MVMCP - My Very Merry Chistmas Pre-Trip Report

Her reaction is just so awesome! Has she watched the video recently? What does she think of her 4 year old self?

We haven't watched it in a while. She doesn't have much reaction to herself though. We will definitely need to watch it to get the kids excited when it gets closer.
We just watched the Disney World special on the Travel channel this morning. Ally was getting excited to see the attractions.

I need to look for some of those kinds of specials to Tivo so that I have something other than a plannign DVD to get me ready!

Wah, I must have missed it! Glad Ally is getting excited!!

How did the t-shirts go?

We didn't get to do them. It was a rainy day, and my wife isn't going to let me do it in the house. I guess she is worried about me, or one of the kids spilling the dye. We went shopping for school clothes instead. Hopefully we can do it tonight, and see how they turn out by tomorrow.

The biggest pain was creating the Mickey head template. The first ones I created looked perfect on the shirt while it is laying flat, but when I held them up to my body, and by kids bodies, they were way too big. So I had to create two new templates that look better, or at least I hope will look better.

For some reason I think your wife is more worried about you spilling the dye than one of the kids:lmao:

I remember trying to get the right sized heads for little bodies when I did ours. Do you have a ready made Mickey head or did you try printing in different sizes? Did you do twice around the head in dental floss and use 2-3 rubber bands? Those are my biggest pieces of advice after having done a few!

I hadn't thought about that. I wonder how my kids would look with blue hair...:lmao:

I made my own patterns using bowls, glasses, or whatever I could find that was round and about the right size.
Thanks for the suggestions. I will have to remember them. I have to stop to get some dental floss, I don't think we have enough in the house. Now I need to buy twice as much to be able to go around twice. Plus I need more rubber bands. The kit didn't seem to have too many anyway.

I compared my free-hand Mickey heads using cups and the bigger one I created was pretty much dead on, the smaller one was just a bit disproportioned, but still looked pretty good. I managed to sew up one Mickey head. The second one I wasn't able to pull the dental floss tight, and wound up making a hole in the shirt. I need to buy one of those round fabric stretcher things. It might make the sewing a bit easier.

This little project may take longer than I thought. It looked so easy in the pictures.:lmao:

yeeeah, I am a sewer (I sew, I am not a drainage system ;)) and I was cursing up a storm at what a challenge this was. Hopefully, you'll get in the groove by shirt #4! I have been meaning to add my shirts from our last trip to my PTR, maybe they will inspire you!

:lmao::rotfl2::rotfl:
I wouldn't have noticed it if you didn't point it out.
:lmao::rotfl2::rotfl:

:laughing: Whenever I don't clarify, people are like "What?". Let's just say when you put up a post saying "Looking for sewers" you get some strange responses. :dance3:

I am uploading the pics of our shirts right now. I hope to have them up very quickly!

ok, so this tie-dye thing is a little harder than I thought, but I will get it done. In the meantime, I want some kind of home made Disney shirt to wear. So I am going with the easier route of a reverse tie-dye. Something similar to the item in the link below. I am going to cut out a few different sized Mickey Heads using plastic folders. Then placing a couple on the shirt and squirting it with bleach. The Mickey heads will stay the same color, but hopefully the spray from the bleach will make them stands out well.

Thats cool... maybe I will try it

Caught up! I'm really digging that reverse tie-dye bleached shirt! That looks so simple, even I can do it. ;)

Keeping my fingers crossed for a cool outcome!!

These shirts look like so much fun. I couldn't possibly put my husband through wearing one though. We are 26 and 27 and since we returned from our last trip and he wore his Mickey Mouse sleeveless shirt infront of his friends, they haven't stopped making fun of him. His friends are a little immature (ya think?) and none of them are married or even have girlfriends, so they don't understand the idea of compromise or liking anything less "manly" than UFC... (probably the reason they are all still single) :rotfl:

Back to the shirts... I bet the girls are enjoying this art project. Have you tried the reverse tie dye one yet?
