My daughter HATES princess anything! Vent!

My husband and I are big Disney fans. I should say my husband is Disney crazy. We got married at WDW and we're also DVC Members. We have a 12 year old daughter. We started taking her to Disney at age 2. My husband couldn't wait until she was old enough to go on Splash Mountain with him (his favorite ride). But my daughter doesn't like to go on Splash Mountain and many of the other rides and she is actually not into Disney as much as her parents. GASP! When she was young, I managed to get pics with many characters. Thanks goodness because now she will only look at them from a far. She never wanted to do BBB and found the princess dresses to puffy and uncomfortable to wear for any long length of time. Years ago we took her to DL and did a character meal with all the princesses. What a disaster! She wouldn't pose with any for pics and spent the entire time under the table. We did go on a Disney Cruise last year but she could gave less about the Disney characters and theme, she liked the pool, Castaway Cay and going to the buffet at Cabanas.

What about Princess Leia? She has some pretty awesome hairdos but she's also appealing to more rough and tumble kids too. I dressed up as her for Halloween and my boys were quite impressed.

Definitely do Pirates League. My 6 year old DD who is into princesses has done both BBB and Pirates League. She said she enjoyed Pirates League more.

I'll echo the other posters and also suggest the Pirates League. I think your DD would enjoy that experience based on how you've described her. I have three daughters in my crew. Oldest DD loved the princesses and dressing up when she was little; but we didn't get around to going on our first Disney trip until she was 9 and at that point she was over the princess phase but still enjoyed meeting them in the parks. She did enjoy getting the mermaid makeover at the Pirates League though. I think that particular makeover is so nice for girls that still like getting made up but have outgrown the princess phase. My middle DD is my tomboy of the bunch and from the time she could talk she has refused to wear skirts and dresses of any kind and has never been into princess anything. I couldn't even bribe her to wear a princess dress when she was 4 back on our first Disney trip  . However, she is excited to do the Pirates League with youngest DS on our trip this week. She is getting the empress/"girl" pirate makeover and will wear a t-shirt and shorts. My youngest DD is 3 and is really into the princesses and dressing up. We don't think she's quite ready for the BBB experience just yet (we'll save that for when we go back to Disney in a couple years);but she has her own assortment of princess dresses that I've packed for her to wear during our trip. :goodvibes

Op: independent minded child on ur hands.. good for her, and you... whatever she likes and/or is into.
And I like that hat by the way, lol.

Have a great trip!

My youngest dd never liked anything feminine, and especially nothing pink.
A couple of years ago (when she was around 14) she "came out" to me as transgender.
I feel bad about all the times I tried to dress "her" up, and make her wear girly pink things.
Enjoy your children for who they are and what they like. We really have no control over their feelings. We are only lucky enough to watch them grow and evolve.

Be careful what you wish for. My little anti princess DD turned into the biggest girly girl at 13! Suddenly I am paying a fortune for clothes and jewelry and make up. Her dress for the upcoming Spring semi is the most princessy dress ever. While I don't have that classic pic of her dressed as a princess, I do have some adorable shots of her as a pirate.

Hooray for you, Elliesmommy! It's good to vent when you need to because it lets you move on, explore and embrace the options that truly suit your DD's personality. She's ALWAYS royalty in your heart, no tiara required.

Four daughters and they all like different things... Our youngest told Snow White she looked "creepy"! I wasn't sure what to say as my dh stood laughing. She later told us the princesses are "so weird" looking and she wanted nothing to do with them. Our oldest could have care the least and our second and third still love them. I've learned through the years that you never know what to expect with kids.. she'll hug a mouse and call a princess creepy.

Seriously, you had an awesome idea. Even though it was sold out, I designed and ordered this t-shirt! You inspired me :D Thank you! FYI-the lettering and buns are all black glitter print XD
She really wants to go to the Star Wars Dessert party. I made this t-shirt and ordered her tix to the party.

Thank you for showing it to me! I'm really glad you clicked, I figured most people wouldn't, or wouldn't take it in the spirit it was offered. :) Your design is adorable.

Not the poster you were quoting but for me personally if someone is going to show me some Disney crafts/outfits, things to buy etc I'm all for seeing what they posted :D
