My Apologies for another "View" thread, but here's what Barbara Walters said today

WALTERS: "And then there were three. This is, truthfully, a very difficult day for us, and it is a sad day for us. If you were watching the program yesterday, you would have heard Star announce that she's leaving THE VIEW and will not be on the program next fall.

"We didn't expect her to make this statement yesterday. She gave us no warning. And we were taken by surprise. But the truth is that Star has known for months that ABC did not want to renew her contract and that she would not be asked back in the fall.

"The network made this decision based on a variety of reasons which I won't go into now. But we were never going to say this. We wanted to protect Star. And so we told her that she could say whatever she wanted about why she was leaving and that we would back her up.

"We worked closely with her representatives and we gave her time to look for another job. We hope she would announce it on the program and leave with dignity.

"But Star made another choice.

"And since her announcement yesterday, she has made further announcements that have surprised us.

"So it is becoming uncomfortable for us to pretend that everything is the same at this table.

"And, therefore, regrettably Star will no longer be on this program, except for some shows that have been prerecorded.

"THE VIEW helped make Star a Star and Star helped make THE VIEW the success that it is.

"We will never forget that. We wish her well in this new chapter of her life as we begin a new chapter on THE VIEW."

Thanks for the transcript. I missed the first couple of minutes of the show. So I missed most of what Barbara Walters said. I read on AOL this morning, before the View was on this AM, here in Chicago. The AOL article stated that Star Jones was asked not to come back today or ever on the View.
I didn't watch the show that much to begin with. I like Elizabeth, tho. Glad she isn't leaving.
My thoughts are that personalities do clash, anywhere, ie. on TV, church, social groups, etc. It really didn't surprise me Star was leaving. It happens that people leave for personality conflicts, not just talking about the tv show, but in general. People leave churches, social groups, tv shows, mostly because of a personality clash.

I'm sure things will work out fine for Star Jones, as of her tv career or whatever she pursues next.

She gave an interview with People magazine and said that she was fired.

I for one am happy that Barbara Walters said what she did today. Star always comes across as "me, me, me" all the time and now it has blown up in her face.

Star could use this time off anyway, to work on her "marriage" and all that pilates she suddenly does. I wonder if she will beg a bunch of divorce attorneys out there for free services like she did for that overdone wedding of hers.

No one likes her so who is going to bother to hire her? Maybe she can get to be the baliff on the People's Court. LOL! No wait maybe they will make a show, "Star's Court" and she can sit in he judges seat and pontificate and judge everyone wrong that does not worship her.

Star Jones is a TV personality. So is Barbara Walters. Barbara Walters is getting old and weird; have you seen her dance lessons-eewwwww! If Barbara really "love(s) Star Jones" she would have wanted her to have an honest and honorable departure. I see NO reason that ABC would prefer Rosie over Star; they are from the same mold, physically and mentally)liberal and outspoken. If I were Joy Bayhahr, I'd be looking for work. The show is on it's last legs. ABC doesn't like that Star outed them for "firing" her and if they don't think declining contract renewal is akin to firing, they are smoking some bad stuff. Why should she(Star) allow them to seem the good guys when the rumors are out there and she deserves her say? I'm a fan. I think she's bizarre but who on TV is NOT bizarre at times? That's why they are ON tv and I am sitting in my chair watching THEM. Makes good tv. Elizabeth (from Survivor) is pretty stupid and a rule follower. She can have that show, I'm done with it. I have tivo!!! lol!

Honestly, I've watched the show a handful of times but if this quote:
"Jones and O'Donnell have been feuding for months, ever since O'Donnell blasted Jones for not admitting how she lost 150 pounds so quickly."
is true, I'd be mad too. It's not anyone's place to bring up a subject like that and force someone to say how or why they lost weight.

Personally, I don't think the actions Star has taken will contribute to her future in television.
