So last night I started my baking. Pumped out some sugar cookies (only burnt one cookie sheet! odd...) and then I started on my pretzels.

I was "drizzeling" pretzels this year...I bought green and red Wilton melting chocolate (that I've been successfull with in the past). I lay out my mini-pretzels on wax paper on cookie sheets...making sure they are in a flat layer. And I start to melt the chocolate.

I put the RED chocolate "melts" into a GENERIC zip-lock bag (sandwhich size) and start nuking away at 30 second intervals at 50% power.

Finallyl the choclate is melted enough in the bag, I snip off a tiny hole at the bottom, start working the chocolate to one side of the bag, and begin squirting it over my pretzels. Everything is going great until....

SPLURT

:earseek:

Red. Chocolate. EVERYWHERE.

I now have a DANG good excuse to paint my kitchen! The cheap generic bag just EXPLODED on me sending chocolate EVERYWHERE...except on the pretzlels.

grrrr..ok...fine...clean up...nix that idea...just dip them and deal with the mess.

then I think - what if i only HALF dip them?

My pretzels came out so cute! I did an entire bag of mini-pretzels...I have some that are half-dipped red, some half-dipped green...and then (becuase I still had a tray of HALF drizzeled pretzels), I figured out that just using a spoon and drizzeling the chocolate over the pretzels works BETTER then the bag (and it looks prettier!) so those pretzels are drizzeled in green and red chocolate (actually - vanilla flavored).

BUT...I still have a slightly pink red smear on my wall...hehehe...i'll hit it with the magic eraser...otherwise...heck, we needed to paint the kitchen anyway! heheheh

Just wanted to share...so those doing pretzels...the HALF DIPPED ones look cute, keep your hands a bit cleaner, and are a breeze to do! heheheh

:rotfl: Funny story :rotfl: I'm glad your disaster turned out all right. Now I want chocolate covered pretzels for breakfast. Yummy! :teeth:

I have some extra ones out on the "snack table" here in the office....people keep grabbing one as they walk by

Oh, as soon as you said you put them in a "generic zip-loc" bag, I knew exactly what was going to happen!

That's why I like making the pretzel logs. Then I can just dip them (3/4 of the way)into the pan or melted chocolate!

Hmmmm..maybe I should do that this year....

I tried to make these chocolate bowls I saw on a craft show once. You take a balloon and dip it in the melted chocloate. Great! Except I didn't let the chocolate cool enough. BANG! Chocolate REAALY goes far when thrown off an exploding balloon. :teeth:

:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I could just imagine your face like..."What the...?!?!?!?"

heheheh

chocolate on the counter, wall, ceiling...heheheh

I bet they are DELICIOUS!!! I am a chocolate covered pretzel junkie! White chocolate makes them even better...

They sound delicious, but that is precisly the reason I buy everything. My kitchen would be destroyed if I attempted anything like that. I am very domestically challenged.

ahh...come on! that's half the fun!!

Bark is about the easiest thing to make too...i just never got around to it this year

I second that!

I once tried to make brownies for my 3 bosses. It took me 9 batches to make enough edible ones for three people. One highlight was trying to make marblized brownies and having them come out layered.

Maybe I'll convince my friend to try and make chocolate bowls with balloons, just so I can see what happens in HER kitchen.
