MVMCP - My Very Merry Chistmas Pre-Trip Report

Love the shirts, they turned out great! I am going to have to try that as we can't seem to decide on what kind of matching shirts I'll just make these and end the discussion.

Maybe I can mass produce them and sell them on Ebay. Disney won't mind me using the Mickey head would they?
Sorry I didn't respond sooner, something is up with my router at home, so I don't have internet access. Of course we don't have on demand right now either so the kids are suffering too. I kept telling them, I guess you are stuck watching whatever is on at the time.

Those shirts are FANTASTIC!!! I'm sure I just missed it. Did you post how you made them? :confused3

Pretty simple process really. I googled for a Mickey Head image, and pasted it into word a few times. Then resized them so I had a range of sizes to choose from. I printed them out. Cut them out, then used those templates to make plastic templates using plastic folders. This way the bleach wouldn't soak through. I bought some of those plastic cutting boards that roll up, and put them in the shirts as well so the bleach wouldn't bleed through the shirts. I put the Mickey heads on the shirts in a pattern I liked, then sprayed the shirts with bleach. Let it sit for a few minutes so the bleach does it's work, then run them through a wash cycle. Dry the shirts, and viola.

It is really a simple process, and the shirts turned out pretty well. We wore them to a birthday party our friends were having for their kids. Got quite a few compliments. Some poeple thought we went to Disney and bought the shirts there, so that was nice.

Poor kids!! They are stuck watching TV back like we did in the "old days" before there were even VCRs!

They still had more kids only channels to choose from than I had channels when I was a kid. I guess they are so used to watching what they want on demand, that they don't comprehend that it isn't possible to do it.

They didn't get any sympathy from me though.:lmao:

If they want something on demand, they can watch one of their dvd's

wow, the shirts look great- i love them. i might just have to try those myself. thanks for sharing the instructions. not sure i can get DH to wear one.........i actually just got him to finally wear a shirt with mickey on it on our last trip and i think he finally did that since our son liked it. lol. not sure he would wear this one or not. i can at least make them for me, MIL and DS! love them! :thumbsup2;) i think i will avoid the 'red-shirt' though. don't need to go disappearing at disney!:confused3:rotfl:

You should go find a shirt that is Blue. That way when you bleach it, it should come out in Cowboys blue, and then he would wear it.

my kids drive me crazy with on demand

I bought black shirts today. I think I'm going to try the reverse tie-dye that you bunch up and use the rubber bands. I'm so nervous to try! How much bleach vs water did you use? 50/50 ?

I just used straight bleach. I put some water in the bathtub. When a shirt looked like it was done to my liking I had my wife run it into the bathtub to rinse out the bleach and stop the process. I only left it on each shirt for a few minutes, so make sure you have a runner.

Off topic: This is now Day 5 without internet access at home. Spent an hour and a half on hold the other day before I gave up. Lucked out yesterday was only on hold for 15 minutes before getting a human to talk to me. They are sending me a new router. Funny, that's what I asked for on Saturday, but they thought it was a dead battery, so I had to change that out first. Why don't people listen to me?:lmao:

I looked back at the sample link you'd posted for the black shirt that came out with a rusty color and they used half water, half bleach. They'd used rubber bands for the corners to get the scrunchie look and I figured I'd try that way first. The weather has been crap so far on my vacation but today looks like a good day to try it out. :thumbsup2

Ugh, how annoying! Think they'll credit you five days of internet? ;)

lol, he just might! we are big fans of the boys! if only they could pull it together this year. :confused3:rotfl:

so you put the stencils on (line the shirt inside with plastic too to avoid seeping through)- then spray the straight bleach on the shirt, around the stencil. then you soak it a bit and the color bleeds some? i am not good with instructions if you couldn't tell. :lmao:

Yea, I noticed the scrunchy look. I didn't really like it though. I doubt you can see it in the pictures, but my wife's shirt must have had a fold on the one side, so it made a neat pattern going up the one side of the shirt.

:lmao::rotfl::rotfl2: a credit, now that's funny. :lmao::rotfl::rotfl2:

I think the Cowboys will be ok this year. They should win the NFC East. I don't think the Redskins will be contenders just yet, the Giants stink, and I still don't know what the Eagles are going to do behind Kolb. Of course once the playoffs start, who knows how the Boys will do.

I let the bleach sit on the shirt until the color changed. Probably 2-3 minutes, I didn't really time it, then I put them in water to stop the bleach from doing any more work. Looks like you got it though.
