My buddy

What I saw is that the OP is taking her dogs because she HAS to. She tried to give them away and that didn't work, so they have to come with her. It was not her original plan to take them, and frankly her reasons sounded more like, "I want to make this easier for me."
Hmmm ... that's not the vibe I got at all. Just goes to show that two people can read the same post and get two different stories out of the same words. What I saw is that the OP thought it would be better and less upsetting for the dogs to live with other people in her current area rather than to move to FL with her and be in a small apartment. When it was clear that was not going to work out (because 2 of her dogs missed her so much) she realized that it's better for the dogs to go with her and she is now working to make that happen. Where you see selfishness (give the dogs away it will be easier for me), I see selflessness (give the dogs away so they can be happier). I guess I'm just in a "glass half full" mood tonight.

Her original plan (as that may be) did not include her dogs. Her original plan was to give the dogs away and move across the country without them. Her original explanation sounded, to me, like she was, essentially saying, "I want to pick up and move and I don't want my plans to be hindered or complicated by the dogs."

Again, others may feel differently about their pets, but I would have never made a plan in the 1st place that didn't include my boy.

Really? I have too?

1) I could just turn them loose
2) I could just take them out in the country and leave them
3) I could have them euthanized
4) I could take them to a kill shelter
5) I could keep placing them in homes
6) I could not care at all about what kind of people I give them too and just walk away
7) I could feed them rat poison or hit them on the head with a hammer
8) I could take them to the closest metropolitan area, and give them to some pit owners who would love to use them as bait dogs
9) We have plenty of pig farms around here,, you ever seen what pigs can do to an animal?
10) I could give them to some sick SOB to skin, then maybe poor gasoline on them and set them on fire

Should I continue? I DON'T HAVE TO TAKE THEM! I want to!

Think of ALL THE THINGS I COULD HAVE DONE or could do to my dog's, am I really that monster that you paint me out to be? I mean come on,, your not being at all realistic...

I mean look at these miserable dogs, so horribly mistreated, and neglected, they just look like disposable garbage to me.

And how dare my DD volunteer her time at the local shelter, I'm sure she only did that so she could feel better about the neglect of her 4 legged family at home...

I guess you all also missed the post where I said that I cried the whole day my buddy was gone,, and I was glad that things didn't work out... You have NO IDEA how hard that decision was,, but I and my family, honestly thought it was the best decision for the dogs, NOT THE EASIEST...

But, hey... this was a volunteer move after all... Nobody forced us to move... we just decided to do all this on a whim, without a plan... Just get rid of the dogs, and go,, no jobs, no place to live... Hell it doesn't matter, their just dogs.... we can just get more when we get there...

You people are unbelievable,,, I'm so glad I don't have to stand in front of you on judgement day :littleangel:

Just curious, if you really were not trying to :stir: and all you really wanted was tips on moving with large dogs, why did you even mention all the rehoming stuff?

A simple "I am moving with 2 large dogs and need tips on a long car ride" and "anybody have any leads on some nice pet-friendly housing in Orlando" would have been all that was necessary IF that is really all you wanted.

Your last paragraph in your OP was all that was needed and you would have received many helpful tips.

Oh believe me,, I SOOOOOOOOOO wish that was all I had said... I am NOT a pot stirrer... If you read some of my other posts you would see that, I'm usually very cautious about what I say, for fear of the jury. I honestly thought about what I was posting, and somehow did not imagine it would have this kind of back lash... If I could change the original post I would...

TacoBaco... welcome to the dis where a lot of people have their panties in a bunch most of the time...

Don't let them get to you. Seriously. If you can (I couldn't) walk away from this thread and don't look back. It's got nowhere to go but downhill.

Your dogs are adorable by the way.

Thank you, and I honestly keep trying,, but it soooo hard...
I think I may have said earlier in the day that I was done defending myself,, but then I read some of the comments and I just can't help but get sucked back in...

That's why I said I couldn't - I would do exactly the same thing. :rotfl:

Good luck with the move. We've never moved dogs but have moved some panicky cats. One screamed during an 8 hour drive in DH's car. He said it was like he had a siren going off the whole time. ;)

I agree completely. That's exactly the way I read the OP's post too.

OP, well done on taking the dogs back when it was clear they were lonely and missing you. You tried Plan A and now it's on to Plan B. They're gorgeous dogs who clearly got wind of the fact that you're moving close to Disney World and they want IN! ;)

Best of luck with the move.
