we just got back from our Disney vacation and if I have one word of advice, it is to.....

Please, put some clothes on!!!

I couldn't believe the number of women I saw out there wearing clothes that not only didn't fit, but hardly covered anything up. If I wanted to go to a strip club, I could've stayed home for that! LOL:p

Don't you just wish Disney would refuse admittance with inappropriate attire? It's a family place people!

I did see them ask a woman to put her top on at The Land once - she had her bathing suit on under her top and had taken it off and tucked it in to her shorts. Her bathing suit was a french bikini, so it was very revealing. Some un-uniformed CMs discreetly talked to her and escorted her to the ladies' room. She came out a few minutes later with her top on. :smooth:

Last June we saw at least one woman with high heels on in the parks!!! At the opposite end of the original post we saw many teenagers with way too much on for the June Florida heat. I am from South Mississippi so our weather is exactly like WDW. I can't tell you how many I saw with jean, long sleeve shirts, vests on. They looked so hot but I guess they thought they looked really cool. LOL

I have 2 dd's ages 7 & 5. I have looked everywhere for shorts that actually fit them. All the one's I find are short shorts, when the girls sit down, you can see there undies, what's up with that? We do not let our girls wear 1/2 shirts or mini-mini skirts, I can't believe the manufacturer's nowadays.

dahess, I couldn't agree with you more! My DDs are 12,10, and 5. My son is 8. Long shorts for a boy are popular. For girls it is impossible to find anything modest. My oldest started jr. high this year and there is a "rule" that when you hang your arms by your side your shorts should be at least fingertip length. Yeah right, go to the store and try to find that!!! A friend says her husband is always complaining about their DDs short shorts (she is in first grade.) I told her to tell him to start sewing, you can't find anything else in the stores. My DDs don't really like capris but we may go try some on this weekend. As far as Disney, they should crack down on this near naked thing. Maybe if enough of us complain they would do something!!! Lacee

The only shorts I could find for my 10 y/o dd that were long enough were by Lee and Levis. Of course they are expensive but if you catch them on sale at Kohl's they are usually under $15. It has become increasingly difficult to find appropriate clothes for my dd's. The most shocking thing I have seen so far was a string bikini for toddlers at Old Navy. Why would any respectable parent dress a little girl in something so revealing:confused: I don't understand what clothing designers are thinking-obviously these people do not have children.

Pictures please ??

We were there 5/7-5/13 and couldn't believe the same thing!!! Those spaghetti strap tank tops with women falling out of them was more than I wanted to see! It was totally inappropriate IMHO! There were also the bikini top with shorts outfits. I agree with you 100% momof2intx !!

This is the second thread that I have read where skimpy clothing is at the world is being discussed, I really do think that Disney should crack down on this, as said before, this is a family orientated theme park not a nightclub, beach or anywhere else and dress should therefore be appropriate and not offensive to the majority (some one will always find fault). So come on Disney and all its visitors bring back a little dignity and start to leave some things to the immagination not on show for everyone to be offended by.

We have had the same problem trying to find appropriate clothes for my DD. A friend told the lady working at one of the department stores that she was tired of seeing street walker clothes in the store for her 9 year old daughter and that until they changed the selection she wouldn't be back. The lady just looked at her and said that they couldn't find anything else at market. Maybe it is time to let the manufacturers know that we won't put up with it any more. I buy my daughter solid colored shorts from Walmart that are long and then she wears them with her Disney t-shirts we bought last year at WDW.

Yep, some of the outfits are pretty unbelievable!.

For moms looking for basic, decent girslwear, try landsend.com a Wisconsin manufacturer.

Sears owns Lands End now and some LE clothes are being phased into their stores.

herc.

I don't have any trouble finding modest clothing for my DD9. We have the same dress code at our schools. I suppose it must be harder for a teen, but I shop at:

Gap
Old Navy
Lands End
LL Bean
Target (Cherokee brand, in particular)
Kohls

Gap & Old Navy have unbelievable sales. We got t-shirts and sport shorts there for $4.99 and $9.99.

Lands End Kids, LL Bean Kids... everything from dresses to shorts, undies, boots and jackets. LandsEnd offers the only socks I could get my son to actually wear! Great quality and wonderful customer service. These folks could work for Mickey! No Britney fashions here. :)

   Got back yesterday and was telling a coworker today about the "sites" we saw specifically the pants that look like harum pants except they are sheer and the wearer has thong underwear on underneath...Why bother putting anything on!!!! Thankfully dd had conked out by then but these ladies were turning lots of heads(male and female) at world showcase last thursday night. These were not teenagers wearing these getups. Most of the teen girls were covered a few falling out of bikini tops but nothing like those pant. What are people thingking????? I know it's either a) look at me or b) they're not thinking at all. Why do clothing makers think we want our daughters to look like prostitutes???? Fortunatly I have a mother who loves to sew and is retired...

:p I couldn't agree more. Did anyone happen to see the woman in MK on Sunday, May 10 (Mother's Day). She was pregnant, about eight months), she had a belly button ring and was wearing a half top which came up above her belly. Something I personally did not want to see let alone my 6 year old daughter. She even made a comment to me.

That is totally inappropriate.

Colleen, I will check out Lands End and LL Bean. Thanx. I have to say that I have always thought the 2 of them were too pricey for us but I am getting desperate here!! I love the t-shirts at Old Navy but the pants and shorts I always find there are the hip hugger type stuff. Last year my girls tried on all kinds of shorts and pants at Target and none of them fit, they are all cut straight and my girls are getting curves. Kohls seems to be hit or miss for us too, they do have good sales at times though. My oldest is close to wearing jr. sizes. I don't know if this is good or if it will be worse. I'm just glad I didn't see the pregnant lady with the belly ring!!! Lacee

I would agree with all that shorts and a bikini top are not acceptable in the parks. (around the pool...ok)

Really short crop tops and any top or bottom that causes "stuff" to "fall out" also fall into that category.

However, do you folks consider the tank and halter style "bra tops" in poor taste, too? Yes, they show some shoulder and back, but they cover everything quite modestly and still provide good relief from the heat. Just curious, as my DW has fallen in love with these tops and feels very comfortable in them (and she's ultra conservative).

We have had the same problems with shorts for our DD- 4.

My complaint is that the shorts popular for boys and men are TOO LONG! My DS and I are not that tall, and I can't stand wearing shorts that hang down anywhere near my knees!
