My daughter just turned 18.

My daughter just turned 18. she is so bummed because she wants to hang out with the 13-17 y/o crowd. Can we get away with this? Do they have to prove their age?

We had someone with our group in this exact situation, and yes, they take note of age, it's in the computer - I think he had a choice of hanging out with the teens, or being in the "adult only" areas, but not both? (adult only = 18+) As in they didn't want that crossover - either be with the teens, or take part in some of the "adult" nightclubs.

Don't know how they'd have checked actually...unless it was a reservation at Palo's or something, where the name is in the ressies and therefore it's a quick check of the computer...

Mandy, nope she can't. Her KTTW card will be coded as an adult. But then again perhaps they don't check the cards at the teen clubs?

Our son turned 18 a month before our cruise and he didn't want to try to fudge it as he felt it's time to 'cross-over' and see what Mom and Dad have done for years! He had a blast!

I understand your daughter's request. My son has also just turned 18 and his cousin is 16. When we travel we are going to ASK at the club if they make concessions. As I have said many times on this board (and people have failed to comment), DCL does a great job accomodating various age groups but it seems the 18-20 YO crowd is the least thought of. The music played in the Adult Clubs is enjoyable for me and my friends but a bit outdated for most 18-20 yo's that I have met.

I can understand COMPLETELY why DS does the age requirement guidelines. To think of an 18 year old (someone else's 18 y/o)being in the same group with my 13 y/o is pretty scary!

We'll see what happens. I know she'll have fun either way. She's just looking at all of the fun activities the teen group does. More fun than hanging out with mom and dad.
