We'll be in WDW the first week of December, and I'm wondering if it would be worthwhile to take my 7 year old son to MVMCP. He is PDD, autistic (but not tantrum-prone), and will be riding in a big stroller due to his hypotonia and stamina issues. We could not ride any of the major rides like Spalsh Mountain or anything too fast or bumpy. But he does like the slower rides and anything with a lot of visual activity, and he likes watching the people go by.

I'm wondering if there will be many attractions open that he could enjoy, and if the shows and parade are worthwhile. Will the crowds be so thick that we would have a hard time getting around with his big stroller? Is there anything else happening that he might enjoy? Is it worth going just for the ambience? That's a lot of questions, I know - lol!

I'm thinking about the Thursday, Dec. 6 MVMCP. Any advice or suggestions will be greatly appreciated! Thanks! :)

Go. There are lots of shows, lots of singing, the "snow" is fun to see. The crowds can be a pain for sure, but I think it was worthwhile. :) Get your picture early becasue the lines get long at the end of the evening, and grab the hot chocolate when you can.

The Osborne Lights at Disney Studios was also quite fun for my son. Took a while to convince him to wear the prism glasses, but once he did, he really loved them.

Thanks Teri! I really do want to go! However I was worried that with the crowds, my son couldn't see much of the goings-on from down there in his stroller. I think we will try it and hopefully he will have fun too. Does anyone else have any tips for attending MVMCP with a child in a stroller/chair? We've never done it before -- any advice will help! :)

Hiya Belle....

I think ya should go....the shows ARE great!! I saw country bear.....loved it!! don't forget that parade as well as the snow on Main Street...

Arent the Osborn lights on MGM's backlot?

ALSO!!!! you can do Pooh from the chair...and I just love that... but how does your lil one do w strobe lights and that?

To make it easier on you, make a PS for inside the MK for right before the park closes. you can then have a nice dinner, and be IN the park when it reopens. That would prevent the entry madhouse and give you a headstart!

The Osborne Lights are on the Studio backlot and they are great even if you don't wear the glasses. The glasses just give shape (angel, bell, trees in the past) when you look at the lights.
We've never been to mvmcp, but from what I have seen and read, it looks wonderful. That's a good hint about the PS before the park closes.

thank you Pumbaa_ I knew there was something I forgot to add to my post...we ate at Liberly Tree that night and they just told us to stay in the building until the park re -opened

Thanks for the advice guys! That's a great idea about the PS inside the park, we'll definitely try that. As long as there is a lot of activity and music at the party I think Kyle will have a good time. He is OK with strobe lights, in fact they bring on giggle fits. He also really likes the Country Bears so that's a must-see. I went ahead and ordered the tickets today for Thursday Dec 6. :D We'll let everybody know how it goes!

My oldest DD,(then 10) and I went on Dec 1st last year. The event was sold out so I was a little worried, but it was GREAT. When we first went in the gates it was wall to wall people so I thought to myself what have I gotten myself into. For whatever reason people get their parade spots near the front of mainstreet and sit for 2 hours for the first parade. We on the other hand went straight to the rides no lines at all even went right up to the Winnie the Pooh ride where the wheelchair car was waiting for my DD from there we went to the Tea Cups only 2 other families went on the ride with us and then off to Buzz again no line so they let us stay on since there were no other wheelchairs waiting for the car. Then to get our pictures taken since the line was getting a little long after that we went back to the handicap viewing area and watched the parade. Then saw some shows rode more rides watched part of the second parade by splash mountain then rode on Jungle Cruise at mid-night. Everyone should do Jungle Cruise at dark sometime it's a whole different ride. We took a slow walk and roll down mainstreet and left the park for the bus just before the park closed.

This year we are going on Oct 1st but next year I would do it again. We NEVER waited in line at all for any ride.
