I just got back from my long Disney honeymoon adventure that ended with the 6/9 Wonder Cruise. I am way to lazy to write a detailed trip report so I am just going to do a few highlights to let you know what we experienced.

The best part of the trip for us was that we got to spend 2 days at Castaway Cay since we had pretty nasty weather during part of the first day. We actually got off of the tram right when the storm hit and were pelted with sand. We had to stay in a shop for over an hour until the rain stopped falling horizontally :) We had quite a storm ! But after the rain let up - around 11:30 - we just put on our complimentary Disney ponchos and headed over to Cookies BBQ and had lunch. By the time lunch was over the rain had stopped and we decided to head up to Serenity Bay. We were the only people on the trolley and then we were the only people at Serenity Bay. It was very lonely :( Eventually a couple of other people showed up but the mosquitos were feasting off of us so we left and went to the family beach.

We found a spot for our junk and then went off and rented a water trike. We had a fun but exhausting time on the water trike. Then we went and got a tube and a float and they were not even charging for them because of the previous bad weather. The water was SO cold ! But we had fun anyway. We didn't mind being on the family beach at all. It seemed that all of the kids were being supervised and very well behaved. After a couple of hours it started to sprinkle so we decided to head back to the ship.

While we were back cleaning up an announcement by Captain Tom was made and he said that we may go back to Castaway Cay tomorrow morning :) He said that an announcement would be made early tomorrow morning to let us know for sure.

The next morning the announcement was made that we were going to spend the whole day at Castaway Cay again :) We hurried up and got ready to go have some more fun. The family beach was twice as full as it had been the day before. We guess that a lot of people just decided to stay on the ship all day yesterday just because of the bad weather in the morning. My husband tried to talk me into riding the banana boat but I was just too chicken :o . So we got a float and a tube again - this time we had to pay - and went and played at the family beach. We also relaxed on our lounge chairs and had a pina colada and a konk cooler. We also found an adorable hermit crab wondering around near our chairs and so we let him play with us on our chairs for a little bit. Don't worry, we didn't hurt the little guy & we put him back where we found him :)

We left Castaway Cay around 2 because we wanted to go to the 3:15 showing of Disney Dreams. The sun was still shining brightly with no clouds when we left :)

Our servers and housekeeper all said that Disney never spends two days at Castaway Cay and that we were really lucky. Is this really true or were they trying to make us feel special ? Has anyone else spent two days there on their cruise ?

You ARE very lucky, it is RARE that folks get to spend two days on Castaway Cay, but it has happened on a few other cruises with the same weather situation.

Glad you enjoyed it! :D

Yes, very rare and lucky!! As Michelle pointed out, this only happens in very rare circumstances like the weather. I hope you enjoyed your two days that that magical island, even with the bad weather on the first! You definitely had a unique experience.

We went to Castaway on the rainiest of rainy days. I made the family get off the ship just so we could say we were there, but we just didn't have much fun...dd9 got her hair braided and ds and dd2 played in the rain a bit...then we headed back to the ship. It was absolutely pouring and the tram took literally about 20 mins to pick us all up. (we would have walked had we known) We were all cold and absolutely soaked to the bone. (it gave us a good excuse to use the tubs!)
There was no chance of going back for another day...it was our last day.:(
LUCKY YOU!;)

On our cruise last Nov, we didn't even get to dock at CC, so we missed it altogether.

You two are perhaps the luckiest people on Earth! I would just die to do what you did. Castaway is our FAVORITE place in the whole world. Lucky you and congratulations!

A story like that really makes you feel good inside! Thanks for sharing. I'm so glad you guys got to make up the day after such lousy weather.

Just curious, but isn't the Castaway Cay day the last day of the cruise? Did your cruise last a day longer than usual?

Ashley24 -

I was on a 4 day cruise that had a day at sea scheduled for the last day. So we traded our day at sea for another day at Castaway Cay. With the 3 day cruise you only get one shot at Castaway Cay.

After reading all of these posts I guess we really were lucky afterall. Disney really made our honeymoon magical :)

Wow! You ARE lucky! Is that true for all 4 day cruises that have a sea day? The sea day is the last day?

Ashley24-

The 4 day cruises alternate each week. One week the 4th day is a day at sea and the next week the 4th day is Castaway Cay because the ship stops in Freeport on the 3rd day. So I guess that the day at sea week would be the only one with the chance of an extra day at Castaway Cay. I had never even thought about the that until you mentioned it :)

Hi, its PiperG again. . . .

How did you like the Poly??? We were right across from the pool residing near the ceremonial house (not the volcano pool). We really loved that location as we sat on the verandah (3rd floor) and listened to the lovely polynesian music while sipping wine.

We are planning a land and sea in Feb or May '04 and hope to get the same room.

Hi PiperG :D

We liked the Poly just fine but we moved there from the Yacht Club Concierge so we were a little spoiled ;) and liked the Yacht Club a bit more. Now if we had been in the Polynesian concierge we may have had a different opinion :)

We were in room 1830. That was the third room we had been placed in :) We first had a room like you described - on the 3rd floor with a view of the quiet pool - but we asked for another one since it was a connecting room. We didn't even go look at the room we just did our "negotiations" at the front desk. Then they gave us room 3830 but we couldn't get into it until 3:30 because they had painted it that morning. We later decided that we didn't want a room that had just been painted so we got our third and final room - 1830. It was on the first floor of Raratonga and we had a lovely view of the monorail and were about 15 seconds away from the Great Ceremonial House. I would ask for that room again in a heartbeat although your room sounds pretty nice too since you could hear the music :)

...and I was wondering which room number should I request if we want to hear that wonderful music. There's actually 8 of us going, so two rooms would be nice. I'm still new to this room negotiation thing, so help would be appreciated.

Didn't you just love it!!!!???! You were one of the lucky ones! You were stuck in a shop during the storm. We were stuck in the men's room! There was no more room in the ladies room. It was OK for a while because it was just me and my DH, but after a while a man came in and actually peed in the urinal! He didn't care that I was there -- he had to really go!

Nassau was OK. It would have been a total bust if not for the Blue Lagoon Dolphin Encounter. It was really great! I really love those dolphins. The shopping in town and at the Straw Market was no big deal. I can get that stuff here in Florida at the Flea Markets!! The Wonder actually had better prices and definitely better quality goodies.

I haven't been on the boards for quite some time. I never did get to meet you on the cruise. From the sounds of your message, you two really had a great time. I'm glad. We had a great time too and are planning on going back -- maybe the 7 day next time. Our friends and their two DS's are on the Magic right now.

Take care.

Oh my goodness

I actually started towards the ladies room because it was the first thing I saw but my husband grabbed me and told me to head to the store. I am glad I followed his advice :) That must have been awful ! At least we had stuff to look at - well come to think of it I guess you did too ;)

We ventured over to Nassau after my pedicure - and of course my feet got all yucky with the rain and all. We just shopped a bit and bought a couple of tacky souvineers and then took an interesting horse and buggy ride through the town. It was fun but we were only there around 2 hours but that was plenty of time :)

I am glad you liked your cruise. We liked it too but don't think we will go on another one very soon. We just like WDW too much :) But if we do go on another Disney cruise someday we will definately be doing a 7 day - 4 days just wasn't long enough :D
