My daughter was assaulted

Sending you and Sian lots of :grouphug:  :grouphug:

My friends daughter has been bullied for a long time and the school won't do anything because most of it happens outside of school. School's also don't want to take action as it looks bad on their record if they expel pupils.

I looked at the thread title ands said "OMG, poor Sian!" :grouphug:

I hope that things get sorted out very quickly.

OMG how awful! I really hope she is feeling ok and this other girl gets repremanded accordingly!

That is awful behaviour, she should be expelled. The school should have zero tolerence on bullying and fighting, but as already mentioned, they don't want it to reflect badly in their stats.

My daughter was attacked by a girl in school last year. It was an argument that flared up, fuelled by a girl who was a known trouble maker and who had only just joined the school after being expelled from another school. Laura wasn't hurt, a few scratches and scrapes, but her new glasses were knocked off and trod on.

The school also suggested that Laura take a day or two off, but she wouldn't, as she didn't want the other girls to think she was afraid of them.

In the end, the trouble maker moved on, not sure if expelled again, or if she just moved, and Laura and the girl who attacked her are now on speaking terms, though not exactly good friends.

Sending you and Sian some TLC.

:grouphug: to you and Sian that's awful :(

I hope the school become more helpful. A friend's child has problems at our local comp and the school has been worse than useless.

Well, Sian did go to school today - I encouraged her to go for much the same reasons as suggested by motheroftink. I did pick them up this afternoon, though, and because I am away with work tonight and tomorrow, the school have given her and Rea permission to leave 15 minutes early to walk home.

Apparently, this girl has been spreading rumours today that I smacked her in the face after I found out what she did to Sian (which is completely untrue, although I wish I had). The sad thing is that half the kids seem more concerned about what I 'supposedly' did to this girl than what she did to Sian.

However, I have had Sian's head of year on the phone this afternoon and she assures me she is dealing with it. Apparently, another teacher witnessed the attack yesterday so there is no doubt int heir minds about what happened.

Thanks for all your good wishes - and the PMs. I will reply to those of you who PMed me but, unfortunately, I'm off to a conference in about 30 minutes so it won't be tonight.

Suffice to say, it has left me feeling somewhat helpless that I couldn't put an end to this or protect Sian from this girl but I sincerely hope she gets what is coming to her.

I'm so sorry Sian had to go through this, how awful. I was bullied myself (more verbally than physically but either way it's painful) and both of my schools' (primary and secondary) anti-bullying policies were an absolute joke. I hate when the victim is told to stay off, it's not how it should be at all. I wish I could offer some advice but I can only hope, like you, that the perpertrator gets what is coming to her  Best wishes to all of you, I always hate hearing of bullying as it's something close to my heart.

Poor Sian! Teenage girls can be so nasty. If you arent happy with what action the school takes really push at them to do more, if they think they can take an easy way out they will, if you threaten to stir up a fuss then they will have to do something as they wont want the bad publicity.

2 of my students had a slanging match in my class last week and I thought one of them was going to thump the other one, it was the first time that has ever happened to me as I teacher and it was horrible because I was thinking OMG am I going to have to try and break it up! :faint:

Hope you get this sorted out quickly, hugs to Sian. :grouphug:

Oh Joh, I am so sorry you are going through this. Sian, I am sure will be a better stronger person in the long term but that leaves you feeling helpless for now

Good news (as good as it can be) that the attack was witnessed by a teacher so at least it isnt her word against the nasty girl who attacked her

Fingers crossed the girl gets what's coming to her, suspension from school and the telling off of a lifetime at the very least :sad2:

so sorry for all of you. Hope you could concentrate at your conference. You must be feeling so miserable. Really hope things work out soon

that is awful your poor daughter, i hope you pressed charges.

bullys are disgusting people who need to be punished though schools never seem to do anything.

and to suggest your daughter stay off is like admitting defeat the other girl should have been expelled,

Im sorry but bullying really gets to me, I was bullied at school, right up until we managed to get charges pressed and the girl was ecluded (by the way she was bad through and through and is now in prison on drugs charges)

Hello Sian mum hope that your DD is feeling better.:flower3:

I'm in total agreement with you that the bullies are the ones that should be kept off school and not your DD.:cutie:

It seem to be yet another case that the ones in the wrong are the ones that come first not the victims. :sad2:

Joh, this is terrible, please send Sian :grouphug: from me. I hope the school sort this out and that Sian can start to recover from it.

So sorry this had to happen.

Im so sorry im late with my post on this Joh but Im just catching up, what a terrible thing to happen to Sian, I was bullied terribly throughout my school years and it still brings back awful memories of it now when I hear something like this, big hugs to you both:hug:

Sounds awful.

As a teacher I am disgusted at the schools response to your daughter being assaulted. Consider contacting the police and if no luck with the Headteacher contact the Chairperson of the Governing Body and even your LEA

Good luck
