MVMCP - what if I can't go ?

I hate to even think of the discussion this might start after reading the "using someones tickets" thread....but here goes.

I am very fairly certain that our upcoming trip will go on as planned. We have AP's that will expire in January so we definitely want to go again before then. I want to purchase advance tickets for MVMCP for either the first or second night. I don't want them to sell out. However, what happens if I can't use them? Can I resell them to someone (NOT AT A PROFIT), exchange them or get a refund from Disney(something I highly doubt) or at least give them away...

or will I be stuck with them??

I have heard of Disney buying them back, however, certainly not guaranteed. Hope you make it, a great evening it is.

That's why I don't buy ours until we get there. We go on Sunday or Tuesday nights and they are never sold out, at least in my experience (1st or 2nd week of Dec). Fridays usually are sold out. Also last year had a few parties with torrential rain, they did allow exchanges or refunds, but I'd rather be sure the night is going to be nice.
