to wear those! LOL

My DD (1 year) does like hers either. I think it is also the netting and it is ichy. Although sho is only 1 and was given to us as a hand-me-down.

We went through the same thing--except with a VERY expensive Easter dress that had a tulle skirt. They don't like the itchy! My DD spent her 2nd Easter in her onesie after an hour long fit over the dress.

Some of the costumes even have tulle or long ends of that synthetic thread where the arms connect to the bodice and it drives them nuts. You can go and get some color coordinated felt or fleece or any other really soft fabric, and if they are old enough to reason with, show them that you are putting it on the inside where the itchy is. That's how we finally got DD into her first recital costume.

I've also heard moms say that they offered to let an older sibling or dad wear the costume and that convinces the little one that they really want to wear it themselves.

Good luck!

we went through the same thing. dd loves JoJo so we bought her the costume. She flat out refused to wera it. I even tried to do practice treak or treating. I got out the candy and she still refused. We ended up returning it and she will be Boo from monsters inc.
