MVMCP Quick Trip – Worth it for two days?

We're taking our 3 y/o daughter for a week in October, which will be her second trip (and MNSSHP) now. I've really got an itching to surprise her and my wife with a quick trip back down in December for a 3-night stay to include a day at EPCOT and then the Christmas party the last day. Question is, has anyone ever done a quick trip like that before? Just wondering if I'm being crazy to have such a quick trip to WDW mainly for the party. SW has great nonstop flights for just over $500 for all three of us, which is the main reason I'm even considering it (from a cost standpoint at least).

3 people on a nonstop flight during Christmas for that price is a pretty good find, so congrats :) Depending on the date(s) that you are interested in going to the World around Christmas, the parks may be quite crowded during the day. Soooooo, you would definitely be able to hit the headliner attractions during the party that may be hard to tour during the day. I understand you have a 3 y/o, so attractions may not be your motivation for atending the party. In my opinion, anything is worth trying once, but the party may be more beneficial to your family once your daughter is a bit older. Just my thoughts. Good question :)

Thanks for the input!

Attractions won't be too big of a deal to us since we will have just spent a week at the world in October. We just keep hearing about how great of an experience the Christmas party is. We loved MNSSHP last year (why we're doing it again this year!), so this seems like an even more exciting time.

We did it after a cruise this past December. It was great! We entered with our party tickets just before 4:00 and stayed till the end. We essentially had a whole "day" at MK. Don't forget, you can also schedule FP from 4-7 before the party starts.

We're doing this in early December as well. We'll do Animal Kingdom the first morning, the MVMCP that evening and Epcot the next day. Found really cheap flights and the stay at AOA was reasonable as well. I can't wait!

Glad to see I'm not the only one who thinks of stuff like this. I was thinking of surprising my children flying down 12/3 after school, going to the party on the 4th and DHS on the 5th (ending with the Osborne lights).

We are doing this next year for MNSSHP. 2 days at Universal and a quick hop over to Epcot for F&W and then the party. We'll be exhausted, but who cares :D

I'm thinking AOA as well! My daughter would love a LM room but they weren't available for our upcoming October trip. Thought honestly this may be better as a week of living under the sea may get to me! :rotfl:

Practical side of me thinks it's silly to go back right after a week in October, not to mention paying for a 1-day ticket plus the party tickets! But I guess being practical isn't the point. This would basically be our Christmas as a family – we live pretty far from any other family so we don't really do any extensive traveling on Christmas anyway.

That's kind of how I see it. Never know if next year might not be feasible for us, so may as well double dip this year while we can!

I’m thinking it would be nice alternative to the usual Christmas even though it would be early. They aren’t really into lots of presents. My daughter is 12 and never even knows what to ask for if someone asks her. She has never really been one to ask for much anyway. She wears uniforms to school and knows she doesn’t need extra clothes. She pretty much sticks to one or 2 pairs of shoes. She doesn’t need any electronics and doesn’t wear jewelry at this point. My son is 5; but his room is already run over with planes trains and automobiles because Hot Wheels are generally like $1. So I’m thinking instead of stuff to make a neat memory would be nice. Plus, I had a trip scheduled for October (that they didn’t know about); but have since cancelled it.

We don't do a ton of presents either, and are honestly a bit minimalist when it comes to toys anyway. She usually gets her bigger presents from grandparents, so I agree that having the memory (and maybe a couple of goodies from the party while she's not looking) is a nice alternative.

Sorry to hear about your cancelled trip – hopefully a MVMCP can work out!

While the Christmas party IS nifty, please don't go with any expectation of lighter crowds. I have been when it was PACKED and MISERABLE (first week of December!).

A question only you can answer is how much will yoru family enjoy it if it is shoulder to shoulder crowds and long waits for everything? (I waited 45 minutes in line for a soft drink.)
