Ok- so he's 5'11", 200 lbs and 21 years old! But I haven't seen him in 2 years!! He's been a missionary in Nagoya Japan. I"M SO EXCITED TO SEE HIM!!!!!! Now for the big question?!?!!? I'm doing Atkins and I need ideas for a welcome home dinner. He hasn't had american cooking in 2 years and I know he's just dying for something great! Any suggestions? I asked him what he wants and he didn't give me anything- so it's a free for all!!! His only request might be no seafood. I'm sure he's had his fill of that for the past 2 years!

Also- any ideas on how to welcome at the airport?

I CAN HARDLY WAIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Congratulations! I really thought that you were bringing home a baby. This is better though.

Less work!

A big juicy steak on the grill paired with a ceaser salad and then baked potatoes just for your son. I was going to say a Lobster tail too until you said no seafood.
:D

Wow- what amazing stories he must have- how neat! If it were me I'd go for country fried chicken, mashed potatoes, green beans and chocolate fudge cake- oh can't forget the homemade rolls! My husband would go for big fat rib-eye marinated in garlic/shallots with blue cheese melting on top - with a loaded baked potato. My son would beg for fried shrimp, broccoli and chocolate ice cream. My first daughter would want homemade maccaroni and cheese and chicken tenders with homemade chocolate chip cookies. My last daughter would want lasagne loaded with provolone, mozzarella, italian sausage, ricotta and homemade apple pie. My dog would like herbed seasoned pork chops and ice cream. There that should give you some ideas! :)

I'd like to sit in the corner and hear his testamonies! Blessings!

Back to dinner... how about a roast turkey, stuffing, green bean casserole, mashed potatoes w/ gravy.. a Thanksgiving Dinner! You all have plenty to be thankful for!

For the airport, a balloon bouquet, perhaps a welcome home sign, a limo ride home w/ sparkling cider in the limo.

Enjoy the moment!

I like Jody's idea for dinner.

Also- any ideas on how to welcome at the airport?

Heavens, if it was me, I would have tears streaming down my face and I would RUN to him as soon as I saw him with the biggest hug in town!!!!!!! (even if he is 21! ;) I'll bet he would love that hug just as much as you!!!)

Enjoy your reunion, and tell us all about it!

greet him with flowers and one of those baloons with "welcome home" written on it. or (and I know this might be hard cause its last minute) call a bunch of his friends and have them all meet you at the airport and hold up a sign saying welcome home!.

I was away for a while from my family and when i finally came home I made a beeline for my mom (my dad and sister were there too, but mom's are more "special" :teeth: ) I wouldn't have cared if tehre was a band playing, I just wanted my mommy.

This is such a happy post! I wish I could help with the details of dinner and the airport, but I honestly can't get the tears out of my eyes, when I think how happy you will be to simlpy hold that child in your arms again! I will be thinking of you tomorrow!:)

Keep the Faith!
Tracy

Just make sure you include enough Atkins friendly foods for you too.

How wonderful that your son was a missionary. You must be very proud.

Our babies will always be our babies even when they are 6'1" and 225 pounds, like mine.
