We are going to be in the World this December for 4 days. I would really like to be able to go to MVMCP as this will be our first time in the World during the Holidays.

We will be there Dec. 11th-Dec. 15th is the 'party' usually going on then or is it just during actual Christmas week?

And lastly, where to do I find information on 2003 dates? Do I buy them before my trip or when I get down to Disney?

HELP! ;)

We wewnt to MVMCP this passed December Tuesday December 3rd. The dates typically start after the Thanksgiving holiday and are usually two-three times during the week until Christmas (not sure about after Christmas). The dates are not out yet but will probably come out towards the end of the summer early fall. I purchased my tics from the WDW website and received them within a week of ordering them.

It was alot of fum......do not miss it if you can help it. Seeing snow on Main Street is something I will never forget....truly beautiful. It really helped us get in the mood for the holidays being at Disney during this time. Would do it again in a heartbeat!

I believe I read on another thread that dates were announced at the very end of April last year. Also, MVMCP was Sun, Tues, Thurs & Fri(?) from after T-giving until Dec. 20. Once dates are announced you can order your tickets!!

Hope this helps!!!!

I thought I'd add my two cents about the MVMCP. I was a cast member during the holiday season 2002 and had a chance to attend one of the MVMCP nights. It was fantastic! The tickets typically cost around $30 and there will be many selected nights for the party. Last season, I think only about 4 or 5 of the nights sold-out. You can buy your tickets ahead of time, at the resort, or at any guest relations booth. If you buy the tickets the day of the event, they will cost a little bit more. The entire party lasts from 7-12 and the lines are great! On some of the more popular rides such as Space Mountain or Splash Mountain, we only waited about 5-10 minutes!! Here's a list of the events that they had last year:

MVMCP Parade 8:15 and 10:40
Fantasy in the Sky Fireworks 9:15 (Dont' miss these!! They include perimeter fireworks and a "special character" flies down from the castle!!)
Mickey's 'Twas the Night Before Christmas show (5 show times)
Celebrate the Season show (3 show times in front of the castle)
Wild West Christmas Show (4 show times)
Belle's Enchanted Christmas show (5 show times)
Santa's Snowflake Special show (5 show times)
Lake Howell Holiday Brass (3 show times)

They also have free hot chocolate and Christmas cookies at several locations in the park. Yummy! :D And of cousre you can't forget the snow on Main Street. It's beautiful!!

While you're in the parks during the holidays, do not miss the Candlelight Processional at Epcot. I was a performer in the show last season and it is truly one of the best shows at WDW and VERY popular.

If you have any other questions about the holidays, I'd love to help. Good luck and have fun!!

Thanks for the info! You may have just caused another ticket to be sold. I'm going to WDW solo in mid-December, and was planning to skip this. However, sounds like fun! Five hours? What is the Lake Howell Holiday Brass? Anything like Canadian Brass? But I definitely won't miss the Candlelight Processional-actually from what I hear, I think it would be worth more than one trip. Can you give me any idea of what times are more and less crowded for the CP? Should I plan on the dinner package? I'll be there 12/14-12/18, and hoping to see it (as well as now go to MVMCP).

Thanks everyone!!

Alyssa--

You have us sold :)
Just a question though, so I can call CRO & buy my tickets through them as soon as they go on sale? Will the tickets be waiting for us then when we arrive? Where do we pick them up?

Simba's mom--

I have the same questions about the CP as you do.
;)
I am thinking if we want to do the dinner package or would it be OK (and still get decent seats) if we just did the CP?

We are going from 12/11-12/15.

If you are planning on having a nice dinner anyways, I would go with the package. I priced out our dinner at LeCellier last year and it was pretty much equal to the ticket price. However, you also get a 15% shopping discount on most items that day at Epcot. I saved about $20 (mostly at Mousegears). And you get better seats. The standby line can be long on some nights, especially weekends.

I would order tickets to the CP when they announce the dates. There is some thought that you could wait until they firm up the speakers, but then you may miss out on a date that you want as they do sell out. You can pick the tickets up at Epcot, or if you are onsite you can pick them up at your resort the day of the event.

I would reccommend getting the dinner package for the 1) Better seating and 2) 15% discount for ALL of Epcot on that day. We did a ton of our shopping at Mousegears on this day and saved a hefty chunk of money.

jacksonsmom -

If I am at WDW after Thanksgiving weekend, I ALWAYS get tickets for MVMCP - this is definitely a do not miss event!!

The other really neat perk that they offer is a Christmas photo with your family (usually taken in the Pirates of the Caribbean area). This photo is then mailed to your home address a few weeks after you arrive home. Very cool!

pixiedust also mentioned the fabulous fireworks and parade, but I feel the need to emphasize on just how wonderful these two events are. The parade is, IMHO, the best parade that WDW has to offer (just my opinion, of course), and the fireworks--well, let's just say you won't know where to look next! Truly magical!

You guys have me sold! Now I can not wait until December
First I have to get through my June Disney trip though ;)

I am curious, is the MVMCP parade & fireworks different then the regular parade & fireworks shown during regular hours?

I guess I really have to price out the dinner package for the CP. I don't know if it will be worth it to us since I am a vegetarian.
Is there a link to the restraunants there are available for the CP dinner package?

Thanks

The parade is a special Christmas Parade......not sure if it's the same one shown on TV on Christmas day but if it isn't it 's just as nice. They ususally show two a night.....one earlier and one around 11:00. We watched the later parade and it was wonderful. Not as crowded. While the first one was going on we went on the rides and watched a few shows. The crowds were very manageable. Let's just say we walked on Dumbo and were able to stay on for a second ride!!!! The picture is included with your admission tic. They have many stands set up all over.......they mail it to you a few weeks later. A real nice souvenier (?).

They also have the special "surround" fireworks. They are shot off in a circle around the park, from about 6 different directions.

Yes, you can call CRO to buy MVMCP tickets. In the past there has been a small discount for purchasing MVMCP tickets in advance. The tickets will be mailed to you. There will be a $3.00 per order mailing/handling charge.

Enjoy the party!

Thank you CarolMN!

Thank you everyone of your input on MVMCP!
I can't wait to experience it :)

Just another note about the parade and fireworks... The parade is the exact same parade that you see on Christmas day. (it is actually pre-taped around the beginning of December) The only difference will be the lack of celebrities in the parade at MVMCP! Darn! :p It is probably the best (and longest!) parade at Disney World. It has a LOT of floats and characters and should not be missed. They will have two shows and unless you have small children with you, I highly recommend attending the second parade at 10:40. This one is a lot less crowded than the first one. Most families with small children attend the 8:15 parade since the kids may not make it until the 10:40 parade! While the 8:15 parade is going on, that's a great time to ride some rides or see some shows. It's also a great time to get your free photo taken. The lines by "It's a Small World" are usually the shortest for the free picture. But don't forget to make it back over by the castle at 9:15 for the fireworks!!!

Also, the fireworks are perimeter fireworks. The only times that you will ever be able to see perimeter fireworks at the Magic Kingdom are on MVMCP nights, MNSSHP nights, and on New Year's Eve. They are absolutely unbelievable and above all, should NOT be missed!!! You will see the regular firework show of "Fantasy in the Sky" and then a second segment (the perimeter fireworks) will go on for about 10 mintues longer. Also, in between these two shows you will see a special guest (not Tinkerbell) fly down from the castle. I don't want to ruin the surprise for you, but the "special guest" is really cute!!! :D

Another note on the Candlelight Processional... As a performer in the show, I noticed that the 5:00 show was always the least crowded and the 8:15 was usually the most crowded. If you are not planning on doing the dinner package, try to get in the stand-by line at least an hour or hour and a half before the show starts. Almost every show will become full. When my friends came to see me perform, they would almost always get there an hour and half before and would end up with great seats near the front and center. The very front area is reserved for people who purchased the dinner package. If you are planning on eating at Epcot for dinner anyway, it would definitely be worth your money to buy the dinner package. They come in three price tiers depending on which restaurant you choose. I believe the most expensive tier included Canada, France, and Italy. The second tier included Mexico, China, Japan, and Morocco. And the last tier included Norway and Germany. You can purchase these dinner packages over the phone or at your hotel, or at a guest relations booth. Then when you come to Epcot on that day, you can go pick up your badge near the American Adventure pavillion. They will give each member of your party a badge to pin onto you and this will give you access to priority seating at the Candlelight Processional show and a 15% discount for that day at Epcot. If you are wanting to attend one of the shows with a high profile celebrity such as Gary Sinise, book as soon as you can. Those shows tend to sell-out the quickest! Also, the 6:45 and 8:15 shows also tend to sell out quicker than the 5:00.

Any other questions, just ask! Hope you have fun!!

One more quick thing and then I promise I'll be done with my incessant rambling (well... at least for a little while!! :p ) At the MVMCP you will also want to make it a point to visit the characters. In Toon Town you'll be able to see some of the classic favorites like Donald Duck or Goofy. Across from the Winnie the Pooh Ride there is a little cove and a lot of Disney characters will show up there. Mickey and Minnie tend to be in the area to the right of Tony's Restaurant. All of the characters are dressed in holiday attire and would make some really cute photos!! For example, Pluto was dressed as Rudolph! Just another tip for the MVMCP! (As you can tell, I can talk about this forever!! :teeth:

Tell me more about this free photo? I'll be solo, so I trust that CMs will take any pictures for me when I see the characters (they're always so nice about that). But assuming I wait in line for that free photo you talked about by "IASW", how long might I have to wait?
Only one little problem with the cookies (I'm a real expert on good junk food). I hope they're not the same cookies as were given at the AP preview of the Osborne Lights. Those cookies didn't seem too great to me-rather dry. But for the price, I'm not complaining-the AP preview was a wonderful event!

The free photo has a cute Christmas background and you provide your home address before taking the photo. You usually receive the photo about a week later. It's really cute and has a cute border with all of the Disney characters and it says MVMCP with the year on it. It's a 4x6. This is also when they will give you a free pin (one of those round buttons) that will say MVMCP on it that you can wear around for fun.

The line goes by really quick. They have a photographer who takes one shot with a digital camera and then the guests are ushered out of the area. If you go late at night it will probably be pretty crowded because that's when all of the people who forgot to do it earlier are there!!! :p You would probably only have to wait 10 mintues or so for the photo, maybe even less depending on when you go. They have 4 locations for the photo: Adventureland, Fantasyland, Liberty Square, and Tomorrowland. I think Tomorrowland is the most crowded because we went there first and were told that the wait time was an hour!!! Then we found the photo spot near It's A Small World and waited about 10 minutes.

The cookies are just alright... There's only 2 locations: Adventureland and Tomorrowland. There's never a wait, you just go up to a table and take what you want. They kind of reminded me of holiday cookies you would buy at Wal-Mart in one of those plastic containers... They're kind of hard with sprinkles on top. However, they are free and Disney rarely gives out free food so take advantage of it!!! :teeth: The hot chocolate tasted great though especially on the nights when it's kind of cold. Plus it helps to get you into the Christmas spirit.

Hope this helps!

Alyssa---

You are just full of information ;)

Thank you a BUNCH! I really can not wait to go. The fireworks sound out of this World. Where is a good viewing for the fireworks? So are all the rides open during the party or just the popular ones? Since it seems like everyone is saying the later parade is better we will probably go to that one. We do have a 4 yr old but we will just make sure to get a long nap in that afternoon!

Thank you for the information on the CP too. I was thinking the 5:00 showing would be the best for us. It's good to know that is usually the least crowded ;)

Also with the CP.....is it enteraining to kids too? I have a 4 yr old. I am still going even if it isn't too enteraining for kids, but I just
want to be forewarned ;)

My favorite place to view the fireworks are actually near the castle. If you are facing the castle, there is spot to the right of the Partners statue and near the walkway towards Tomorrowland. Not very many people stand here but you have a great view of the fireworks behind the castle, the perimeter fireworks, AND the "special guest" that I've mentioned before will fly right over your head! I think this is one of the best kept secret spots. :D A lot of people stand on Main Street but I really don't think you would get the full effect of the perimeter fireworks and you wouldn't be able to see the "special guest" very well from that far back.

ALL of the rides are open during the MVMCP. Therefore a great tip is if you go to MK during the day and see that there is an hour wait for a particular ride, just wait until the party and you'll probably only wait 10 or 15 minutes. However, even though all of the rides are open, you should try to make seeing the shows a priority since this is the only time you can and you could go on the rides at any other time.

I think the CP would entertain children. I saw a lot of kids in the audience. There's a lot of Christmas songs that the kids will recognize and they would probably be fascinated by all of the lights and the snow at the end. The celebrity narrator tells the Christmas story in between songs. Last year, the most popular narrator with kids was Jodi Benson (the voice of Ariel in "The Little Mermaid"). I had several parents comment that in the middle of the show their kids would make the connection and say "That's Ariel!!" LOL I don't know if she's performing or not this year though. And even if she's not, I still think the kids would like it.
