My 1st PTR/TR: An unexpected trip, Disney in December 4 *Day 3 6/5 Illuminations!*

I've been looking for Christmas TRs. I'm going Nov 28 -Dec 3. I have wanted to see the world decked out for Christmas for a long time. I'm just starting a TR of sorts I guess, looking for tips and ideas for things not to miss during the holiday season.

I love all your Christmas pics, it's really getting me excited. :santa:

I'm here and I am all caught up. I can't wait to hear all about your trip, you have to take lots of pictures of all the holiday decorations and lights of course. :goodvibes

Oh the pics will definitely be plentiful. I looked through your lights report the other day at work (shhh! :lmao:) and I do believe I will have to take some pics of those now!
I love trip-flashbacks.

Thanks! I'm enjoying your pics as well! :goodvibes

Thank you! Our 2005 and 2006 trips I think I was too excited to be down there to really capture a lot of the decorations, my 2007 TR however, it FULL of Xmas pics. Oh my gosh, you'll LOVE it down there.
The wreaths, themed trees at each restaurant, each resort and each park, the lights...oh, I'm getting excited, lol. I'll definitely stop have to stop by your PTR then! Speaking of which..off I go! ;)

Very fun pictures! Some day we would like to go down during Christmas, all of the pictures I have seen make it look so amazing.

I am subbing in! We are going for our first December trip from the 6-16th this year. I cant wait!! I am loving your past trip reports

Oh it is! And thank you, although I think the 2007 pics are the best since I paid more attention to the decorations!Oh you will love it when you get a chance to go..it is overwhelming and on top of that, you start to associate Disney with Christmas time!

Thanks for subbing! Oh my gosh, I'm so excited you get to experience Disney at Christmas! I'll have to make a stop over to your PTR. We'll be there only 1 day while you're there! But thank you, posting past pics certainly gets me more in the Disney mood! :thumbsup2

Thank you to all those who have joined in! It's so exciting reading about PTR going on at the same time! I have time to do a short trip update (I finished my powerpoint early for my kids at 2), so here we go!

Day 2..we were off to MGM. In 2005, we didn't do MGM, so we all wanted to get there "early" to make up for it. I think Chick-Fil-A was right next to us so we got that for breakfast this morning.

Our view from the Lake of our Timeshare.

On the Tram to MGM! Sorry for the humidity look :rotfl:

And on our way into the park..

n42707539_30717456_6907.jpg

And then we hit a photo-op, although, I don't think Pooh realized how high his arm was, I got a little blocked in the pic and had to stand on my tippy toes :rotfl:

Now, I've come to realize that when we first enter MK, we always go to Tomorrowland first..and when we're at MGM, we always seem to head to The Great Movie Ride first, followed by The Little Mermaid. Do you think you're body has a mind of it's own when you enter the parks? :rotfl2:

I think we're all staring in awe of the Big neon pink sign of TGMR

My favorite movie.

And then it was off to try on some hats..not sure why Dbf has such a mean look to him in this one.

Now, this is where the TR gets fuzzy, I can't remember if we did The Lights Motor Show first, or if we ate and then played on the Honey I Shrunk the Kids set...I'm going with my gut and saying, the Stunt show was first.

In 2007 we didn't end up seeing it, due to rain and safety reasons, so we definitely want to hit it this year. It really is cool how close the cars get to each other without hitting.

Next we ate at the Studio Catering Company. I got the Greek Salad which was huge and amazing and Dbf got the chicken with rice and black beans, he ate it all and then Kiki, Stu and ABZ all got the BBQ Pork Sandwich which they said was good too. We all wanted to play on the HISTK set, I mean come on...we're in Disney..I know we're all in our 20's, but who cares!

Ok..I gotta get ready to teach my class now.
Next up..Backlot Tour, and the Festival of Lights!

Ok..so I caved in, I'm doing another update today. I think what it is, is that I really want to get to our 2007 TR before I leave so if I can crank out 2006 faster...? I don't know, but anyway..

MGM continued..
I love the topiaries here. This one in particular with all the poinsettas.

ABZ SAYS this one was for his little brother (he was getting autographs of some of the characters for him) but I don't know, look at the look of glee on that face while he's posing with the Green Ranger :rotfl2:

Next up was the Backlot Tour. The beginning of the show is getting a little old, but I do like when the people that are picked have a good sense of humor and make the skit funny. Does anyone else remember when BT used to have the neighborhood in it? I miss that.

Lining up.

Pirates, gotta love it.
n42707539_30717540_7722.jpg

And the Osbourne Lights during the daytime.
n42707539_30717542_9844.jpg

Now, I love love love the Osbourne Lights, I remember there being more blue lights in 2007, but I love it. This year they played the Trans Siberian Orchestra's, Christmas in Sarajevo, I caught it all on my digital camera via video, you can't miss these.
I have lots more, but I'll just post the group pic.
n42707539_30717561_4442.jpg

And lastly was Fantasmic. Again, first year seeing this, didn't see this in 2007. I like how they display the images on the water and how you get to see ALL the characters at the end.
Here's one of my fav shots from the display.

Well, that's it for MGM 2006! Next up on my list is...Islands of Adventure, so I'll let you guys make the call if you want pics up from that. It really is a neat park (wasn't the first time for me going there).

But, until next time!

We have always avoided going during Christmas season but I do believe that we may have to think about taking that trip especially when seeing everyones pics during the season....

The Osbourne Lights just look amazing! :cloud9:
Oh my gosh they are! If I could figure out how/where to post a video, I'd put it up here. The lights DANCE to the Trans siberian music and get dimmer and brighter as the pace of the music changes. And plus with the snow machine they have there..oh gosh..:lovestruc

The week that we've gone the past 3 years is the 2nd-3rd week of December and it has always been nice. The crowds are low and the prices are during the "value" rate, if you had a Visa card (which we don't unfortunately) they've also done free dining this go round, plus the weather isn't HOT, it's like 85 tops. And the decorations are truly amazing. You must go some time :wizard:

yes please show the additional islands of adventure pics, i have never been and would like to see pictures.

You are so nice posting all of these pictures! I can't believe the Osbourne lights! And they actually have a snow maching going??? Try to figure out how to post the video. :thumbsup2 Never been to Islands of Adventure.... put those pictures up too if you have time.

Ok, will do, that'll be next on the list, I'll start them tomorrow if I get a chance :goodvibes

Thank you! Yes, they even have a snow machine! I signed up for YouTube today, so I'll try and get the video posted and figure out where to go from there. Should just be a matter of posting the link in here I think. But thanks for the IOA vote, I'll definitely put those up. :thumbsup2

Ok everyone, sorry for the leave of absence, I've got a sinus infection..figured I'd get away this fall without one, but unfortunately no.
I have figured out how to upload the video of the Osbourne Family Lights display at MGM back from 2006, themed to the Trans Siberian Orchestra. I've got it on Youtube, so just click on the link below to view it:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b3W2FN0Jruk

Don't mind Dbf and Kiki, they got into the music and decided to do a little jig and play guitar during the song, respectively. A little embarassing, but what're you gonna do? :lmao:

But, keep in mind, there was "snow" falling down too. They only keep the display on for I think 2 hours each night. Enjoy!!!

ahh man, hope parker gets a good nap that day, he will go nuts over all those lights,

Ok, just checked out the Osbourne lights and they are amazing! I think it would be hard to know where to look next! :)

Oh, Parker will LOVE it. I bet his eyes will light up. Plus they have character lights throughout outlined as Mickey and Santa. :goodvibes

lol, they are just breathtaking. I'm so excited to see them again next year. Hopefully that'll be a another reason for you to try and go during the Christmas season ;)

Hey guys, I'm still not feeling all that great, so I'll try and update tomorrow with the Islands of Adventure pictures.

But on a good note...we got our MAGICAL EXPRESS PASSES today!!:wizard:
Woooohooo! I'm so excited.
I guess it's really sinking in now...we have about 45 days left until we leave. I hope it gets here soon (but not too soon!) ;)

Until tomorrow..

I'm loving your PTR, and I'm so glad to have found it. Your pics are great. I can't wait to read more of your planning. We're going in 1 month and 2 weeks, but who's counting?!
