My Best Friend is turning 40....I need ideas!!

I need some good fun and humorous (and inexpensive - under $30) 40th bday ideas for my best friend's bday!! She has a great sense of humour and has a hubby that does not appreciate her! I want to do something that will give her a great laugh that day and feel appreciated!!! She is a great person!

I just went through this dilemna myself! My best friend turned 40 so I did a take off of the 12 days of Christmas. Each of the 11 days before her birthday she woke up to a humerous poem and a crazy gift on her doorstep (went to the dollar store, did things like spray painted fake roses black, gave her a dried out pine needle wreath, coffee cup with black jelly beans, etc.) and tied in the poem to the gift. On the day of her birthday I gave her a nice gift and took her out to lunch. It was well received and a blast planning.

When my bf turned 40 her two sisters and I flew to Miami to surprise her. It was pretty funny, I was hiding in the dining room and her dog (labbie, we think alike) kept looking at me. He had never seen me before and didn't bark and finally she says "What is the dog looking at" and I popped up and went hi! Then about 2 min. later her sisters came out from their hiding places. We took her to Sanibel for the weekend.

For a gift I got her a picture frame with a picture of us in 8th grade on one side and a more recent pic of us at our last class reunion on the other. It was less than $20 and she really liked it. Of course we treated her to the weekend also.

My sister shoe polished my car for my 30th last spring. She wrote all sorts of things on my windows, and I have a mini van. I live in a small town and there was a little league parade that morning and I live right in front of the ball field so everyone saw it. LOL. I now have 9 years to plan for her 40th.

I like the 12 days idea!

Sent my brother a cd by UB40....get it? The music is fun and he always remembers it as a gift from that day.
