MVMCP worth it with an "early" bedtime?

Buzzin - you must have missed all the Threads where DISers ask if they can make an ADR for 6:55 on a Party night and watch the parade before they leave!;)

If you decide to go to MVMCP, you should work more time into your scheduling for finding a parade viewing spot or plan on viewing the 2nd parade. It only snows on Main Street and the Town Square area and I think your son would enjoy that.

Tink- where is the best place to watch the Frozen castle lighting? They do this every night correct? Not just party nights? We are staying at the GF, so I'm thinking of doing the castle lighting ceremony on a different night than our MVMCP night, just so we have one less thing to do that night.

Also, do you have to be on Main Street to see the snow during the parade?

THANK YOU. Sorry to hijack your thread Buzz!

We are there the same time, only for a shorter trip 12/11-12/15. I hear you about dining. On our DHS day there are literally zero ADRs available for lunch or dinner. On one of our MK days there are none for dinner. For the duration of our entire trip there are no CP breakfasts available, even after RD. I'm actually thinking of switching to the QS Dining plan instead of the DDP, because it looks like we may not get any TS ADRs.

Luckily we booked our trip back in February! Did the BB before we checked out. I made our dining reservations back in June, but it has been really difficult making any changes!

My DD is 2.5 and at home she goes to bed between 7-7:30PM and loves her sleep. She will sleep 12 hours overnight. However, at Disney (and she has been 10 times) she generally stays up until 9-9:30 on a "regular" night, and has stayed up later. Always still waking up early (there is NO sleeping in for us - by 7AM we are all awake).

As for the party I can only compare it to our recent MNSSHP visit on 10/5. It was my birthday, so I did have a very full day planned. We started out with a pre-park BF at CP, stayed at MK through her nap at 1, then she napped in the stroller while we relaxed at the resort. Went out to dinner at the GF, then made it to the party at 7. During the party we went to the dance parties, did trick or treating, saw HalloWishes, and stayed for the 2nd parade (I want to say that was at 10:30 or 11?). She isn't a huge fan of fireworks, so she actually dozed during those with earmuffs on, and then woke up and was up until about 11:30 -enjoyed the parade and then fell asleep on our way out of the park.

We didn't ride but 1 ride - Barnstormer - which is her current favorite ride (I say current bc our next trip she'll make the 38" height requirement for 7DMT and I know she'll love it!!). I don't think going to the parties and riding rides seems worth it, but we are RD people so get on everything then or with FP.

We also do love meeting characters but were not inclined to wait in long lines to do so.

That all being said, I left feeling like the MNSSHP was not really worth it, as we are definitely more Christmas-people than Halloween-people - and I wanted to book a December trip just to go to MVMCP instead!

FWIW, we made the early 8AM opening of AK the following day and she was 100% fine with the late night. My husband however, was not, but he isn't really big into Disney to begin with and complained about staying for the 2nd parade. :thumbsup2

Yes, it will be every night as follows:

Regular evening, no Party: 6:15 and 7:30
MVMCP: 6:15 and 8:00

The best place is the Hub area in front of the Castle stage. There will be a show with the Frozen characters this year - no Fab 5 or Fairy Godmother. If you don't care about watching the characters onstage, anywhere on the Hub through to Town Square will give you a view of the Castle lighting.

Snows on Main Street through to Town Square.
