MVMCP - Tips, Tricks, Secrets newbies should know...

Which attractions are not open during the party?? My DH and myself are taking a short 4 night trip this yr and were thinking of trying this party out for the first time. I did the Halloween one once and didn't like how dark a lot of the park was, it was almost pitch black in sections. Are the restaurants all open? Can you use your dining plan that night? Which restaurants are open if some are closed. Thanks all. :santa:

Is there any place to purchase tickets for the MVMCP from people who have already purchased the tickets and have decided they can not attend?

We have small child so we don't think we would be able to stay long enough to get the benefit of paying full price.

If there was a re-sell opportunity and we could get a good price, we would be interested. We will be there the 5th -12th of December.

In past the following rides have been closed:
- Tiki Room
- Jungle Cruise
- Country Bear
- Tom Sawyer's Island
- Hall of Presidents
- Liberty Square Riverboat (which is closed now anyways because of the new show that's done using the boat)
- Carousel of Progress

Also, a number of the dining locations have been closed - mainly the smaller ones.

Thanks Plannin' Shannon.. What would be a good "basic plan" for all the newbies

:wave2: I'll share my plan for this year.

We will arrive at MK at 4pm. We like to take some Main Street pictures, soak up the holiday decorations and hit some rides. Then we'll be at the Hub for the castle-lighting ceremony featuring the Fairy Godmother. Based on last year, I'm estimating this will take place around 6pm. Since there will be no Twas show this year :sad1:, we'll just leisurely make our way over to Mickey's house to stand in line and meet him at 7. Minnie will be next. Until 9pm, we'll enjoy rides and cocoa. At 9, we'll secure our traditional spot on Main Street to watch Wishes at 9:30, and we'll stay there for the 10:15 parade. We like to eat some popcorn and cocoa while listening to the Celebrate the Season show in front of the Castle (and watching the MASSES of people head for the exit after Wishes!). After the parade, we might do more rides until about 10 to midnight. Then we head for Main Street, browse the shops and take some pictures. We usually end up leaving the MK at 1am.

As you can see, we don't plan every single minute of the night. We just keep a basic list of must-sees, and fill in the down-time with whatever we're in the mood to do! We're also 3 adults, so obviously this plan may not work if you have small children. Have fun! :santa:

If we do MVMCP this year our plan will be almost identical. Doing rides will be low priority (we can do that anytime). Soaking up atmosphere, seeing the lighting ceremony, Wishes and the parade (top priority) are our main objectives. The first parade is SO much busier than the second one that I would recommend doing the first parade only if absolutely necessary. I surely will miss the "Twas" show. It was always a highlight for us. Unless I hear before hand that the new Stitch show is fabulous, I have no intention of standing in a crowd to see it.

I'll be headed down to MVMCP on 12/13 as part of D23's Magic & Merriment event (I was one of the few lucky enough to get tickets). I haven't been to the party since I was 10 years old (which was 16 years ago). I'm pretty excited about finally being able to go again. We'll be in the MK all day, then ducking out for dinner a Citricos at 6, and then back for the rest of the party :)

Wow, this thread is great! I am so excited! We will be at the MVMCP on Nov. 10th with 37 of our family members!!!(we will be there for our vow renewal the night before at the GF!!) Can't wait! Anyone else going that night?

37?!?!

:grouphug:

Holy cow!

The wife and I will be there the night of the 10th...since it's the first and there are a few next week, I'm hoping it won't be as crowded.

We've got ADRs at Cinderella's Royal Table at 6:20, and then we'll relax in the park all night. Being 5"2', the wife had trouble seeing the parade last year (being 6"3', I had no trouble...). So this time, we're going to stay late for the last parade so she gets a good seat!

:dance3:

Just wondering about how you are able to stay until 1am? I haven't been to the MK late at night in quite a while, but I did get to go to MNSSHP & noticed that as we were exiting around 12ish, the Emporium & other MS shops were locked up. I think there were still people inside though - were they the lucky ones who entered prior to 12, and they were just allowed to finish shopping for as long as they liked?

As long as you are in the stores before midnight, you can remain inside until you've finalized your purchases. In addition, you can remain on Main Street, just enjoying the atmosphere, as long as you like. :goodvibes

ETA: If you're staying on property, I highly recommend waiting to leave until after midnight. Crowds for the buses and monorail will be exponentially lighter.

Sunday the 13th... cause we'll be there! :thumbsup2

Seriously though, we kind of "eenie meenie miney mo" picked that day with the idea that it wouldn't be as busy on a Sunday night as a Friday night, which is the only other day it will be happening while we're there. Sunday should still be a "school night" for some of the locals we're hoping :confused3 Plus it's the last night of our trip and we thought it would be a nice way to end it. But I would think any night besides Friday would be a good choice, but I have nothing to base this on but common sense, since the tickets are higher priced those nights.

We went to MNSSHP on 10/22 and found the crowds to be pretty good. The kids enjoyed it so much we went back on 10/25, which was a Sunday and found the crowds to be larger. It was still acceptable, but was busier.

We went to MVMCP last year somewhere between 12/6 - 12/11 and after the fireworks it was literally gridlock. You could not move and we were all standing arm to arm. It was crazy. Fortunately we did not have the kids with us.

This year we are going on 12/13. We would probably not have gone again this year, but the tickets were part of a package.

We will be there for the same reason. Coming in just for the D23 events. Of course we were just there (10/21-10/26) so it isn't too disappointing. See you there.

Well, it sounds like there will be quite a few of us there on December 13th...:banana::banana:

We are at BLT from 12/12-12/19, had been hoping that the MVMCP on the 13th would be low volume, do you think having the D23 event will increase attendance to the point it will be unbearable?
