My car is stuck in the ice!

I am trying to get my car out for spring, and it stuck in the ice about 3 inches. I guess with all this crazy weather we had, it would thaw and sink, thaw and sink and now it is STUCK.
How would you get it out? The back tires are spinning like mad, but the front ones arent budging. I tried chipping it out, putting salt on it and dumping hot water on it, just made a puddle.
Any ideas?

got any sand for traction on those tires? how 'bout getting someone with a chain to give you a little tug?

I was thinking kitty litter under the tires, but being a dummy when I poured the hot water on them it made puddles, so that would make mud!
I cant hook a chain to it because of the stupid nose. It has ground effects (?) that go almost to the ground. Guess I will be waiting for the 'big thaw'

My teen's car has been stuck in the ice for over a week now!! It's kind of nice him not driving!!!

Believe it or not, try putting your floor mats under your tires. It's a trick my Dad taught me years ago and it works like a charm. Just don't punch the gas, take it easy and they should catch. Just keep going until you get off the ice and onto dry land don't forget to go back and get your mats.

Thank you MacGyverTDS, what a good idea!
I did try it and hit the gas alittle too hard and they went zipping threw the air! Once I figured out to GENTLY tap the gas, it still wouldnt work because the front tires are so deap in the ice. The ice is up to the bottom of the rim, in the front but not the back, go figure. Really heavy engine I guess. Im afraid to really lay on it because it has been sitting there since September and needs gas, oil change and stuff. Id hate to blow the engine on it pushing it too hard to get it out. Stupid me put off storing it for the winter, not expecting this winter blast we have had.

Kitty 34~I can understand how you feel about the teens being off the road! I am a wreck when mine are out!

Maybe a Tow Truck??

Probably wouldn't cost much even if you don't have the service.

A tow truck just may damage the car as the ice will not want to give. IMHO, I would buy a 50 lb bag of salt and use 20 lbs under each wheel. In front, in back, on the sides, etc.... Give it an hour during the day and the salt should do the trick.
