I live in Western Massachusetts where tornados have ripped through nearby towns earlier today. My town wasn't involved but areas hit were within a few miles. Driving home, I saw some of the destruction, emergency vehicles, and people walking and driving around just looking so dazed. Four people are confirmed dead and there is a declared state of emergency. My son's friend was working in a grocery store when it started collapsing. Thank God everyone got out ok. Please remember those poor people affected by this disaster in your prayers.

Will keep them all in my prayers.:grouphug: This has been such a rough spring. Glad to hear your loved ones are safe.

We have been following right along with you. We are 10 minutes south of Webster Mass, here in CT. What a scary thing.

We will be thinking of all those affected by the recent Tornadoes.

Prayers for all involved.:grouphug:

Yes, it's sure been a crazy year. Nor Cal has even had a few very small tornados which the media is making it into big news around here since we don't usually have anything more than dust devils. Nothing like what the rest of you are going through.

Thank you all for your prayers. I just saw a video on our local station. There are neighborhoods which are completely demolished. I just can't believe how horrible it was.

Prayers sent to all involved.

Thank you for all the prayers sent to Alabama this Spring! We appreciate it.

I am also here in Massachusetts.........it has been a crazy day!!!!!

We are just a few miles south of you in CT. Watched the weather radar all day, very scary! You guys are in our prayers.

Glad that you are ok. We had tornado warnings here in NYC until 8pm last night but nothing happened. Prayers go out to those who are going through so much in MA.:grouphug:

As a recent tornado victim please tell everyone you know not to start driving through the affected areas like a bunch of tourists. It is rude and it slows down progress. There have been times on the weekends where it has taken me over an hour to drive 5 miles down my road because everyone was taking in the horror show. People would just stop and start taking pictures.

Sorry. I am a little bitter. I found out yesterday that the check we have desperately waiting for from the insurance now has to be turned over to our mortgage company and we have to go through a bunch more red tape to get our money. I have been bleeding money for 5 weeks and now it may be another week before we get a partial amount from our new "construction account." It is so nice our mortage company gets to make interrest off of our hardship.

Oh, and I suggest that anyone with a bunch of trees in your yard make sure your insurance will pay to clean them up and not just if they hit your home. State Farm won't. Do you realize how many trees you have on 5 acres of land?

My entire family lives there. My sister was at work in West Springfield when it came thur. I am waiting for her to send me a clip of the actual tornado that she saw. It was so close, she is so lucky. She has no water at her house today and a lot are without power. Many streets are closed. Seems like everyone in my family lucked out with it being very close but not hitting anyones house or car.

Prayers go out to everyone up there.

OMG! And I remember you had to cut your vacation short (we were at HHI the same time as you) to go home to this. What is it with all the gawkers?

We have family in Central Massachusetts, and thankfully, they were pretty much spared, but apparently there were 50,000 left without power and the National Guard is there. As one who lived through a natural disaster, I remember that you know it's really bad when the National Guard comes driving through your neighborhood. Keep Massachusetts in your thoughts.

That's right. You started a thread about how much you disliked the small studio so I started a spoof thread about how much I hated all the space in the 2 bedroom.

It may be a few years before we go back to HHI. We love it there but it will probably be a constant reminder of what we are going through now for quite some time.

I don't know why people feel the need to gawk at us or take pictures of us. Bring a chainsaw or some water, don't bring a camera.

It is so rare to have such a strong tornado in my area. People heard that there were tornado watches but I think that most people didn't take it seriously. I was about 5 miles away at the time but my family was only a couple of miles away and my husband shouted for the kids to run into our cellar. The kids didn't believe anything would happen because it is such a rarity. My brother's girlfriend's house and car were demolished. I agree that people should stay put and not drive down to satisfy their curiosity. People have lost their lives and people have lost their homes, cars and livelihoods. It will take years to rebuild. I used to watch tornado damaged areas on TV with such horror and disbelief and it felt like a "billion" miles away. Not anymore. Thank you for your prayers.

My brother in working in Springfield today (drives a dumptruck cleaning up) and it just took him 10 min to drive 150 feet. He said it is so annoying cause everyone keeps stopping there cars and just jumping out to take pictures. The cleanup is going to take way longer if people dont get out of the street. I know it is something most people have never seen but I wish they would listen to the Mayor and let the cleanup happen.

And with fuel so high he is probably having to consider tacking on additional trip charges to cover the fuel he is wasting driving behind some moron with a camera. That has happened to us. One of the guys we have hired to do some of the work took 2 1/2 hours to drive what normally takes him 35-40. He drives one of those service trucks and hauls a trailer of course he is going to ask for some of that money back.
