My $213 Zhu Zhu pet

my kid has never broken (or lost) anything... IT IS MY HUSBAND!

iPod #1- left on a plane in the seat pocket, gone for good
iPod #2- he went on a trip to Europe and came home was no longer working
iPod #3- went to Europe again and iPod stopped working <again>. Turns out the converter/charger he was using was wrong and was melting the battery
new cell phone- left in rental car, called Hertz immediately in the terminal. It was already stolen by an employee
left passport in a hotel safe
lost 2 pairs of Rx sunglasses on business trips
left expensive travel pillow on plane
left CD's in a rental car
left something on my dresser that runined the finish- luckily was able to get repaired
contantly new stains appearing on carpet, but of course he didn't do it. I really need to catch that elf that keeps getting stains on my carpet. :rolleyes1

This is just a few things off the top of my head, I could go on for ever...

:scared1: My DH is leading a double life!! :lmao: In our case though, it's the DS game systems that get left on planes, etc. There was also the Zune he "thought" he might have left behind at a vacation condo. He was unbelievably carefree and casual about this. :confused3 Lucky for him, it was found tucked into a remote pocket of his laptop bag.

Oh, and he's only lost one pair of Rx sunglasses, so I guess we're lucky.

LOL.. These will make good stories for years to come.:rotfl:

We built a house 3 years ago. We weren't in it for more than 2 months when the downstairs toilet stopped working. My FIL told me to call the builder and get him to send his plumber over. He told me to be "firm" so they didn't try to take advantage of me.
So I was firm that we did nothing to cause the problem.
Until he removed the toilet from the wall and fished out a half eaten Granny Smith apple.. and my 3 year old took one look and ran upstairs:rotfl2:

Yeah.. I was a little emabarassed:rolleyes1

:rotfl:guess he knew he was busted:confused3,

:hug::hug::hug::hug::hug::hug:

We all have moments/times that like.

My daughter thought it was cool to pop the keys off my Apple laptop and broke 5 of them. I have no caps lock, shift key on the left, the function key and 2 other keys I have no idea what they even are. :confused3

Cost of a new Mac keyboard: $80. So, here I sit typing on it without those keys. :rotfl:

OMG, I thought this only happened to US!! This has happened about 5 times on my son's MacBook Pro! I had to pay $150 twice, and the other 3 times it was free of charge. I always donate the extra keys to Apple in case they have another unfortunate customer in the same bind.

Oh my gosh did I picture my child when I read that one- I was laughing so hard! When DD, now 4, realizes we have discovered something she has done that she knows she will be in trouble for, she gets this panicked look and takes off running as fast as her little legs will carry her. I've caught that look and run out of the corner of my eye more than once!!:lmao: She doesn't do it as much now, but at 2 and 3 it happened quite a bit!

To the OP, sorry about the toilet! Your son's behavior sounds like the typical 3 year old to me. My DD occasionally chunked something at DH or I out of anger too. Then, once she realized what she had just done, we would get that same panicked look from above, then shewould yell "I'm sorry" and take off running.

OP, on the bright side maybe he's got a great arm and one day will repay you with the money he makes at pro baseball with the great arm he has chucking things through windows.:rotfl2:

OMG ... My DS, 3 next week, is a handful and going through a very defiant stage but THANK GOODNESS he never went through the flushing the toliet phase. I am sure this new LO will give me a run for my money though.

2 weeks after our new $2500 TV arrives DS4 scratches the crap out of it with a Rockband drum stick. That will learn DH to buy expensive stuff while the kids are still young!

This is why I'm holding back the urge to replace furniture. DD will just crap it up in a couple of days. Same thing with a new car, if there is gum in any parking lot, any where, it WILL end up on the bottom of DDs foot then all over her carseat and the back of the front seat.

She hasn't broken anything in a long time but my cat did manage to knock my diet coke into my cable modem. That was $70.

Ahhh so many more of those days to come:)

OMG, this reminds me of the leather recliner we got DH a couple of years ago for Father's day that my DS6 put 6 nice long scracthes in each armrest the day after we got it. Ha. All this broken stuff...I think God is just trying to put me in my place. ;)

AHA!! Mine too! I was going to mention this in my last post and got sidetracked...My husband has the opposite of the Midas touch.

DH's list:
  • Broke the dishwasher the first week we moved into our house
  • Put holes in the window screens with his weed whacking
  • Fell through the ceiling of our house while up in the attic--twice!
  • Cracked a cupboard door in half!
  • Dented my new dryer
  • Punctured a hole in the van's bumper backing out into our fence...
Most of these were "accidents" from him being careless; some he was trying to help. Sigh, please honey, don't "help" me any more. :scared: I'll take care of it.

My sister, many years ago, emptied a bag of gravy train dog food (scoop by scoop) into the running washing machine.

Not a pretty sight. Ruined clothing and ruined washer! :tigger:

Mine weren't too bad about flushing stuff except two of the boys tried to flush an entire roll of tp, but they never tried it again after I made them clean it out of the toilet.

Breaking things on the other hand...
I think I have 3 picture frames in my entire house that actually have glass in them because all of the others have been broken by flying objects.

My favorite incident now was when my 12yo was 3 and intentionally threw a rock through a window. When I asked him why he said "I wanted to see what would happen."

OP, so sorry! That stinks!

Along with everyone else, my kids break lots of stuff. My son broke a window twice, once on Thanksgiving, (Happy Thanksgiving). Of course I can't have anything around this house without them "destroying" it. My DS12 seems to be very flippant about caring for stuff lately, and pretty much slammed the top on my brand new grill down. He slams the toilet lid down, and all three pounce on the chairs and the sofas...Drives me nuts :furious:, but at the end of the day it's just stuff and I'd rather have my kids than stuff. No wait...let me think about that one... ;)

Ang

If I had a 12-year old with so little respect for my things I'd be selling their stuff to pay for any damages. See how flippant they stay when it costs them personally.

Yes, well, he really ticked me off when he flippantly slammed my grill shut, and guess what? He just started his new job and I did tell him that if he continues to be so careless with mine and his father's belongings (which is the entire contents of our house), he IS going to be paying for them with his nice little paychecks. I am right there with you.

OP sorry for your hard time. It sounds like you are in good company though.
My DD's have done must of their incidents involving my vehicles. They were playing in the drive behind the van when one of them got angry. Now we live on 2 acres of property so it is not necessary to play in the driveway. While she picked up a rock to throw at her sister and instead hit the back glass of the van. Glass went everywhere, the kids were screaming and I was terrified someone got hurt. Lucky no one did.
The next event also involved the van. One of them decided that they would take a rock and draw a picture on the side of the van. This picture ran from the front wheel all the way to the back of the van. It was amazing. And DH was outside with them both times. Go figure.
I am glad we have had no events like this lately. Knock on wood.

Ha HA, my minivan was the total mom-mobile...when I was applying sunscreen one day, DD put big handpring trails down the side of the van. Here is a tip- when sunblock dries on van paint, it takes about 18 months to wash off. Until then, everyone next to you gets a good laugh.
Same DD decided to draw fireworks on the ceiling above her head when we were driving to Idaho.
I left a dollar tree vehicle magnet on...and it melted to the car!!!

DS asked if he could have his toys back after the maintance guy had to take the toilet off... 4 toys rolled out when he tipped it over :P

We are moving to a new house in 2 weeks- thank you for reminding me why we are NOT going to replace our old,.worn furniture with new stuff just yet!

When my brother was about 12 or 14 he got into a weird stage of liking to bang his head against things. Not ina self soothing way, in a meat head way! :rotfl2: One day he decided to try it against the small window next tot he front door- smash! It cracked but didn't break. He is now 42 and that window is still cracked! It makes for a good story though.

Don't worry one day you will laugh! My DS use to grab the phone when it rang and try to flush it down the toliet. We went through about 12 home phones and 5 cell phones in a 6 month period, but I smartened up and started buying the accident insurance at Best Buy. Later when DS was diagnosed with autism, his therapist said the ring was probably irritating him and he was just trying to get rid of the sound....lol. Years later it is funny, but sometimes when the phone rings DH still jumps up looking for his cell phone :laughing::laughing:

I don't miss the flushing things down the toliet stage. We were missing our pepper shaker for awhile, our toliet started to act up. Found it ! and a few other little toys. It was not the first or last time we had to remove the toliet either..haha

A suggestion: call the nearest Mac repair place and see if they can sell you a clone! My older son spilled grape juice on my keyboard when he was small. My repair guy was able to get me a replacement...not Mac but worked with Macs...for under $25!
