I am staying at the Poly on a magical deal in December for a 9 night stay. As part of my deal I can only get 8 days of park tickets so I am park free on arrival day. As this is my longest stay yet, not sure what I want to do and am looking for advice.

Original plan: arrive, explore Poly, monorail around to see hotel gingerbread houses, go to DTD for dinner, return to watch water pagent. Nice easy, lazy day.

Then I realized it might be a party night and thought about getting tickets for MVMCP.

Plan 2: arrive, explore, monorail to gingerbread, ending at MK for 4:00 party soft start and eat qs. Con to this plan are added expense of party tickets and that my MNSHP night sold out and was such a zoo I did not feel the price was worth it beyond seeing the parade. As there are no ghouls at Xmas, the Xmas parade holds no interest for me. So if the rides are packed, I paid for nothing.

Plan 3: i would like to go to the nearby premium outlets. Pro is that this is something new. Cons are that outlet deals are best at opening and I would arrive late afternoon, also expense of a cab ride there and back. Plus if I found something I would have to pay to check a bag (only taking carry on) or to ship it home.

If I didn't fear being bored with my original plan I would just do that, but DTD never takes as long as I expect and I am not a good sitter so hours in my room waiting for the pageant would be disappointing.

Are the outlets worth it? Is the party worth it?

Our family loved MVMCP, and for us the parade, Holiday Wishes, and the atmosphere alone was worth the price of admission; getting do do some attractions also was just a bonus. It doesn't seem like that might be the case for you, so I'm not sure you'd find it "worth it". Our party was sold out as well but we didn't have any trouble. Rides, like normal days in the parks, have lower lines during the parades and fireworks, so you might be able to "do more" during those times.

As for the outlets, I haven't been to the ones there, but for me I wouldn't want to waste "Disney time" on outlet malls, but then we have several here and I can do that any time. I'd probably stick with your original plan.

We did the party in November and it was VERY busy. It was hard to navigate anywhere on main street. On the other hand, outside of main street and the hub area was not as busy. We didn't go on any rides, but I noticed the lines were very short. The parade as wonderful, the snow was cool, the fireworks were great. We did the party because DS is obsessed with the Nightmare Before Christmas and it was an opportunity to meet Jack Skellington. We enjoyed it, but probably won't do it again. The expense was worth it this time just to see the look on his face when he spotted JS. Otherwise, I'm not sure it's worth a repeat.

Personally, the lazy day plan appeals to me the most. I could spend hours at DTD honestly, but that's just me. I've never been to the outlets, but That sounds appealing as well.

Those particular outlets are nice if you like high end designer stuff (Burberry, Christian Dior, Prada, etc). There's a Disney character outlet that has some pretty dramatic reductions from the parks too.

I guess I also need to see if it is a party night. If not, that subtracts one choice. I do like high end, was hoping to find Burberry rain boots or a Tod's d-styling bag.

At Halloween the goal was seeing the horseman and the dancers at the parade, so I lost ride time getting a good spot. In general I felt the halloween decor was lacking, but i LOVE what they do at Christmas, so not caring about the parade, I could devote party time to ride and be surrounded by the ambiance of Christmas because it is everywhere.

I was content never doing the party, but the coworker who told me it wasn't worth it, is now talking it up and is shocked I missed it on my last December visit. If Halloween hadn't been quite so crowded I wouldn't be so apprehensive....

Thanks for the advice everyine.

Do you know if they get good prices at The non disney stores? My goal in going would be a Tods bag or Burberry rain boots.

They're not _bad_. Burberry is usually around a 30% markdown. Sometimes you can find amazing deals on Burberry at Nordstorm Rack (I got Burberry boots there, 4 years ago, for $99), but that is a ways away. The other outlet has a Last Call Neiman Marcus that usually has better deals (but less selection).

I like the lazy plan too. I don't see much attraction in going to the outlets unless you are coming in from another countrty. If you didn't feel like MNSHHP was worth it, I wouldn't spend the money on MVMCP.

Another vote for the lazy day.
Travel day is tiring. There is always the chance of unexpected delays, that you have no control over. I would spend a lazy day and be geared up and ready for the next 8 days.

If you're really into high end designer stuff, the outlets have good deals. The Disney character outlet has huge reductions from park prices too .If you're not into that stuff, I agree, skip them.
