My 7 Month Vacation as a WDW Intern: MINI UPDATE 12/10

Me too!!! I was so excited to see you about two weeks ago at AK ! We were at rope drop, and then as we were going in, I saw you there holding your 'bug box', lol!!! I got so excited that I recognized you that we can darting over with my teen daughter, which thought I was totally nuts!!!, btw....teens!!! I took a pic of us, and will try to post so you can try to remember me. That was a real rainy day in AK, our only real rainy day in the 10 day stay, fortunately. We had just just went to grab a bite by Yak and Yeti CS and it started pouring by mid-day thru the evening on/off, if you remember....think it was Sept 1. Have you tried Yak and Yeti and just wondering what you think of the new restaurant. We didnt have enough TS credits to eat there this time, but we had the CS at AK and thought the
'chinese food' was, eh! The honey chicken as dd mentions was chicken nuggets covered in sweet and sour sauce. We were real hungry, so we ate it all :lmao: Anyway, keep up the good work!! So glad the meet with mom went so well, hard for you when she leaves, though! Just look forward till next time. BTW, when does your program end....seems it is forever, no? Regards!!!:goodvibes
I was so excited to meet you too!!! I remember how yucky that day was :( That was inbetween hurricanes if I recall??

Anyways, to answer your Y&Y question. I have eaten at the CS many times and the TS once. The TS is the same food as the CS and you get less IMO. I enjoy the food but have quickly relazed to not waste my money at their TS since they are the same. I did have their lettuce wraps and they were AMAZING. I compare it to a PF Changs but on a lesser level. My program ends Jan2. After that I'm prolly going to end up being a sub teacher and I'm looking into being a seasonal CM at WDW or working with some summer camps as seasonal

thanks for reading!

I have actually never been to the KK off 192. We do not have dunkin donuts at home so I tend to go there. I sometimes shop at the walmart off 535 but there is one near kissimmee off 192 so i tend to use that one when I can or the super target.

sorry i didnt get a chance to see you! I hope you had fun though!

Last week-end I was in Lake Buena Vista staying at our timeshare at Grand Beach on 535. The white ones with the red roofs. As I went to Walmart shopping I realized that might be the one by your house, is it? If it is, it must not be too fun to shop there because it is not unusual to find employees who don't speak English. I am sorry but that is to weird for me to be in the US and have that problem.

Anyway, I looked for you on the off chance I might run into you. You are quite a celebrity you know!

Do you ever go to that Krispy Kreme on 192? That is a must for us each trip, I have to have the hot ones! Now my grandaughters are big enough to take with us so that was fun!

Our annual passes to Disney expired so now we have to find other stuff to do over there. This trip our big deal was finally having time to go to IKEA. That was an adventure because I had never been there before. It is amazing how you can spend a hundred dollars on stuff you had no intention of buying!

Just have to add again that I think it is so neat that you have a chance to do all the things you are doing. You will have these memories all your life and will never be sorry you did it. Every one should have a chance to do something like this before they settle down to real life.

Can't wait to hear more about your visit with mom. Love seeing your pictures, too, since we have stayed at the POP many times.

(Your friend from the POLY food court with the DH who had no idea who he was waving at! LOL....)

Your first day sounds so nice with your Mom! Can't wait to hear more!

Hoping to see you in 2 weeks when we are at the world :goodvibes

Another update. I am so excited. We have never stayed at Pop Century but my mother and sister have. It is nice to get to see some pictures of the resort. ( My sister doesn't take that many pictures. :confused3 ) I can't wait to read the rest of your report. :goodvibes

where is the supertarget, I would much rather go there? Do you mean the one by the Millenia mall or is there another one.

There is a super target off of 192. When you are at the intersection of 535 and 192 you turn left and it is the next plaza/light on the left. There is also a sams club the next plaza down if you like to buy water or other things in bulk. If you continue down the road a few more miles you will see the other super walmart (near Give Kids the World Village) and that is the one that I usually shop at. It is not any cheaper or lighter crowds than the other one because there are alot of vacation homes, condos, townhouses, etc in the area.

Hope that helps!

haha my roomies are still talking about that and how famous I am even outside of the parks lol!!

HI DIS!!!

I'm back again for another update!!

okay when I left you I finished day 1 of my mom's visit...now for day 2!!

FRIDAY SEPT 5
DAY 2

We were going to sleep in but well that never happens in WDW, even if you do live there!!

We were up before 9am and I wanted to get showered, put my hair in a BBB fairytale and ready to go. Before 10am we were out the door to head to Poly for breakfast at Ohana. Now my last 2 visits at Ohana were not so magical. If you followed along with my CP TR you read how horrible of service we had there for dinner with my parents and then again with my roomies. My one roomie katie went there a few months ago and again had horrible service at dinner.

So before 10am we headed to Poly. I seriously debated about not driving for the weekend and just taking the buses and then noticed the bus lines throughout the day before and after and thought nevermind, patience and the bus lines do not mix with me so I ended up driving where we went.

It has been a month or so since I had been to the parks and by that I mean full swing as in going several times in one week. Anyways here is what I saw for the first time driving into MK:

100_2081.jpg

We pulled into Poly by 10am and parked the car and headed into Poly!! I had told my mom the night before that since we have free time during her trip that we should take the DVC tour at Saratoga. She agreed so we headed over to the DVC booth and signed up for a tour on Sun. We looked at both gift shops at Poly (of course duh!) and then headed up to Ohana around 10:45.

We checked in and were given a ticket to get our pic taken from photopass. I'm still curious as to why they don't just put those on FP??!! Oh well. The picture was really cute which I'll post soon. Mom ended up buying the package for $30 which included the special big picture in the envelope/frame and then 4 4x6. I took one and I'm not sure what they did with the rest?

We were seated by 11am. When I had been to Ohana with my parents in April, we were seated at the tables behind the waffle station (but for dinner) and this time we were in the main dining area as I would call it. We weren't on the main front glass but we were on the side on the glass. Of course I took pics of the food so here they are:

Okay now for a mini rant on the food review:

Bread: AMAZING!!! I could have eaten that and only that all day lol.

Fruit: WAYYY AMAZING!!! Once again I could eat that fruit all day! It was very fresh and so juicy.

Waffles: Wayyy good as well! I was a bit upset that unlike WCC they are brought to your table in a bowl and not included with the other food offerings. It also took longer for us to get waffles. I only had 2 but felt like I could have more but did not want to wait for them :(

Food Platter: Eggs..too runny IMO and I'm assuming that is based on how you are raised on eggs. My mom raised me on well done eggs..same with the bacon which was semi crispy and semi not. I didn't eat sausage and the potatoes were very good as well!

Overall: I would dine there again. The characters were great and the food overall was great. Unlike WCC you get the welcoming bread and fruit which were great additions to the breakfast. The juice was also amazing. My only complaint was that for someone who does not drink coffee, a larger glass would have been nice but our server was very good at refilling drinks.

Okay now on to service. As I said earlier, the service my past 2 times had been not so magical. I really have no complaints with our male server except for some reason (not sure why?) but when it comes to paying the bill there it seems to take FOREVER to get it and get it back to sign. It took him about 15/20 mins and we had already been visited by all the characters...all of them twice.

Characters...

I had read bad reviews that it took the characters a long time to get to the tables. We waited about 15 mins or so before our characters arrived...

Me waiting for characters to come...

Overall experience: I would go there again in a second. It seems like at WCC the food is very similar (minus the fruit and bread) but it is very touch and go at breakfast at WCC when it comes to the "fun factor" where as with Ohana, the characters make up for that. Mom thinks sometime we should try 1900 Park Fare which I agree....

Up Next...

Mom sees my very own Kissimmee Castle and we head to a HALLOWEEN PARTY!!!

HI DIS!!!

I thought I would have time to post the rest of day 2 but I slept in a little later than I wanted to so now I must go get ready and then head to Poly with my roomies to have breakfast at Kona and then go watch Jenny and Meghan go parasailing at CR. We're going to head to MK and DHS after that (a usual monday trend as it starting to form lol)

I hope everyone has a great Monday!!!!!

Hey Dis!!!!

Let me just tell you that although I have harsh times at work, they for sure make up for it on my weekends. Before I get to that though, I'll finish day 2 of mom's visit.

Where I left off...

Alright so after a great breakfast at Ohana, we headed into the car (still sorta raining) and headed towards my palace in Kissimmee. Mom and dad both saw the complex in April when they were here. If you read my CP TR you read how horrible the end of their trip was with 2 of my roomies bailing on me and found their own housing and me left with one and having to find 2. That all basically unfolded the last day of their trip and I was a HUGE mess when they left the next day. Sometimes roomies don't think that that will ruin a vacation..ne ways, I guess it all worked out kinda.

So mom and I head down 192 towards my palace. As I pulled in Katie and Elyse were leaving for work and the gym so mom stopped to talk to them and we handed out some homemade cookies that mom brought from home. I then showed her a tour of the house since she had seen a model home. We werent there very long but she felt at ease knowing I was not living in the slums lol. We stopped at Sams Club to get gas in my car and headed back to 'the world'. By that point it was around 1ish and we decided to have a dip in the pool...not getting my fairytale wet of course!

Around 3ish we headed to MK and rode around to the monorail resorts (mom loves the CR gift shop). At 3:45 we got to MK and lined up at the gate to wait for 4. BTW, THANKS to all who told me the 4:00 rule..it was WONDERFUL!!!

And then we took a walk down Main Street and looked at all the store windows....

For some reason the window pics did not load on photobucket..oh well..

And then we saw this...

outside MK...

Now that we had entered MK, I headed straight to BBB to see a fairy godmother in training!!!! Of course since I worked at BBB on my CP, I was loaded with pixie dust!!

After that we decided it was time to ride! Without tons of details we basically rode EVERYTHING in Fantasyland and Space Mt before the party began. After the party began we then rode Haunted Mansion and had dinner at Pecos Bills. Columbia Harbor House was closed...:( We then headed to Tmwland and wrote space again, and TTC ....all the rides..NO WAITS!! while walking back to FL, we rode Peter Pan again w/o a wait and then headed to the front to see fireworks :) ......

Great photos Megan! I really want to get a visit there at Hallowe'en.

Hope you are well and it's great to see you are still enjoying yourself.

All the best,
Jonny & Tracey
