My BLT 2br concerns ...

For our October trip, we were only able to get a 2 bedroom lock-off. I should have realized it earlier, but it didn't "click" that the studio part of the lock-off has 1 bed and 1 pull-out sofa. (We've always stayed in a dedicated 2br.) Ordinarily, that wouldn't be an issue because we'd just stick the kids in the pullout, but we are taking my MIL with us this trip and that means that my husband and I will probably be stuck on the pull-out. (She's 76 and I think the pullout would be tough for her.)

So my question is, how bad are the pullout beds? Are they uncomfortable and small? Are there any other downsides to the 2br lock-off that I should be aware of?

My parents will be in the king-size bedroom, and so I don't have the option of using that room.

Thanks!

Speaking from experience, the bed is acually extremely comfortable!!! It is a memory foam mattress, hubby was sick on vacation and slept on there and he said it was as comfortable as the beds were!

Wow, didn't expect that. I thought the best I would get was "it wasn't too bad."

It is only a double. If she will take it, it will be a bit better for you and your DH.

Are you waitlisted for a dedicated? It's worth a shot.

I thought that there were 'some' studios that have 2 beds?

I may be completely wrong, but it seems like I remember seeing that somewhere.

I know that most studios have 1 king bed, and a sofabed - but for some reason, I thought there were some for the lock off situation.

We were in the studio portion of a lock-off in December 2009 - I pity a family staying at BLT in a 1 BR lock-off - the studios at BLT are extremely small, so it seems like the room overall would be incredibly cramped.

I'm pretty sure the only studios that have 2beds are at OKW

Any studio we have stayed in has had a queen size bed not king and the sleeper sofa

There aren't any studios with a king bed. At VB there are a very few inn room with a king bed but at WDW if you want a king bed, you get one in the master bedroom of a 1 -2 or 3 bedroom villa.

All of the OKW studios have 2 queens.

We stayed in a 1 bedroom lock-off in June at BLT, and it was very spacious. Much bigger than the 1 bedroom lock-off at BWV that we had just checked out of. We had an even numbered villa on the outside of the "C", facing the Contemporary.

The even number BLT villas are a little larger because since they are on the outside of the pie the walls are wider at the windows than at the door to the villa. You could request an even number room if you have a lake or standard view. Theme park (MK) views will be an even numbered villa.

Is there such a thing as a 1 BR lockoff? I really think the only lock off villas are all 2 BR which are a 1 BR and a studio. Maybe all 1 BRs have the ability to be a lockoff from a 2 BR but you can't lock off part of a 1 BR.

We stayed in a BLT studio for the past 2 years on cash ressies. We gave our girls the bed (wanted them to have a good night sleep and not be grouchy the next day) and my DH and I shared the pullout which was extremely comfortable even for the 2 of us. We have a king size bed at home and were not expecting this pullout to be as comfortable as it was. We actually started looking for the make and model to get out for our cottage but apparently it is made solely for Disney.

We are so looking forward to experiencing our first trip home as we have now bought points and no longer have to pay cash reservation prices!!!

Enjoy your trip!!

I found the pullout couch and chair at BLT to be extremely comfortable. We stayed there a whole week and slept on them every night. (I was on the couch, and my daughter was on the chair). I have scoliosis and a bad mattress at Disney World would be awful for me.

We had no problems whatsoever! :yay:

Another confirmation that the pull outs at BLT are fantastic! Better than most of the beds in my house! (and I sleep on a beautyrest black at home!)

Maybe I'm misreading your post, but it seems like you've got a 2 bedroom lockoff at BLT for you, your DH, and MIL? There's 2 full beds plus a sofa bed in the 2 bedroom lockoffs so if there's only the three of you then everyone gets a bed (assuming the DH behaves!)

Here's the floorplans: http://disneyvacationclub.disney.go.com/destinations/resorts/bay-lake-tower/rooms/

** edit ** 2 bedroom lockoffs are typically larger then 2 bedroom standalones because the junior suite of the lockoff usually comes with an additional kitchenette.

The 1 bedroom and studio lockoffs can be reserved separately, in which case it would be a 1 bedroom lockoff and studio lockoff. Some resorts also have dedicated 1 bedrooms and studios.

Congrats! My annual dues for our DVC membership is the only bill all year that makes me (almost) smile.

There are actually 8 of us going. My DH and I, our three kids, my mother and father and my MIL. I know ... sounds like a lot but we actually all get along really well. My parents always come with us to WDW - so the only extra is my MIL, who is pretty low-maintenance.

Thanks for all the replies. I'm actually not as concerned as I was. My DH would totally not behave if his back hurt him from sleeping on a rickety and uncomfortable pullout.
