Hello everyone,
I was married on May 2, and we had an at-home Disney-Themed wedding & reception. These boards were extremely useful in helping me plan out details and answering a few other questions. I asked only some questions, but did a lot of reading here. I thought I would share my photos to help anyone with decor details. If you would like to see the professional photos, go to studio3weddings.com. Click on "my gallery". The user name will be your e-mail (don't worry, they won't spam you) and the password is 050209.
Even though it rained on our day (poured the day before... we had all of May's average rain total on the 1st) it still turned out beautifully! Everything had to be inside, but everyone we talked to said it felt so much more intimate to have everyone gathered together.
Jared and I decided to see each other before the ceremony, and we both were brought to tears when we saw each other for the first time. I recommend seeing your fiance before the wedding because we were both so much more relaxed during the ceremony, and we didn't have to rush through group photos after the ceremony. Our ceremony was pretty simple, and we did include a remembrance candle lighting because we both have grandparents who have passed on that we know were with us in spirit. I cried most of the way down the aisle. I was fine until my dad told me that he loved me right before we turned the corner! There were a few hiccups in the ceremony, but we all laughed right through them. Another recommendation: it isn't going to be perfect, so don't sweat over it. Just have fun!
After the hall was transformed to reception seating, the guests chose tables to sit at. Each table had a different Disney couple as its theme with trivia from the respective movies. The centerpieces (see in the reception details gallery) were very simple. We used jars filled with artificial flowers in a white paper bag. We then tied a lavendar ribbon around each bag. We also use a Mickey punch to make confetti in 2 shades of purple. At our table, we had the arrangements from the arch at the ceremony, our Mickey & Minnie toasting flutes, and silhouette that we had done at Disneyland. My MOH and I also made 2 large and 2 small Mickey pomanders to decorate the hall a little more. The cake was made by Jared's cousin and modeled after a picture of a Disney cake I had. We also had a kid's activity table with Disney coloring pages to keep them busy!
For the entrance of the bridal party, we played part of Steamboat Willie, and Jared and I came into a musical version of the Mickey Mouse Club March. The reception was wonderful and everyone seemed to have a great time. I only wish it all didn't go by so quickly!
So, if you have any questions, feel free to ask. I may not have had a Disneyland or Disney World wedding, but these boards greatly helped me in planning since I did most of the planning on my own (with tons of help from my family of course!). It will be a day I will never forget and the photos are going to be difficult to choose since there are so many good ones!
