Her dates of travel are june 4 to june 12 2005. I think a studio would be fine.

I dont want to make it hard for her on her first trip to WDW. Should I set her up with point rental? Or just tell her to book through disney and stay at a value hotel?

I am a newbee, just bought into dvc, havent even been home yet! SSR Not aware of how the rental process goes. Any tips?
Thanks

It depends on your cousins situation. Does she have kids, what ages, going with just DH or just friends? Also depends on her budget and how many of those days will she actually go to the disney parks. Disney now makes 7 night trips pretty affordable with their park tickets included and it is very easy for first timers. With that said, if she has kids, esp young ones, a studio is a nice luxury as well as a 1 bdrm. We bought 7 day hopper passes that never expire and then rented a 1 bdrm for 1 wk at OKW for $900 off of ebay last Sept and loved it, esp w/ a young one. Being able to put our 3 yr old down to sleep or nap and still have the living area/kitchen to relax just made the vacation wonderful for us. Also having the fridge saved us a ton of money as we ate breakfast and lunch (during her naptime) there everyday. We didn't feel the pressure to constantly go to parks and only used 4 days on our passes. We are looking to use the rest up in Dec and are planning on renting points again. This will probably be our last time though - we will be buyers if this trip works out well.

According to Tagrel's site, http://www.tagrel.com/dvcCompChart.shtml , the cost for a studio for those dates range from 125 to 155 pts. Figure $10pp and compare that to the value resorts.

You may want to be careful on how you approach making arrangements for relatives. Some people just don't get it, (my BIL included). There have been many threads here regarding problems with relatives. My recommendation would be to let her know about the option of renting DVC points on her own and back off. People seem to "catch on" about DVC at their own pace. I'd hate to see you waste any of your points before you ever get to SSR. Good luck.

Why tell her to stay in a value? Just curious...moderates aren't all that much more money and Disney just added refrigerators and coffee makers to them. It is almost as good as a studio.

I wanted her and her family to see DVC as an option. She would be renting her own points. I am not giving mine up, but have invited her on our first trip in 2006.

It seems about the same cost as a vaule but you get the great pool. The rooms seem much larger with microwave, mini-refrigerator, wet bar, coffee maker & Private porch or balcony.
