For my 35th birthday I decided to treat myself to my first trip to WDW..
I have a week reserved at the Port Orleans French Quarter.
Where are some good places to eat alone that wont stick me with a table by the bathrooms or kitchen door? :)
Any tips you guys have for a first timer alone would be muchly appreciated.

I'm totally excited about the trip and have been reading and looking for any info that really helps.
My trip is scheduled for Late august

congratulations!!!

I am using Simba's Mom advice 'since I am alone how about a good view so I something to watch?'

can't hurt to ask.

that's great... I'm kinda nervous about goin there alone for the first time... I got the count down goin at work and all the folks purdy much think i'm outta me mind lol

Hey, NYRedNeck, I’m also turning 35 (Yikes!) in late August. Unfortunately, I won’t be celebrating at the World because I can’t take off from work that time of year. So have fun enough for the both of us.

My absolute favorite restaurant at WDW is Boma at AKL. It might be challenging to get to if you don’t have a car, but the food is amazing, and we love the relaxing atmosphere at AKL. I think it would be good for a solo diner, because it seemed to me all the smaller tables were more isolated in the back of the dining room (kitchen is behind the buffet, bathrooms are outside the restaurant), and some have nice views of the landscaping outside. These would be further away from the food, but it’s worth it to me to walk to get my food, and not have people bumping into my chair. I think a buffet would be good for a solo, because you can get up for more food as you want without worrying about disrupting your table mates.

When DH and I were there in November for our anniversary, we had ADR for the first seating, I think at 4:30. We asked for and got a table by the window. Our great server, Shannon, noticed our anniversary buttons. I told her I loved the coconut tiramisu. She said it wasn’t on the buffet that night, but she’d see if they had some in the kitchen. She had the pastry chef whip up a beautiful presentation of it, with “Happy Anniversary” and a hidden Mickey scrolled out in chocolate. It was so beautiful, we took a picture, then practically licked the plate clean. I can’t promise you’ll get this treatment, but if you wear your “Happy Birthday” button, it might help. By the way, if I were you, I’d get a b-day button as soon as you get to your first park and wear it all week. I think 35 deserves a little extra celebration.

Sorry for the long post, I just get too excited thinking about Boma. Hope you have a great trip!

Thanks for the reply and a big thanks for the ideas!!
I'd like to have somewhat of a plan, but not be over planned to the point i can't enjoy myself.Any other ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Have a wonderful birthday trip! I think you'll have a fantastic time solo-ing your way around the World.

I recently visited WDW for the first time, and had such a fabulous time that I'm already trying to figure out if I can make a trip there in September for my 32nd birthday. After all, there's just something so magical about being able to get a happy birthday hug from Mickey :goodvibes

Hi, NewYorkRedNeck. Even before I started asking, as Spiceycat said "for something to look at since I don't have a dining companion", I got nice spots. The only less than great spots were at Trail's End Buffeteria and at Akershaus (before it was a character meal). But even those weren't terrible spots. At Rose and Crown, they put me on the balcony without me saying anything, for lunch. At Coral Reef, I've always gotten a table overlooking the aquarium; at California Grill, I got a window table; and at Chefs de France, I got a window table. However, at all those I asked nicely for a view.

Thank you.. Glad to find a board where the people are so helpful(kinda rare nowadays)
35 and my first real "adult" vacation is goin to the world. Can't believe I'm finally getting to do it.

Boma also have some tables for 2 along the front - so if you are people watcher ask for one of them.;)

I've never been much on message boards... But all you people ROCK
Have gotten lots of great info.. Felt welcome...Thanks guys!!!
